A little “GG” Q&A, answers courtesy of exec producer Stephanie Savage…
Have the “Gossip Girl” producers read all the “Gossip Girl” books? I’m curious to know how familiar they are with them. -Kris
Savage told me they read most of the books. And they got familiar with the stories in the ones they skipped by studying summaries. As fans of both the books and the show already know though, the producers are on their own path: “A lot of the stories we’re telling are not in the books whatsoever — the whole Chuck and Blair romance [for example] — so there’s not a lot of material we can draw on. [The show] has to grow and expand and be its own thing.”
Everyone’s all about Chuck-Blair/Blair-Nate blah blah blah. What about Jenny and Nate? I thought they were great together. Will we ever see them reunited?
Sounds like it. Just not anytime soon. Said Savage, “Nate and Jenny is actually a really big story in the books and we sort of dipped our toe into that pool a few times. As the characters get older and start to feel the same age, that is definitely material I think we can revisit.”
There’s no way all the “Gossip Girl” kids would end up staying in NYC after high school graduation. Please tell me that’s not going to happen.
I read this question to Stephanie and she responded by saying, “Well, New York is a pretty big city.” Personally, I think they should let Dan go off to Yale. We can see him every now and then when he comes home to visit or when Jenny goes down to Connecticut for college debauchery weekends with big brother… but somehow I doubt that’ll happen. Still, Savage ensures there will for sure be changes: “It really is kind of a major — and I think very exciting — reconfiguration of the show, to leave high school behind and to allow all of our characters to reinvent themselves outside of that construct. They’ll [discover] what it means to kind of be a part of the bigger world, so you can expect to see new couples, new family configurations, people living in different places than you last saw them. We’re having a lot of fun thinking about that… keep everything that everyone loves [about "Gossip Girl"], but also really kind of move everyone forward as well.”
Is Vanessa going to school next year? Will she continue her education?
Savage said we’ll have to wait and see, but she also said, don’t forget, Vanessa took her SATs.
Any more major “Gossip Girl” deaths I should expect?
Nah. Stephanie doesn’t see that happening. “I think we have a pretty tight cast and I think we would only be interested in adding, not subtracting.”
More Dorota please.
Not to worry, Savage said they knew Dorota was a super star straight away and will continue writing for her. Were you aware that the actress who plays her, Zuzanna Szadkowski, actually speaks Polish, so the producers decide what they want Dorota to say and then rely on Zuzanna to translate it for her character’s lines?
On “Gossip Girl” I need to know, will Dan and Blair ever be romantically involved?
The producers aren’t opposed to it. When I questioned Stephanie about a Dan-Blair pairing, she said, “There are only so many characters on our show, so everyone needs to be open to being with everyone at some point.”
Vicki in Las Vegas: Gossip Girl!
Serena did not really get married, this is a bit of an off week for Blair (she’s in a funk because of her love problemos) and Chuck apologizes to Jenny for that time he tried to get up on her in the pilot (back when Gossip Girl still showed depraved indifference to everything, before it turned into a modern comedy-of-manners masterpiece), but let’s talk about the most important thing: Dorota-sodes are coming! Source: Kristin on E!Online
Petra in Austin, Texas: What’s the buzz on the Gossip Girl spinoff pilot?
Apparently “Lily” [sic] is not a full pilot. Rather, the ’80s flashbacks are half of a Gossip Girl episode (tied into Serena’s storyline), so it’s hard to judge the series as a whole, but from what insiders have seen so far, it looks good, and Krysten Ritter and Brittany Snow in particular are supposed to be awesome. Yay! Source: Kristin on E!Online
First Look: ‘Gossip Girl’ spinoff’s Brittany Snow as totally ’80s Lily
We already know that Brittany Snow will play the younger version of Kelly Rutherford‘s Lily in the “Gossip Girl” spinoff set back in the 1980s, but now you can see her in all her over-mascara’d, totally ’80s glory. As you can see from this poster obtained by Spoiler TV, Snow as Lily has run into a bit of trouble in a flashback for the May 11th “Gossip Girl” episode, “Valley Girls,” which will act as a backdoor pilot to the spinoff.
And yeah … it looks like Serena got her wild child ways from her mother!
‘Gossip Girl’ 2.22 Preview: Georgina Is Back in Town
Georgina, who has an unpleasant history with Serena, is back to Upper East Side with unknown motive in ‘A Southern Gentleman Prefer Blondes’.
Georgina is back in town. In the next episode of “Gossip Girl“, the frienemy of Serena will return to the Upper East Side after undergoing a major transformation. “Her last name is Sparks, so sparks will fly,” Michelle Trachtenberg teased on the impact of Georgina’s arrival, adding that she will be “causing quite a stir, as Georgina does.” Also in the April 27 episode, Chuck and Nate find themselves at a major crossroads in their relationship as it pertains to their mutual interest in Blair. Serena finds her relationship with Gabriel growing more complicated.
On another “Gossip Girl” news, Chace Crawford is said finding difficulty in committing to the show and taking on a new project, “Footloose“. A source told E!, “There’s a big overlap of when he’d have to shoot Footloose and the next season of Gossip Girl.” Reps for Chace and the movie have not given any comment.
‘Gossip Girl’ 2.22 Clip: Blair Finds Out Gabriel’s Secret
Thinking that Gabriel is hiding a skeleton in his closet, Blair does Serena a favor by spying outside his apartment.
A scene is clipped from the upcoming episode of “Gossip Girl“, showing Blair as the spy. Concern about Serena’s complaint that Gabriel just disappears, Blair waits outside his apartment only to bump into Chuck and later discovered Gabriel with another girl. Serena herself finds her relationship with Gabriel growing more complicated. Also put on spotlight in the particular episode, Michelle Trachtenberg returns as her troubled character Georgina, looking forward to stir things up after undergoing a major transformation. Meanwhile, Chuck and Nate find themselves at a major crossroads in their relationship as it pertains to their mutual interest in Blair. In a photo released for the episode, Nate and Chuck will be in a game of basketball. “Southern Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” airs on Monday, April 27 on The CW.

A transcript of a new sneak peek that we’ve not been able to the video for yet. Once we have it we’ll be sure to post.
Vanessa is sitting, sipping a beer at the kitchen counter, when Dan walks in.
Dan: Hello. Since when did my apartment become your watering hole of choice?
Vanessa: Rufus and Jenny let me in on their way out. Thought I’d wait for you and we’d play a little ‘I Never!’ I kind of already started.
Dan: Yeah, I can see that. *cracks the top off a beer*
Vanessa: I’ll go first…I never slept with Chuck Bass. *CHUGS* (Dan looks hilariously disgusted) That’s why I’ve been avoiding you. I know, it’s…repulsive!
Dan: It is…completely repulsive. But you’ve gone through a lot lately. I mean, the whole Blair/Nate reunion and all, (something I can’t understand) so you get no judgment from me. Everyone makes mistakes, at least once. I never…nearly slept with Georgina Sparks. *drinks*
Vanessa: I never slept with Chuck Bass twice *chugs again*
Vanessa: *still drinking* Dan…you’re lucky. However bad your life sucks right now, you didn’t need an STD panel this week. (they both laugh)
Dan: yeah…there’s that. Wait, why does my life suck right now?

