Why have you been sorely lacking in HIMYM scoop lately? Well, that’s because we’ve been holding back from revealing tonight’s surprise return to HIMYM by a girl that we love. To make it up to you, we’ll reveal now that by the end of the season we will know for sure if she is the mother (or not). Check back later this week from more from the lady in question! Source: Kristin on E!Online

Is Stella really the mother on HIMYM? Not that I don’t love Sarah Chalke, but I was hoping the show was heading somewhere else with the mystery. Ausiello: Exec producer Carter Bays isn’t saying either way, but A Mother insider tells me that she is not the mom. Still, it looks like Chalke will be sticking around next season — in some capacity. “We haven’t talked to her or her people about it yet, but there’s something very exciting about next season [involving Stella] that will sort of be alluded to in next week’s episode,” teases Bays. “We’re excited to see how it’ll play out next season.” Speaking of Monday’s ep, Bays says it ranks among the show’s best. “It’s a real good, classic How I Met Your Mother,” he declares. “There are a few episodes of this show that, when we were shooting it, felt like an old movie. You just want to put it in black and white. Next week’s episode felt like one of those.” Source: The Ausiello Files

Here We Go Again: Is Stella the Mother?

Source: TV Guide Online

Stella’s not out of Ted’s life just yet. Just when you thought she was out … they pull her back in. Sarah Chalke’s Stella resurfaced at the end of CBS’ How I Met Your Mother this week, and at a most interesting moment. Throughout the entire episode, Narrator Ted had set the stage for an encounter which, had it hot happened, his kids wouldn’t be here today. Now, mind Adult Ted’s words carefully: Never did he tell his kids that this latest story — in which food poisoning, Barney’s 200th conquest and an intervention all led his younger self to this run-in — was about meeting their mother. After all, Ted has already met (and dated, and gotten engaged to, and been left at the altar by) Stella.

So, might this reunion beneath the tell-tale yellow umbrella instead kick off a new chain of events leading Ted to actually meet the Mother? CBS confirmed Tuesday that Chalke will guest-star in the next episode, as will Jason Jones, who in previous episodes has played Stella’s babydaddy, Tony. The plot summary: “An old acquaintance who feels he’s ruined Ted’s life” — Tony, let’s presume — “insists on helping him find a job.” Maybe that job opportunity brings Ted and his true love together? All a CBS rep will say is, “Stella plays a very important part in Ted’s future.” Then again, maybe the bigger question on HIMYM fans’ minds is: When will CBS give the show a Season 5 pick-up?

Episode 4.23: As Fast As She Can Airdate: May 11, 2009

In his attempt to assuage his guilt for “ruining Ted’s life,” Tony, Stella’s fiancé, insists on helping Ted find a job, but only manages to prove that no good deed goes unpunished. Meanwhile, Barney tries to prove he can get out of a speeding ticket. Recurring cast: Stella: Sarah Chalke, Tony: Jason Jones. Guest cast: Minnesota State Trooper: Peter Breitmayer, Highway Cop #1: Ezra Buzzington, Highway Cop # 2: Ron Rogge, Richard Greenleaf: Amir Talai, Highway Cop # 3: Joe Thornton Jr., Highway Cop # 4: Kevin W. High, Sexy Female Cop: Azita Ghanizada, Mrs. Matsen: Renee Taylor, Skateboarder: Nicolai Dorian. Stella and Tony are still very much together. Jason Jones — the dude who plays Stella’s baby daddy — told me so when I spoke with him on set during the filming of next week’s episode. Yep, that’s right. Directly behind Stella, on that street corner where Ted has just ran into her, is her better half, Tony. And the site of the happy couple may just make Ted weep. But who can blame the guy? Both his career and his personal life are pretty much non-existent at the moment. However, as Jones explained, Tony may be able to turn at least one of those things around for him. “We bump into Ted and I feel extremely bad about stealing his girl and I try to make amends by throwing some cash at it,” he told me. In fact, I think Tony knows someone who may be in need of an architect… an eccentric sort of dude whom he’ll hook Ted up with… though I doubt it’s really going to work out. But, Ted was going on and on about his kids never being born if he hadn’t run into Stella that day, so what’s up with that? Well, as Sarah Chalke said during a break from shooting, she and Ted will get some closure during next week’s episode. They’ll talk and work a few things out. So maybe all Ted’s yammering last night was just about him finally moving on and being open to meeting the mother of his children. Or, perhaps, Stella will play an even bigger part in Ted Mosby meeting his soul mate. Either way, word is, we’ll be getting a significant clue as to where hisjourney ends in this year’s finale, which airs the week after next. Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV

Episode 4.24: The Great Leap (Season finale) Airdate: May 18, 2009

Why have you been sorely lacking in HIMYM scoop lately? Well, that’s because we’ve been holding back from revealing tonight’s surprise return to HIMYM by a girl that we love. To make it up to you, we’ll reveal now that by the end of the season we will know for sure if she is the mother (or not). Check back later this week from more from the lady in question! How I Met Your Mother, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris What can you tease for the season finale of How I Met Your Mother?
In case you missed the exclusive video from our set visit, Josh Radnor (Ted) spilled that he’s becoming a teacher. Also, Alyson Hannigan returns in the season finale and announces she’s pregnant. Before you get too excited, she’s not, but Marshall doesn’t know that until after he mentions she’s been getting fat. What else happens? Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) doesn’t get a chance to profess his love to Robin (because something better happens), the goat is back in the finale and Ted gets his ass kicked. Yes, those last two things are one and the same. The HIMYM finale is May 18 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS. Source: Kristin on E!Online

How I Met Your Mother: Neil Patrick Harris is pretty much confirming Stella ain’t the mother, despite how things may have looked at the end of Monday’s episode. “There have already been episodes where older Ted is saying that she’s not, so we’d have to go against our word to make that the case,” he says. “But I think she’ll have something to do with the realization of who the mother is.” Source: The Ausiello Files

Something major is going to happen with [Barney and Robin] in the season finale. I know this because executive producer Carter Bays told me so. “That is one of the stories that we sort of have been teasing out over the course of the season,” he says. “And it definitely comes to a head in the finale.” [...] “At the end of the season, we will address the title of our show,” reveals Bays, adding that the last four episodes will feature “big events in the lives of our characters — specifically Ted. We’re going to wrap up some things that have been left dangling.” Translation: I think the M-bomb’s about to be dropped! Source: The Ausiello Files

We’ll finally get to see a real relationship between [Barney and Robin] very soon, and it’s already on paper! Carter spills: “We’ve written the dramatic climax of the story, and now we’re going back and writing toward it. I’m very excited to eventually get there, but it’s also a lot of fun figuring out how to slowly maneuver these characters closer and closer toward the inevitable.” [...] “The last few episodes will address the title of the show,” Carter teases. “We will be picking up some storylines that may have been dormant for a while, and one of those is Ted’s romantic life and his search for the woman who is eventually the mother of his kids.” One of the clues that will pop back up is the mysterious yellow umbrella, which Carter says, “will continue to be a part of the show.” Just to set the record straight, despite rumors that Barney has actually been telling the story this whole time, Bays confirms, “The narrator is Ted-he’s grown up.” [...] “There’s going to be a shift in setting to some degree,” Carter reveals of next season. “There’s going to be kind of a new world that some of the characters enter, and it’ll bring us closer to meeting the mom. It’ll also provide sort of a new dynamic for a couple of the characters.” Source: Kristin on E!Online

In addition to “a couple other” such guest castings on the horizon, Bays promises that fans will “see some old favorites come back – people that you haven’t seen in a while – which will be fun.” And on top of it all? Bays hints at “a cool surprise” that will lead us ever closer to a certain Mother, saying, “The last few episodes will address the title of the show.” Source: TV Guide Online

How I Met Your Mother – Building to a Robin-Barney romance?

“How I Met Your Mother” is going to tease us this week with a new episode, then take next week off before returning again the last week in April. And the show also seems to be teasing us about something else: a perhaps-imminent coupling of Barney and Robin. This is just speculation on my part, but after viewing the video below — called “BRo Love” (the B and R stand for Barney and Robin, natch), it’s a montage of all the romantic, semi-romantic and out-of-context nice stuff involving the two characters — it’s not hard to think that “HIMYM” is headed toward something like that in the near future.

That aspect of the show has taken a bit of a back seat to other storylines of late — in fact, we haven’t seen or heard much about it since Barney’s TV-smashing, misinterpreted “I love you” escapades back in January. Even the CBS logline for this week doesn’t say anything about them — instead, it’s all about Ted starting his own architecture firm: “When Ted loses his job and decides to form his own architectural firm out of his apartment, he hires an intern to help get his company off the ground, but the intern gets too close for comfort with some of Ted’s friends.” But I can’t help but wonder what the show is building toward, particularly in the light of co-creator Carter Bays’ comments last month that he and his fellow writers had already come up with the “dramatic climax” to the Barney-Robin story. I don’t know if something will happen this week, but it has to be coming, right?