4/20 New ‘Seder Anything’
Serena returns from her trip to Spain with Poppy (guest star Tamara Feldman) and Gabriel (guest star Armie Hammer). Blair makes a secret deal with Nate’s grandfather and Nate learns some disturbing information about his father’s arrest. Dan takes a job as a cater-waiter to earn money for college, but is distressed when he discovers the gig is a Passover seder at the Waldorf penthouse and several of his friends and family are guests.
be found onlien yet, either.
Okay, so, I just saw a sneak peak for 221. And I thought I would share. I can’t upload it, I’m sorry. It’s no where to
The scene starts with Serena walking back into her room having just got home after her trip to Spain. There’s a guy who carries her luggage into the room and then leaves. Chuck appears at her door. Says “The prodogial daughter returns”. Asks her how Spain was, Serena replies with “Amazing, perfect” rather…nervously. Chuck says he’s sure, since her and Poppy were dancing on table tops in Barcelona and sun-bathing topless at some coastal region. Serena says more like her, Poppy and Gabriel. She tries to push Chuck out the door, who moves. Says she just read, ate, swam. Chuck asks again about the nude sunbathing and Serena just nervously looks around, then behind her. Asks if Lilly is around.
Chuck says he hasn’t seen her, but he has been occupied. Random nobody walks through the door. In a dress. Chuck calls her “last night’s entertainment”. She walks out the door, Chuck says she’s a swimmer. Serena says “so you found a way to get over Blair then?”. Chuck says there was a detour with a boho barista, but then he realised he’s a 17 year old billionaire. With tremedous stamina. Tonight Chuck has another date with a ballerina.
Then Chuck goes “By the way, I saw Poppy Lifton at the Rose Bar last week. It’s funny how she can be there, yet still be in Spain with you”. Chuck drinks from his tiny tea cup.
Serena looks shocked/guilty. Chuck leaves. Clip ends.
New Promo of ‘Gossip Girl’ 2.21: Chuck Reveals Serena’s Secret
In a clip taken from ‘Gossip Girl’ episode ‘Seder Anything’, Chuck tells Serena what he knows about her recent trip to Spain.
A promo of “Gossip Girl” has been released, busting Serena who has just returned from her trip to Spain. The scene involves a conversation between her and Chuck who teased her about sunbathing topless in coastal region of Barcelona and dancing on tabletops. The nervous-looking Serena then looked for her mother and said that the trip was more like her, Poppy and Sebastian. Chuck then chimed in the end of the promo, “By the way, I saw Poppy Lifton at the Rose Bar last week. It’s funny how she can be there, yet still be in Spain with you”. In the synopsis released for the April 20 episode, Serena is worried that she might actually marry Sebastian during a wild night. The preview reveals Serena telling Dan that she answered “si”.
Also in the episode which is called “Seder Anything”, Blair makes a secret deal with Nate’s grandfather, William, and Nate learns some disturbing information about his father’s arrest. Dan takes a job as a cater-waiter to earn money for college, but is distressed when he discovers the gig is a Passover seder at the Waldorf penthouse and several of his friends and family are guests.
Major Spoilers: Supposedly Chuck & Nate are going to be fighting over Blair again! But in the end of the season Blair chooses Chuck, here’s the script!
Blair- I want to believe you, Chuck, but I can’t. You’ve hurt me to many times. Chuck- You can believe me this time. Blair- Why? He looks at her; human, real, vulnerable. Chuck- Beacuse I’m not Chuck Bass without you. Blair- Uh.. That’s it? There is a moment then.. ~He kisses her~ It was the perfect kiss, the kind they used to fear when they were in the game They break and Chuck- I love you, Blair. Blair smiles and jumps into his arms. Blair- Can you say it again? They both laugh and smile
Question: I’m begging here. Please give me something good on Gossip Girl‘s Chuck and Blair! All we’ve been getting is bad news and I need something to keep me sane! Ausiello: This season’s final two episodes will make you very happy.
Source: The Ausiello Files Any Gossip Girl scoop? Nate and Serena aren’t hooking up for season finale, right? MICKEY: No! That would never happen! I mean, Nate and Serena would totally be the least likely couple in all of Gossip-dom, especially considering their sleazy history. It would be totally unexpected, right? Plus, when I mentioned that the producers should fix Gossip Girl by dirtying up fuzzy bunnies Serena and Nate, it’s not like the powers that be were listening. Right? Right? Source: TV Guide
‘Gossip Girl’: So you’re saying you DON’T want Nate & Blair together…
Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV …Or maybe you do. In fact, some of you do. And some of you don’t. And some of you are just really very angry. The response to last Monday’s “Gossip Girl” post in which executive producer Stephanie Savage basically explained that, (a) Nate and Blair’s recently rekindled relationship will have a short run that plays out over the season’s remaining few episodes and that (b) a Chuck-Blair pairing will most probably be on tap for season 3, was, uh, passionate. And while the overwhelming majority of you are just livid about having to watch any additional Blair-Nate screen time, there are certainly a few fans who prefer B with Nate over Chuck. And the people with that perspective seem to be pissed about the promise of a Chuck-Blair pairing for fall. Of course there’s also the matters of Chuck and Vanessa — a few of you don’t mind their fraternization, the rest of you want to shave the poor girl’s head yourself, then point and laugh at her — and Blair and Uncle Jack Bass… their secret, that is… which some people seem to think will tear Chuck and Blair apart forever. Will there be a continuation of Gossip Girl’s storyline about Lily and Rufus’ child? MICKEY: I had a college roommate who called me Yankee. I called him A–hole. Q: One of my favorite shows is Gossip Girl. I pretty much know the whole cast, so what can you tell me that I don’t know?” A: Well, Ashley, I don’t think you know new cast member Matt Barr. He appears May 11 in the Lily-centric spin-off episode as young Keith van der Woodsen, who may wind up being Serena’s father. “Wait and see,” says Gossip executive producer Stephanie Savage. But she reveals that we’ll finally meet Serena and Eric’s father in Season 3, and Matt says the show will be introducing an all grown-up version of Keith. So you do the math. A casting call will be going out for an actor who resembles a more mature Matt. I’m thinking Matthew Modine. TV Guide

I know it’s not really called Lily, but is there anything new to spill on the spinoff? Actually E! News just caught up with the older version of Lily, Kelly Rutherford, and she shared an awesome-sounding bit of info on the tentatively titled show: “I just went in recently did a bit of a voice-over, like a Wonder Years kind of thing where I’m looking back on my life. I don’t know if they’ll use it, but I was able to see some of it, and it looked fantastic.” So there you have it! Gossip Girl plus Wonder Years equals amazing! Source: Kristin on E!Online
Preview of ‘Gossip Girl’ 2.24: Valley Girls
This would be the ‘Gossip Girl’ episode that provides a backdoor pilot for its spin-off when young Lily van der Woodsen had a run-in with the law.
It was way back when Lily van der Woodsen was known as her maiden name Rhodes. Next week on “Gossip Girl“, it’s a backdoor pilot for the show’s spin-off which is tentatively titled “Valley Girls“. There will be a lot of flash backs to the ’80s where Lily was just a 17-year-old living in Los Angeles after being kicked out of boarding school. In the May 11 episode, young Lily tries to reconnect with her parents, Rick (Andrew McCarthy) and Cece (Cynthia Watros), and sister, Carol (Krysten Ritter). She will later leave the comfort of living a luxurious life to crash in with her sister in downtown L.A. Brittany Snow leads the cast as Lily Rhodes. Back in present day, Blair and Nate attend prom together, but the evening doesn’t turn out exactly as planned and Chuck has a little something to do with that. Serena and Lily don’t see eye-to-eye over Serena’s recent run-in with the law.
No Doubt guest star in the episode as a fictional ’80s band called Snowed Out. They will perform a cover of Adam and the Ants’ “Stand and Deliver” which No Doubt had performed on their live set at Bamboozle Festival over the weekend.

New Gossip Girl Spoilers: Serena’s Married in ‘Seder Everything’? Plus The Future of Chuck/Blair/Nate!

Exclusive: ‘Gossip Girl’s’ Stephanie Savage gives the Chuck-Blair-Nate goods
Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV
It’s the moment so many of you have been waiting for, begging for, blogging for, bitching for…All “Gossip Girl” die hards are well aware that we’re hanging on the precipice of graduation and meeting Dan and Serena’s half sibling and of course the “Gossip Girl” spin off. And we will get to all that in due time. But I think I’d be risking an internet lynching if I didn’t deliver the big news right now. What’s the deal with the Chuck-Blair-Nate triangle? Will it be but a blip in the total “Gossip Girl” time line as I promised weeks ago. Well, yes. The short answer is yes. I spoke with executive producer Stephanie Savage on Friday, as many of you already know, and what I took from our talk is, though this Blair-Nate pairing won’t go away next week, and you will have to live with it for a time, the two are not exchanging rings.
“We are definitely out there [online], kind of listening to what people are saying. We are very aware there is a lot of interest in having the Chuck and Blair story come to fruition… and that’s what we’re thinking about right now,” Savage told me. And what exactly does “right now” mean? Well, “GG” season two has already wrapped and when I asked Stephanie to clarify, she did say Chuck-Blair would be a top priority for season three… and as long as the writers manage to drum up the same heat that Chuck and Blair had in the backseat of that limo when they begin writing for fall, I’d say the show is on track.
But does that mean Blair and Nate — What are we calling them now? Nair? ‘Cause they stink? — will be a big part of year two’s five remaining episodes? Sounds like it. “They have a little run,” Savage revealed. “I don’t want people to not be invested in that story because I think that when the Nate and Blair story finally ends, people will understand that it was necessary growth for both of the characters. They come out in a different place.”
So the lady’s got a plan, you guys. It’s all going to work out and, actually, she can even explain the reasoning behind this Nate and Blair reunion and why it makes sense right now: “It felt like, given the history that they had — when we met Blair, her whole story for the first half of the first season was very much about them feeling like they were destined to be together — it is very realistic. Especially since Blair has been feeling insecure lately — she’s found out that she’s not getting into Yale, her life isn’t going to end up like she thought it would and she’s kind of off the path she’d planned — Nate offers security, familiarity, and just kind of that nostalgia for that vision of herself that she had as a young girl, wanting to see that come to fruition as high school culminates. This is your high school boyfriend, this is who you always dreamed about finishing high school with. And when that dream presents itself, it’s going to be pretty appealing.”
Makes sense to me. But for those still worried the show is simply stalling on Chuck and Blair and that “Gossip Girl” will forever avoid a relationship between the two till we hit the series finale, there is more promising news.
When I asked Stephanie whether or not a Chuck-Blair pairing could work without tanking the drama, she seemed pretty confident that it would: “We think we had good success on [our first series] “The O.C.”, for example, with the Seth and Summer storyline, where they were really together as a couple for the vast majority of the show. We told stories where they were having issues and they were having obstacles, but in the context of them as a couple. So it’s not necessarily the case that once a couple comes together, they stop being interesting or stop being able to generate story.” Satisfied? This is all good, no?
And in the meantime, as Chuck has to wait out the whole my-best-friend-is-banging-my-girl storyline, the Vanessa thing will continue for a bit. But Savage explained that it certainly won’t have the same resonance as the Blair-Nate situation. And yes, I know some of you are disgusted by the temporary coupling of Chunessa, but come on, don’t you think it’s even just a little hot? They come from two completely different worlds and perspectives, they despise each other, and yet they’re finding comfort in one another while on common ground for the first time. You can at least agree that this is better than Chuck Basshole chasing after some stupid secret nanny prostitute or whatever that whole thing was, right?
Also, Stephanie told me she and her writing staff have not forgotten the fact that Nate and Chuck are supposed to be loyal to each other, given their longstanding friendship. Apparently the two boys have a very sweet story which will play out at the end of the season as they “kind of figure out the Blair of it all.” That’s a direct quote.
As for the whole Uncle Jack Bass-Blair of it all, the ball was not dropped on that storyline after all and will, in fact, come to full blossom in “Gossip Girl”‘s season finale. What happened — and as Stephanie told me, this is some good behind the scenes scoop — is the writers had originally planned for the big “what went down with Jack & Blair on New Years” reveal to play out in an episode earlier this year. The scene with Chuck finding out was even shot and partially shown in a preview for that episode. But when the producers watched the cut of it, they just felt like it wasn’t dealt with properly. It seemed as though an important piece of drama was being rushed through, so they ultimately decided to hold that information back and get a bigger story out of it at the end of the year. Mystery solved. So, thoughts?

Season 2, Episode 23: Lovechild
Season 2, Episode 24: Eyes Wide Open
Season 2, Episode 25: The Curious Case of Bart Bass
Ed Westwick is almost as crafty as the sly cad he plays on “Gossip Girl.” So, getting any kind of scoop from the British actor about the fictional life he leads as Chuck Bass on the CW drama is a nearly impossible task.
“Well, you know, we like to keep our audience on their toes,” he told MTV News about the current bed-hopping ways of the show’s New York City teens. “We just shot the finale for the season, and there’s an interesting conclusion. A happy one, I hope everyone will think.”
Westwick, who is currently dating co-star Jessica Szohr (Vanessa) in real life, also wouldn’t say whether Chuck and Blair (Leighton Meester) will eventually rekindle their flame.
“I can’t reveal these kinds of things,” he said, advising fans, “Watch! Watch. You have to watch!”
Although he knows how his own character will finish out the season, Westwick is apparently still in the dark about the soapy details of with Lily and Rufus’ presumed-dead secret lovechild. “I don’t know what’s going on,” he said, before warning us, “I’m not revealing anything, you know. You’re not gonna get me.”
Westwick was more open to talking about his ink, especially the “Heartbreak Hotel” tattoo that has captivated fans’ interest after he showed it off in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. “Elvis Presley,” he said of the inspiration for it. “That’s one of my old ones. Would have thought you would have mentioned one of the new ones. You’ll have to wait and see [them] when my shirt comes off in a photo shoot.”
‘Gossip Girl’s’ Nate & Switch…
There’s no new “Gossip Girl” this coming Monday, but this should help satiate your Upper East side appetite. Makes boring Nate look kind of not boring at all, no?
New ‘Gossip Girl’ Guide: ‘Nate and Switch’
on which girls Nate has been kissing in past. While having a story of Nate-Blair-Chuck, ‘Gossip Girl’ give an insight
A new edition of Gossip Guide for “Gossip Girl” has been released. Called “Nate and Switch”, the speak of the week is the adventurous love life of Nate Archibald who has been with almost all the girls in the series. In the first season, Nate started out as the boyfriend of Blair but had an affair with Serena. Post separated from Blair, Nate met Vanessa and dated her. In the second season, a twist of fate also brought Nate to Jenny’s arm and it caused a love triangle between them and Vanessa.
In the up and coming episodes, Nate will be fighting for his chance to get back to Blair since he knows that Chuck is also taking her heart. The synopsis for the April 20 episode is “When Blair and Chuck team together to expose Serena’s new beau, Nate sees a bond between them and tries to compete with Chuck by asking Blair to move in with him, which causes rivalry between the two and starts a game of ‘Who Will Win The Waldorf’ with unexpected results.”

Preview of ‘Gossip Girl’ 2.21: Serena Elopes
Looks like Serena is having trouble that requires the intervention of the law in the next ‘Gossip Girl’.
Serena might be in for the hugest mistake in her life. During a crazy night out, she said “si” to her new beau, which means that a marriage was happening. Also in the upcoming episode of “Gossip Girl“, Blair and Chuck team together to expose Serena’s new boyfriend. The bond between Blair and Chuck prompts Nate to ask Blair to move in with him, a competition that would soon expand to a game of “Who will win the Waldorf?” that ends with unexpected result. The catty Georgina Sparks and Aaron Rose’s father Cyrus are back. About her come back to the Upper East Side, Michelle Trachtenberg who plays Georgina, said previously, “I think there are definitely evil elements that Georgina can never leave behind, but you will be seeing a different, let’s say reformed, side of Georgina.” Meanwhile, in a previous casting report Armie Hammer has been cast to be the new love interest of Serena named Gabriel Serrano. This would be the kind of man that she never dated before, a European gentleman. However, Gabriel has met Serena’s friend Poppy Lifton first before her. The character will stay at least for three episodes.
Gossip Girl – Official 221 Promo (#2 . Extended : No Tradition Is Sacred)
We open on a New York morning, and Serena’s on the phone with Blair. Blair’s lying about where she is, saying she’s at home with Dorota when she’s really out on the street walking somewhere—wonder why?
Out in Brooklyn, Dan basks in his own importance with his first “fan letter” and his entry package to Yale. The Humphreys make jokes about how they were sure Jenny’s bad life choices would have led to her death before age 16, which she turns tomorrow. They head over to the van der Woodsens’ in Manhattan for breakfast before school, which means it must be about 5 AM right now. Which doesn’t stop Vanessa from popping in to worry about why Nate hasn’t called her in a week and let her apologize for getting mad at him last week. Just then, she gets an email from Nate asking her to stop by in half an hour.
Out on the street, Serena runs into Poppy, who is so pleased to tell Serena about her glorious life with her boyfriend Gabriel in Spain. They’re only in New York for 48 hours. Serena “updates” Poppy on her life, and Poppy notes that everything is exactly the same as when they last saw each other. Serena says she’s throwing a Sweet Sixteen party for a friend, and Poppy is unimpressed. She brushes Serena and her “little party” off, and Serena is sad to realize how boring and cyclical her life is.
The Humphreys get to the VDWs’ for breakfast. Lily (Kelly Rutherford) is so clearly pregnant, but maybe they’re trying to make it look like she has an eating problem, what with the massive spread of carbs she’s got on her kitchen island. The fam discusses Jenny’s birthday. Lily and S pitch their surprise: a lovely party with a caterer and a DJ. Jenny says she’d rather have a quiet night at home with the family and two nerds from her Chemistry class, with chili and board games. The VDWs say they will cancel the good party if she really wants them to. Rufus looks at the paperwork Dan gave him and sees that his Financial Aid application to Yale has been denied.
At school, S doesn’t understand why Little J doesn’t want a big party, and Eric speculates that maybe she’s worried no one would show up. The Plastics walk up to Serena and snidely thank her for canceling her party so they don’t need to pretend to feel bad for going to Penelope’s instead. Not one to be outdone by the Girls of the Steps, Serena decides to bring in the big guns, and calls Poppy.
Vanessa walks to Nate’s house and sees B and Nate together leaving Nate’s house, and hugging goodbye. Chuck approaches in his limo and says it’s been going all week. He’s the one who emailed her from Nate’s account (password “soccer” since fifth grade, because he had email when he was in fifth grade) and when she’s ready to do something about it, she should call him….READ FULL RECAP AT BUDDY TV

Before “Gossip Girl” returns for another run of scandals, The CW have released several clips as an intermezzo. Dubbed “Gossip Blast” the five clips display the scandalous scenes that have been captured by the gossip girl camera.
In “Slap”, Serena comes up to Dan, giving his cheek a good taste of her palm. This is the scene which has been included in the promo of the second season that took several weeks of break earlier this month. Similarly, “Shoplift” is also taken from the promo, showing Blair breaking free from her comfort zone.
“Catfight” meanwhile, recalls the physical fight between Blair and Serena when they vie for the same college in episode “New Haven Can Wait”. Clips “No Drink” and “Quadrangle” capture the Chuck-Blair chemistry, including his attempt to win her back.

Short of Dan and Little J, Chuck Bass and V are the last two people on Gossip Girl who would ever hook up. Right? Wrong. As you can see in the photo to the left, Vanessa and the Basshole are kissing in Monday’s all-new episode of Gossip Girl, “Remains of the J.” Could this possibly be an actual turn of events, or is it some kind of nutty dream sequence? Maybe they were just letting Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr have some fun? Sources whisper to us exclusively: “It’s real, and they do more than kissing.” Also on Monday, the sky turns orange, the earth rotates backward and locust swarms start eating the glass and steel off of skyscrapers.
Seriously, though, it’s probably a jealousy-inducing scheme designed to frak with their now-canoodling exes. According to the official description of the ep, “In a moment of weakness, Vanessa agrees to help Chuck with a scheme having to do with Blair and Nate.” For that matter, Jessica Szohr told us recently about the prospect of a reunited Nate and Blair: “Obviously, Vanessa’s a little bit hurt because that’s her boyfriend, but what comes around goes around, so I’m sure Vanessa will be all right.” Making Nate Archibald jealous by hooking up with Chuck Bass? Yeah, she’ll be all right. Will you be taking to a secret bunker in an undisclosed location or daring to face the world-shattering craziness of a Chuck and V makeout sesh?
What’s your theory of the why and how? Post in the comments.

Gossip Girl fan here. I want Blair and Chuck scoop!
Tonight’s C-B kiss (yes, kiss!) on Gossip Girl is wildly hot and happens in the midst of a totally classic Bluck confrontation scene. You could even call it Blucking up against a wall! Truly, if your devotion to the Chair relationship includes any kind of tolerance for “angst,” this is the episode for you. As for you Chuck-Blair hard-liners (you want it and you want it now), the kiss is not the kind of loving reconciliation you’re hoping for. In fact, by the end of the episode, Blair and Nate’s new thing is well underway. Sad face. (Watch With Kristin)
How about some scoop on Rufus and Lily for once!
Rufus and Lily are giving Gossip Girl a Lost-style TiVo moment. They decide to make lists of their past sexual assignations, and Lily’s list includes such rock star names as Slash and Trent Reznor. Save the screengrabs as a keepsake checklist for when the show-not-called-Lily premieres! (Watch With Kristin)
Any news on what’s up for Nate on Gossip Girl? Nate’s the center of tonight’s episode, and hey, it turns out that he’s actually New York political royalty. And as Spider-Man and the Kennedys already know, with great power comes great responsibility but not enough time for loved ones. Will Nate’s family obligations mean the end of his love affair with V? Tune in tonight to find out! (Watch With Kristin)
3/23 New ‘The Grandfather’
Devastated by the recent plot twist in her life, Blair turns her back on her predictable Waldorf existence in favor of a more wild and unpredictable lifestyle, causing Serena and Chuck to have serious concerns about their friend. Vanessa convinces Nate that it may be time to forgive and forget when it comes to his mother’s Kennedyesque family, The Vanderbilts, who abandoned Nate and his mother when they needed them most. In a misguided effort to be completely honest with each other, Lily and Rufus agree to share lists of their past lovers.
LILY AND RUFUS
The Lily-Rufus plot line is pure filler, but still enjoyable. While working with her art dealer, Lily learns that she and Rufus used to date. Lily is caught off guard by this and asks Rufus if he has any other secrets he’d like to share.
Rufus asks if she really wants to go there, and she suggests that they make a list of all their exes. She regrets this immediately but is now forced to go through with it.
The next night at dinner, Rufus hands her an index card with about a dozen names. Balking at its small size, Lily pulls only half her list from her purse – and it’s still enormous. Rufus is slightly taken aback, but knows she had a wild past and lets it go. When he reaches into her purse to tip the Chinese food delivery guy later, though, he finds the other half.
He is, understandably, thrown off by the fact that there were that many more guys in her life, but even more upset that she kept it from him.
Rufus walks out angry, but comes back later that night with a new list – of things Lily loves. That’s all he needs to know, about them and about their future. They make up.
NATE AND VANESSA
Vanessa tells Dan how excited she is for her upcoming summer in Europe. She and Nate are going to travel throughout the continent, just the two of them.
She and Dan are going to Nate’s to watch college basketball, but it turns out someone beat them there – his cousin, Tripp, who’s encouraging Nate to attend the family reunion this weekend, saying their grandfather really wants to see him.
Nate wants none of it because his family didn’t stand by him in his time of need. V encourages him to bury the hatchet. Accompanied by Vanessa and Dan, he decides to show up.
There, he learns from Tripp that the grandfather didn’t exactly ask for him to be there – it was all Tripp’s idea. But the grandfather is indeed happy to see Nathaniel standing there when he gets off his private helicopter at the family estate.
Nate and the grandfather have a heart-to-heart. Instead of being ashamed, as Nate assumed he was, the Vanderbilt family patriarch was proud of the way Nate convinced his dad to do the right thing. He wants to take Nate back under his wing.
While Dan and Nate play touch football with his relatives, Tripp’s fiancee tells Vanessa how the grandfather is a powerful man, and thinks highly of politics and public service. He is grooming Tripp for powerful positions down the line, and will do so for Nate if he has his way.
Later, right before the big family banquet, Vanessa finds out from Tripp – before Nate even said anything – that their grandfather pulled some strings and got Nate an internship at the mayor’s office.
She confronts Nate about it, and he’s clearly torn – he likes V and wants to spend the summer with her, but the fact that his grandfather wants him to be part of their legacy and believes in him means a lot.
MEANWHILE, IN THE LIFE OF BLAIR WALDORF …
Spurned by Yale, Blair eschews her traditional Waldorf life in favor of a more wild and unpredictable lifestyle, causing Serena and Chuck to have serious concerns about their friend.
Chuck is shocked and appalled to stop by her home and find her wearing some sexy attire … with Carter Baizen getting dressed. Chuck pleads with Blair to ditch this loser, but she’s bizarro Blair now, and seems to be enjoying this fling with Carter. She blows Chuck off.
He decides right then and there to get rid of Baizen, whatever it takes.
He’s having trouble getting dirt on Carter, though, until Serena tells him she’ll take care of it.
Serena basically blackmails Carter to leave town ASAP or she will dish on what happened between them in Santorini. Those details aren’t revealed to us, but her plan works and he hits the road – but not before he says that he’s just a symptom of Blair’s disease, not the cure. Getting rid of him won’t get them their friend back.
Meanwhile, Blair sneaks off again, destination unknown. Dorota caves and tells Chuck and Serena where she is.
They’re thinking it’s some crazy party, but it’s really the home of a dean of a small college, where Blair is begging for a chance at admission. He denies her because of the hazing incident, however, sending her spiraling even harder out of control.
Doubly embarrassed to be rejected from a lesser school AND caught in the act by Chuck and Serena, she vows that the Blair Waldorf everyone knows is officially dead.
The next day, Chuck learns that Blair is planning on attending Nate’s family reunion, and that’s when …
THE STORY LINES INTERTWINE …
Blair immediately starts making snarky comments to all the high-society New Yorkers at the mansion about how they’re alcoholics, gold diggers, etc. The heck with social tact – the new Blair Waldorf is going to burn every bridge and have fun doing it.
Chuck confronts her about her behavior and says it isn’t the real her. She asks if he remembers the first time he saw the real her, at Victrola.
B moves in close, starts kissing him and seductively tells him to take her now. Chuck won’t do it, though, saying she’s not the Blair he wants.
She never will be again, she says, and abruptly leaves.
Nate finds Blair off by herself, wondering how her life has gone so awry. He too is reeling from the expectations placed upon him, and clearly finds some level of comfort in being alone with his ex. He pours his heart out.
They confide in each other, as Nate reveals his own insecurities over who he has always felt he must become, as opposed to who he really is. He tells her that she is Blair Waldorf, and that will never change. They smile.
Back at the party, Nate’s grandfather introduces him proudly to the whole family, and Nate makes a little speech about how he’s excited to take the job and the mayor’s office. Sad V goes to the Humphreys and cries.
Later, Chuck tells Serena what happened between him and Blair. Serena tells Chuck to fight for Blair, to go after what he wants, to be the person she needs him to be. Emboldened by this pep talk, C heads off to B’s home.
In the foyer, he is greeted by Dorota, who says Blair is asleep. Chuck says to tell Blair he has something he needs to tell her. Dorota says she will, in the morning.
That’s when Chuck sees … Nate’s jacket by the stairs!
Up in Blair’s room, Nate was just making sure she got home okay, and was about to leave, but she takes his hand and tells him to stay …

I love Gossip Girl, but I think this Eyes Wide Shut storyline is the single stupidest thing the show has done, and Elle is the worst character ever. Please tell me she’s never coming back!
MICKEY: Never say never, H.C.! But it’s a pretty safe bet that Monday’s double-cross marks the narrative end of that Pretty Woman. In the meantime, remember when we asked how to fix Gossip Girl? Well, I have it on good authority that these final episodes will address two of our problems directly, which means some fun work coming up for both Blake Lively and Chace Crawford. Source: TV Guide

Blair Waldorf is a big ol’ tramp!
How else would you explain the photos above: same girl, same outfit, same afternoon, same NYC street, sucking face with…two different costars?
As reported yesterday, Leighton Meester (Blair) shot a scene yesterday for Gossip Girl in front of the Sony building in Manhattan and was snapped by photogs kissing on again, off again love interest Ed Westwick (Chuck).
What we didn’t know is that she was also photographed smooching Chace Crawford (Nate), the ex-beau she is—spoiler alert!—cozying up to in the next episode of Gossip Girl.
So what is the real story? Is she really kissing both boys? I just checked in with sources and Gossip boss Josh Schwartz himself…
During an interview about Schwartz’s new Web-only series Rockville, which launched today right here (we’ll have much more scoop on that later), I asked him if the dual paparazzi photos of Blair kissing Chuck and Nate may have been a red herring to throw off fans.
“Hmmm,” he said after a long pause. “That would be a great idea!”
An inside source who works on the show tells me: “If she was in the same outfit it was probably to throw off the photogs. But she does kiss both [Nate and Chuck] at some point in the last couple of episodes.”
Personally, I’d put good money on the Nate photo op being a rouse. (Which would also explain why Leighton seems to be laughing.)
So what can we expect from the Chuck-Blair-Nate love triangle as the season comes to an end? “That will be a big part of the storyline,” Schwartz tells me. “It’s graduation, so it’s all about what is the future for these characters and the show? Where’s everyone going to be next year? Chuck, Blair and Nate are obviously a big story we’re telling.”
Also on tap: “Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) returns, which is always fun,” Schwartz says. “She comes back very different from the last time you saw her.”
In the meantime, do you believe either of the photos above are a trick? And who are you hoping Blair ends up with this season?
It’s been a long and lonely winter without new Gossip Girl to keep warm the cockles of our wicked hearts–but tonight’s the night! It’s finally back—everyone’s favorite fictional snobs, snakes, and celebutantes are back tonight. Let’s refresh what last we saw on the Upper East Side: Dan Hump-rhey and Serena’s ment-whore were hooking up, Chuck was on a hunt to find his mysterious escort dream-girl, and Blair got herself in and out of trouble with Miss Carr, but in the end her acceptance to Yale appeared safe.
Tonight, Gossip Girl welcomes us with some Shakespeare: ‘All the world’s a stage’ on the Upper East Side, she says, and this week it’s quite literal, since the seniors are putting on their (mandatory) class play, “The Age of Innocence”. The sly Chuck Bass (of course) managed to bribe a doctor into diagnosing him with “acute stagefright,” so he’ll be off on his own dramatic adventures tonight.
Blair is playing Lady Oleska, the “stronger, more emotionally complex” female lead (her description), while Serena will grace the stage as “pretty” (but clearly simple-headed) May. Before rehearsal, Blair and Serena chat about Dan and Serena’s new crush on their director Julien. In the background, Dorota sees how she’d look with some curly extensions (Fierce, Dorota!). Blair reminds Serena for us that she should be sick of brooding artists by now, but S is clearly addicted. Then bad news strikes: it seems Nelly Yuki got direct word from the Dean she’s been accepted early to Yale. But only one Constance girl per year gets that spot, and it was Blair. Which means….READ FULL RECAP AT BUDDY TV

Gossip Girl fans, this is shaping up to be the best Monday ever.
Not only does the show finally return tonight (thank you, CW!), but the next two episodes are quite honestly better than ever (IMHO), and you’ll never guess who was spotted just hours ago making out on a public sidewalk!
OK, so the photo above totally gives it away. But how do they get there? Is it really what it seems? What is the inside scoop?
What happens with Chuck and Blair!?
Here’s what I can tell you:
- Chuck is coming to his senses (about luuuhhhving Blair).
- Blair is hooking up with Carter Baizen, played by Leighton’s real-life boyfriend, Sebastian Stan, who just so happens to play a dead ringer for Chuck Bass on NBC’s Kings. Some girls get all the naughty boys with smoldering good looks!
- Blair is hooking up with Nate.
- You’ll be surprised at how much the Blair-Nate repairing does not suck (at least, not in its initial stages). Honest.
- Chuck and Blair = So. Not. Over. For proof, see photo above!
Give us some good gossip on Gossip Girl or I’ll cry!
Well, we can’t have that now, can we?
- Serena is arrested, and you won’t believe who calls the cops on her.
- Rufus buys an engagement ring!
- Prom is coming up, and I ask you, what’s a Gossip Girl prom without a little roofie action?
If Nate and Blair are getting back together, what about Chuck? How will he deal with it?

Gossip Girl returns Monday night with the first of eight all-new episodes to close out Season 2. Think there’s gonna be some wild drama? Count on it. Executive producer Stephanie Savage hinted as much in response to a question about the soon-to-reappear Georgina Sparks (played by Michelle Trachtenberg): “You need to have one unhinged sociopath, don’t you?” Serena’s longtime nemesis will surprise you with her bizarre ‘change’ in four upcoming episodes, and Savage didn’t discount Georgina’s presence on the show next season. Savage also told The Futon Critic why she loves writing about teen angst. “It allows you to tell stories where characters can make really bad decisions and not be judged too harshly for them. Teenagers have such a spectrum of emotions and choices they can make where ultimately you can forgive them and fold them back into the family because they’re learning and they don’t know any better. You have a much larger canvas on which to paint.” Trachtenberg, incidentally, has a major role in 17 Again, a big-screen comedy which should do gangbusters at the box-office when it premieres April 17. She co-stars with Zac Efron, Matthew Perry (Chandler on Friends) and Adam Gregory (Ty on 90210).

- The writers fully understand that Chuck and Blair belong together, but they can’t just couple them up and be done with it. You’d get bored, don’t you think? Instead, they have to throw roadblocks like Nate Archibald, Carter Baizen (played by Leighton Meester ‘s real life boyfriend) and that Gentleman’s Club chick in the way. Yes, not only will Blair and Nate be a thing, but Blair will give it up to Carter even before that, and Chuck will fall for the shady lady he was stalking last we saw him. The Constance Billard and St. Jude seniors put on a production of The Age of Innocence and find their personal lives mirroring conflicts in the play. Blair receives devastating news about her future that leads her on a witchhunt for the person responsible. Dan and Rachel (guest star Laura Breckenridge) agree to stay away from each other in the aftermath of being discovered as more than teacher and student, but find it impossible to keep that promise. Chuck enlists help from an unlikely source, his nemesis Carter Baizen (guest star Sebastian Stan).
“Gossip Girl” is finally back! It’s finally back! Can you tell me, have you seen tonight’s episode? Is it worth my overwhelming excitement?
It is. If you felt like “Gossip” was lacking a bit of luster in its episodes of late, you’ll be pleased to know that this evening’s hour delivers on several important levels: the wardrobe, the drama and the devilish wit. Granted, there is very little Chuck-Blair time, but the two characters have separate stories to contend with this week. They’ll butt heads quite a bit next Monday.
Anything on “Gossip Girl”?
Rufus and Lily are making a “past loves” list. Let’s just say the former Mrs. Bart Bass has been around the block… like 50 or 60 times more than Mr. Humphrey. And he’s a former band member who toured the country on a bus, so you know, that’s kinda bad. But instead of just owning it, Lily may decide to cover her tracks. Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV

Question: Got any Gossip Girl/Jenny Humphrey scoops?
Ausiello: According to exec producer Stephanie Savage, Dan’s kid sis “has a big Blair, Mean Girls story for the end of the season that also ties in with the Rufus/Lily story. And you will see that a new course has been charted for Jenny Humphrey in the fall.” Source: The Ausiello Files
Question: Do we know anything about Gossip Girl‘s prom episode?
Ausiello: Only that No Doubt will be performing, just not in this decade and not as No Doubt. “No Doubt is going to be playing in our ’80s flashback/[spin-off] episode,” reveals Stephanie Savage. “They’re playing an up-and-coming ’80s band.” Source: The Ausiello Files

Please, I need some Gossip Girl scoop on Blair and Chuck! And good news, too. I’m tired of the bad news.
I can offer you a little good news about Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl, but unfortunately it’s just a setup for the bad news. Nate notices that Chuck and Blair have a major bond (yay!), but that leads him to respond/retaliate by asking Blair to move in with him (boo!). However, there will be some upcoming Chair scenes for you kiddos, because Mr. and Mrs. Marvelous join forces to investigate Serena’s new man, whom they agree they both don’t much like. At least it’s something.
What’s up with season three of Gossip Girl? Do we know anything yet?
I know that Blair gets into NYU and Nate gets into Columbia.
Anything coming up with the Elle/Chuck storyline on Gossip Girl?
According to Kate French (Elle), “Elle kind of steals Chuck Bass’ heart, and it gets really complicated, and he gets entangled in all of these webs of lies and different storylines that are going on. It’s very mysterious.” Hopefully Chuck won’t be smitten for too long, but then again how can we blame him when Blair’s about to go off and hook up with his BFF, Nate? Source: Kristin on E!Online
Korbi, You said that Nate and Blair would be a blip in the Gossip Girl time line, but now I hear that Nate is gonna ask Blair to move in with him. No hope for Chuck and Blair this season? Please, answer me, I really would like to know. I feel like giving up Gossip Girl.
Don’t give up, woman. There is always hope for Chuck and Blair. Always. The writers fully understand that C.B. and Blair belong together, but they can’t just couple them up and be done with it. You’d get bored, don’t you think? Instead, they have to throw roadblocks like Nate Archibald, Carter Baizen (played by Leighton Meester‘s real life boyfriend) and that Gentleman’s Club chick in the way. Yes, not only will Blair and Nate be a thing, but Blair will give it up to Carter even before that, and Chuck will fall for the shady lady he was stalking last we saw him. The good news is, there are a few quality Chuck-Blair scenes on tap for the March 23rd episode. Chuck’s affection for Ms. Waldorf will rise to the surface once again. It’s just too little too late for the time being.
If Blair and Nate are going to be together, what happens to him and Vanessa? I like them together.
Me too. And they will be together when we jump back into the Gossip world next Monday. Actually, they’ll be together the following week too. But issues between them will begin to flare up, and ultimately, it seems their lack of common interests and disparate backgrounds will be the death of them.
What’s up with Dan and the teacher on Gossip Girl? Will they get caught?
Affirmative. Rufus finds out what’s going on and he’s not happy. However, Rachel has a dark side that we haven’t yet seen. Seems she has more in common with Blair than we were led to believe. Source: KTV: Korbi TV @ Zap2it.com
Clip of ‘Gossip Girl’ Reveals the Return of Chuck’s Nemesis
In ‘The Age of Dissonance’, ‘Gossip Girl’ will bring back in town Carter who surprisingly has a link to Chuck’s mysterious fling, Elle.
Source: Ace Showbiz TV News
A week away from the return of “Gossip Girl” on TV screen, The CW have released a clip that features the re-appearance of Carter Baizen (guest star Sebastian Stan). Upon arriving at a restaurant, Chuck spotted Carter dining with a woman whom he recognized as Elle. Kate French who plays Elle dished out the relationship between her character and Chuck, saying “Elle kind of steals Chuck Bass’ heart, and it gets really complicated, and he gets entangled in all of these webs of lies and different storylines that are going on. It’s very mysterious.” Meanwhile, Carter is brought back to help Chuck in winning over Blair.
The March 16 episode is titled “The Age of Dissonance”, a reference to the play “The Age of Innocence” which will be put in production by the students of Constance Billard and St. Jude. Serena develops a crush on the play’s director, Julian (guest star Harmon Walsh), and enlists Vanessa’s knowledge of theater to help her get the otherwise uninterested guy’s attention. Blair receives devastating news about her future that leads her on a witch-hunt for the person responsible. Dan and Rachel agree to stay away from each other in the aftermath of being discovered as more than teacher and student, but find it impossible to keep that promise.
Gossip Girl: Did V Get Cool While We Were Gone?
Source: Kristin on E!Online
Only one week left until new Gossip Girl (the next new ep premieres Mar. 16 at 8 p.m. on the See-Dub), and since we last saw our Upper East Siders, the world apparently went mad, because Vanessa gained a smidge of self-deprecating cool! Check her out and see for yourself in the clip above. She goes out on double date with Serena and the world’s most pretentious guy and comes out ahead. And in the first of the two clips below V gets even cooler (we don’t make the news, we just report it!), and in the second, Chuck tangles with returning guest star Sebastian Star…
Good to see the gang again, don’t you think?
During its first season, Gossip Girl was a frothy guilty pleasure, the sort of television viewing experience that didn’t tax your brain while it offered up a wry tongue-in-cheek look at the scandals of Manhattan’s elite, employing a sardonic wit to chronicle the age-old rivalries between well-heeled high schoolers on the Upper East Side.
Somewhere along the way, Gossip Girl lost its spark. The next two episodes, which kick off next Monday evening on the CW, seem to exist as a sort of shadow of its formerly flush self. Where’s the series’ fun, the intrigue, the devilish twinkle it used to have in abundance?
After a string of disappointing episodes, I was hoping to find that the series had returned to form when it launches a new batch of installments next week. However, the first hour, entitled “Age of Dissonance,” was painful to watch. Focusing on some truly irritating subplots like the much maligned pairing between Penn Badgley’s Dan and Laura Breckinridge’s Shakespeare teacher Rachel and Chuck’s Eyes Wide Shut-inspired foray into the world of underground sex clubs, this episode tries to wrap up these awful storylines while advancing the plot but only manages to irritate more than engage.
Throwing in a heretofore unmentioned senior class play (in which everyone has a role) based on Edith Wharton’s “Age of Innocence” is a head-scratcher. Yes, using this particular source material as a statement about the character’s own romantic and personal choices is about as subtle as hitting the audience over the head with an anvil but the writers miss an opportunity for some real humor by staging some unfunny moments between Dan and Blair in a carriage and Nelly Yuki in a fat suit… and forcing us to watch the characters engage in some dreadful faux English accents on stage for far too long. Yawn.
While the network has requested that I not give away any major plot points from these episodes, I will say that at least “The Age of Dissonance” does wrap up both the Dan/Rachel and Chuck/sex club storylines pretty neatly and tries to throw in a twist or two in the process… neither of which is particularly surprising or compelling. Meanwhile, look for Serena to fall for the play’s director Julian (guest star Harmon Walsh) and to turn to Vanessa for help in a Cyrano de Bergerac sort of way. (Vanessa continues to irk; here she’s filming a documentary about the making of the school play as a means for being involved with the episode’s overarching plot.) Elsewhere, Blair faces the loss of everything she’s worked for, Dan must make a difficult decision, and Carter Baizen (Sebastian Stan) returns to town to shake things up for several characters.
While “The Age of Dissonance” is a real snoozer, the following week’s episode, entitled “Grandfather,” is a least somewhat of a step in the right direction. I wasn’t thrilled about this installment either, compared with earlier episodes of Gossip Girl, but it’s relatively more engaging and winning than the previous week’s episode. Unfortunately, it focuses heavily on Nate and Vanessa (never a good thing, in my book) and a subplot involving Nate’s powerful grandfather (guest star James Naughton) and his Kennedyesque family as Nate is forced to make a choice about his future.
However, “Grandfather” does feature some on-screen time for Kelly Rutherford’s Lily and Matthew Settle’s Rufus, easily still the most interesting and compelling characters on the series. Look for these two to spar when details about their past love lives emerge. While it’s a more trivial storyline than we’ve seen them involved with of late, it’s a welcome distraction from the shrill Nate/Vanessa storyline in this installment. (If you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge proponent for the typically more interesting adult storyline this season.)
Elsewhere, the episode features a storyline for Blair that I feel we’ve already seen twice so far in the season and a half that Gossip Girl has been on the air, which is real problem given the relative shortness of its run so far. And keep your eyes open for yet another romantic permutation between the characters to take flight.
All in all, I was really hoping for more from the return of Gossip Girl. The series thrives when it manages to shock and surprise with a combination of soapy plot twists and sly humor but these episodes don’t manage to do either particularly well. Despite being such a young series, the next two installments definitely make it seem like this Gossip Girl is already in need of a (narrative) face lift.
Episode 2.22: Loose Ends Airdate: April 27, 2009
- Michelle Trachtenberg (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”) returns as the manipulative Georgina Sparks in a four-episode arc. Source: The CW
- Georgina Sparks is back on Gossip Girl, and when E! News caught up with her on the set, Michelle Trachtenberg revealed, “We’re filming a scene that’s actually the first time we see Georgina. She has a little run-in with Chuck Bass, who is in shock and awe at her new attire and getup and demeanor.” Looky loos on the set spied a less-glamazony Georgina than the one we remember from last year-could she have been the victim of a tragic makeunder, or is something more extreme afoot? Here’s what we’re hearing about Georgina’s shocking transformation, along with her relationships with ex-lover Dan and sworn enemy Blair… According to our spies, the big Chuck-Georgina reunion happens in the park when Chuck comes upon a group of oddly dressed people at a log cabin. The assembled young people are all wearing T-shirts that read “OMJC,” and one asks Chuck, “Are you a wayward soul in search of direction?” Right about then a hippie-looking, creepy, smiley and altogether weird-seeming Georgina pops up and asks if Chuck’s been saved as well. Has G been brainwashed by a cult? Michelle says, “I think there are definitely evil elements that Georgina can never leave behind, but you will be seeing a different, let’s say reformed, side of Georgina.” Madness! Now, what will this mean for Georgina’s relationships with the rest of the Upper East Siders? According to Michelle, “Georgina has some unfinished business with Blair, but how that’s going to transpire, I’m not sure. Could be a handshake, could be a fistfight, could get wild and crazy, and seeing as how we left Dan and Georgina, there were some crazy sparks a brewin’. I’m sure there will be fireworks.” Source: Kristin on E!Online

MONDAY, MARCH 23 “GOSSIP GIRL” (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) “The Grandfather” (CONTENT RATING TBD) (HDTV) BLAIR WALDORF EXPLORES HER DARK SIDE Devastated by the recent plot twist in her life, Blair (Leighton Meester) turns her back on her predictable Waldorf existence in favor of a more wild and unpredictable lifestyle, causing Serena (Blake Lively) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) to have serious concerns about their friend. Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) convinces Nate (Chace Crawford) that it may be time to forgive and forget when it comes to his mother’s Kennedyesque family, The Vanderbilts, who abandoned Nate and his mother when they needed them most. In a misguided effort to be completely honest with each other, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) and Rufus (Matthew Settle) agree to share lists of their past lovers. Penn Badgley and Taylor Momsen also star. Gossip Girl Spinoff: Meet the Cast of the CW’s Lily

Sources confirm that the CW is in advanced talks to bring Cynthia Watros (Lost) and Andrew McCarthy (Lipstick Jungle) onboard the Gossip Girl spinoff tentatively titled Lily. Cynthia and Andrew would play CeCe and Rick Rhodes, Lily’s parents and Serena’s grandparents. (Caroline Lagerfelt plays CeCe on the current series.) With mom and pop cast, the producers have now filled out the starting regular-castmember lineup for Lily. And some more good news for us dual Gossip Girl-Veronica Mars fans: Reps for Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars, Party Down) confirm that he will also hook up with Lily in the ’80s, reportedly as one of her new Valley pals.
Already onboard and previously announced:
Brittany Snow (American Dreams, Nip/Tuck) will be young Lily Rhodes. (Kelly Rutherford plays her on the current series as a grown, much-married woman) Shiloh Fernandez is set to play Owen, a possible love interest for Lily. Our girl Krysten Ritter (Veronica Mars, Breaking Bad) will be Lily’s wild-child older sister Carol.
Also appearing in the “backdoor pilot” episode airing May 11 is No Doubt, playing themselves in the 1980s before Gwen Stefani went solo, back when they were just kids.
Serena’s father revealed?
“One Tree Hill” alum Matt Barr has been cast in the CW’s “Gossip Girl” spinoff as Keith van der Woodsen, a rich and handsome Malibu prince who is the love interest to Lily Rhodes (Brittany Snow). Set in 1980s Los Angeles, the “Gossip Girl” spinoff chronicles Lily’s wild teen years. While the producers of the WBTV/Alloy project wouldn’t give more clues about the Keith character, speculation is that he could be Lily’s future husband (Lily’s married name is Lily van der Woodsen) and father of Serena van der Woodsen. Barr, repped by Pakula King and Luber Roklin, next appears on CBS’ limited series “Harper’s Island.”
Lily: The Premise
The show will be a prequel, with a “back door pilot” airing May 11 in replacement of a Gossip Girlepisode. The show focuses on Serena’s mother, Lily van der Woodsen (nee Rhodes), as a troubled teenager in 1980′s Los Angeles. Young Lily moves out of her wealthy parents’ home in Montecito to live with her outcast sister in the Valley, where we’ll see her living her oft-mentioned rock ‘n’ roll memories as she attends public school, experiences the glamor of Hollywood and the excess of the Sunset Strip, and of course get tangled up with some bad boys.
Pictured: Krysten Ritter as Carol Rhodes, Brittany Snow as Lily Rhodes.
Brittany Snow as Lily Rhodes
Snow will play the title character, Lily Rhodes–the younger version of Lily van der Woodsen, played by Kelly Rutherford on Gossip Girl, and mother to lead Serena (Blake Lively).
Krysten Ritter as Carol Rhodes
Ritter will play Carol, Lily’s troubled older sister, the “black sheep” of the family who takes Lily in after a fall-out with their parents.
Cynthia Watros as Celia ‘CeCe’ Rhodes
Watros will portray stone-cold socialite CeCe Rhodes, Lily’s mother. On Gossip Girl, CeCe is played by the fabulously frigid Caroline Lagerfelt, who sticks her stuck-up nose into Lily and Serena’s business with the Humphrey boys. We doubt she was any different in the 80′s.
Andrew McCarthy as Rick Rhodes
McCarthy will play Lily’s father Rick Rhodes, a high-powered music company executive.
Matt Barr as Keith van der Woodsen
Finally, Serena’s father revealed! (We think.) Meet Keith van der Woodsen, a wealthy Malibu scion who’s sure to romance Lily sooner or later, given her married name on Gossip Girl.
Shiloh Fernandez as Owen
Owen is set to be a brooding L.A. valley punk “with a caustic wit,” and more than likely a love interest for Lily.
Ryan Hansen as Shep
CW alum Hansen is set to play Shep, Owen’s friend who reportedly has a thing for the other Rhodes sister, Carol.
Special Guest: No Doubt
Also appearing in the “backdoor pilot” episode airing May 11 will be No Doubt, playing themselves in the 1980s, before fame and a solo Gwen Stefani.
March 16 Sebastian Stan (“Kings”) returns for multiple episodes as Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) nemesis, Carter Baizen.
March 30 Tamara Feldman (“Dirty, Sexy Money”) returns as Poppy Lifton, joined by Armie Hammer in the role of Gabriel Edwards, Poppy’s boyfriend who sweeps Serena (Blake Lively) off her feet on a romantic vacation. Both guest stars will appear in multiple episodes.
April 20 Wallace Shawn (“The Princess Bride”) returns as Cyrus Rose, Eleanor Waldorf’s (Margaret Colin) husband.
April 27 Michelle Trachtenberg (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”) returns as the manipulative Georgina Sparks in a four-episode arc.
THE SENIORS PUT ON A PRODUCTION OF “THE AGE OF INNOCENCE”/SEBASTIAN STAN (“KINGS”) RETURNS AS CARTER BAIZEN — The Constance Billard and St. Jude seniors put on a production of “The Age of Innocence” and find their personal lives mirroring conflicts in the play. Serena (Blake Lively) develops a crush on the play’s director, Julian (guest star Harmon Walsh), and enlists Vanessa’s (Jessica Szohr) knowledge of theater to help her get the otherwise uninterested guy’s attention. Blair (Leighton Meester) receives devastating news about her future that leads her on a witch-hunt for the person responsible. Dan (Penn Badgley) and Rachel (guest star Laura Breckenridge) agree to stay away from each other in the aftermath of being discovered as more than teacher and student, but find it impossible to keep that promise. Chuck (Ed Westwick) enlists help from an unlikely source, his nemesis Carter Baizen (guest star Sebastian Stan). Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Matthew Settle also star. Norman Buckley directed the episode written by Jessica Queller (#218).
Oh, CW. You cruel, cruel network! Not only have we gone a good month without such a peep from the lovely voice of Kristen Bell regarding the latest 411 on our favorite Upper East Siders, we still have two more weeks to go before the next new episode of Gossip Girl.
Thankfully, though, to scratch you G.G. fans’ itch, I have the answer to the No. 1 question you’ve been asking: Is there any hope for Dan and Serena? Plus, the latest on Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg).
Eric Liebowitz/ The CW
Hey, I’m dying without my Gossip Girl fix! Please, is there any hope for Serena and Dan now that they have a half-dead-sibling? Anything else you can spill?
Correction: They have a half sibling who is fully alive and whom we will see on the show! And because of that and more, I’m told by a source: “Serena and Dan are really over.” Done. Kaput. No hope for them this season. Sorry! Anyone need a hug? Join me in the comments. As for the rest of the season, Serena will be cozying up big time to her new boy-toy (played by Armie Hammer) and a source tells me: “The last few episodes of the season are chock-full of some of the biggest OMFG moments of the series.” I think I just tinkled a little. Why do I love this show so? Darn you, Josh Schwartz and your TV crack!
I can’t wait for Georgina to come back to Gossip Girl! Any chance we’ll see more of her next season, too?
I’m just as excited as you are, especially after all of the goodies we just revealed about Georgina’s return! Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina) tells us nothing has been decided just yet about her Gossip Girl fate, but her answer did have us leaning toward a yes! “A character like Georgina is so fantastic, and there are so many elements that are exciting and untapped, so you never know.” And while she has nothing planned, Michelle went on to say that she would definitely be open to a full-time TV gig, whether it’s G.G. or something new. “I think the wonderful thing about doing TV shows is that you get a few months out of the year to do films as well, so you get the best out of every world.” Did you hear that Josh Schwartz? Start working on another masterpiece for this girl!
You know what they say about great minds… A week after I floated the idea of Brittany Snow playing a young Lily in The CW’s forthcoming Gossip Girl spin-off, the former American Dreams ingénue has emerged as the front-runner for the role! This Just in: Her deal has closed! It’s official! It’s Emily VanCamp all over again! The GG offshoot will be set in Los Angeles and chronicle the teen years of Kelly Rutherford’s alter ego. Snow joins a cast that includes Krysten Ritter (as Lily’s older sis) and Jericho’s Shilo Fernandez (as brooding valley punk). The backdoor pilot will air May 11 as part of a regular Gossip Girl episode. The show is considered a lock to land on The CW’s fall schedule.
If you’ve been following the saga of the Gossip Girl spinoff, you may have heard that American Dreams star Brittany Snow was in the running to play the future Lily van der Woodsen (née Rhodes and played by Kelly Rutherford on the existing show, of course). Well, we caught up with confirmed spinoff castmember Krysten Ritter last night at the premiere party for her current show, Breaking Bad, and she revealed that Snow is a go to play her sister! She told us exclusively, “They just cast Brittany Snow. It’s definitely official, and I think I’m the first one to know that. It wasn’t official earlier, I saw on the Internet, but now it is official.”
But what else does she know about the characters and, most important, their hair? Here’s what Krysten dished… Krysten says of her role as Carol Rhodes, “I’m so excited. I scored. It’s a fantastic part. The character is so good—she’s a total badass black sheep of the family. It’s set in the ’80s.” As for the casting of her new baby sister, little Lily, Krysten thinks, “It’s going to be so good. I’m excited. I think that her and I together will have a great time, and it’s going to center around both of us and I think it’s going to be good.”
And regarding the terribly important issue of hairstyles, Krysten says, “I think I’m probably staying with the black hair, and I think she’s probably going blond. But I’m sure it will be all crimped, and…bust out the Aqua Net!” (Hell to the yes.)Source:

Good news, fans of all things CW. The network just announced that it has renewed Smallville, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and 90210 for next season. America’s Next Top Model has also been greenlit for two additional cycles.
“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” CW boss Dawn Ostroff said in a statement. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”
While the Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model pickups were a foregone conclusion, the fates of Smallville, Supernatural, One Tree Hill, and 90210 were less certain. In the case of Smallville and One Tree Hill, a lot was riding on which of those show’s core cast-members would be returning. Smallville‘s renewal clearly signals that Tom Welling has successfully concluded his contract negotiations with producer Warner Bros, but the same can’t be said for OTH leading man Chad Michael Murray. The actor-writer’s participation next season is TBD, although insiders say he’s expected to return in some capacity.
Conspicuously missing from The CW’s slew of renewals: The freshman gem that is Privileged. However, that doesn’t mean the show has been canceled, a CW source insists. “No final decision has been made yet,” the insider says. Translation: Watch tonight’s season finale, dammit!
Reaction to all the renewals? Do you deem any of them unworthy? And does Privileged deserve a shot at another year? And what about fellow bubble shows Reaper, The Game, and Everybody Hates Chris? Sound off below!
Any scoop on the Gossip Girl spinoff?
Krysten Ritter, who plays Lily’s big sis, Carol Rhodes, tells us “It’s set on the Sunset Strip, and I am down for whatever. I’m excited to see what they do with my hair. Like Tess McGill, Working Girl hair.” Ah, break out the Aqua Net!… Source: Kristin on E!Online

Three Short Promos of ‘Gossip Girl’: The Age of Dissonance
Blair showing her true self to Chuck, Blair taking count on security and Serena slapping Dan are found in three short promos of ‘Gossip Girl’.
After a big break, “Gossip Girl” will return on March 16 with the episode called “The Age of Dissonance” and to fill in the gap, The CW have released three short promos. One is on Blair-Chuck chemistry, another one is Blair taking without paying and the last one is Serena slapping Dan to invigorate herself.
In the episode, Chuck is having trouble dealing with the mystery that was his father and the way in which his spare time was managed. Meanwhile, Nate catches Vanessa flirting with another guy, and at a moment of desperation, reluctantly turns to Blair for help.
Dan purposely ignores Serena’s calls and tells Miss Carr that things are beyond a little complicated between the two of them right now. Miss Carr chooses not to take her job back and spends most of her time in an empty apartment with her new fling, who doesn’t seem to be quite grieving from his recent break-up.
At the same time, Lily and Rufus question where their relationship is going and talk casually about merging their households, Chuck however, is against the idea, and does everything in his power to stop it.

‘Gossip Girl’ Speak of the Week: ‘Basstalk’ Plus New Poster
The newly released Gossip Guide centers on Bass and his foul language that leads to A Blair Witch-Hunt.
To bridge the gap and anticipate the return of “Gossip Girl” in March, The CW have released another Gossip Guide. Speak of the Week is lesson no. 22 which is Bass-talk. It discusses the language used by Chuck Bass and those addressed to him such as Basshole, Basstard and Mother-chucker. It links to lesson number 6 which is A Blair Witch-Hunt.
Speak of the Week is released regularly as a side dish to the main telecast of the show which is taking a five weeks break. It will return on March 16 with the episode “The Age of Dissonance” which sweep poster can be viewed below. Chuck is having trouble dealing with the mystery of who his father was and how he spent his spare time. Nate catches Vanessa flirting with another guy, and in a moment of desperation, reluctantly turns to Blair for help – which turns out not as he expected.

Ms. Carr chooses not to take her job back and spends most of her time in an empty apartment with her new fling. At the same time, Lily and Rufus question where their relationship is going and talk very casually about merging their households, Chuck Bass, however, is strongly against the idea, and does everything in his power to stop it.

‘Gossip Girl’ Speak of the Week: Blairnoid and Ment-Whore
Two new ‘Gossip Girl’ guides are released by The CW to give fans insight to the terms often used in the show.
Two new featurettes are released for “Gossip Girl“, dubbed Gossip Guide – “Speak of the Week”. The first one is called “Blairanoid”, the syndrome which is related to Blair’s attitude while the second one is called “Ment-Whore”, a twist to the word mentor aka Rachel. Lesson number #39 teaches about “the belief that everyone is jealous of your perfection and therefore, out to get you.” This leads to a side effect which is found in lesson number 14 “Dorot-Abuse”. Dorota is the faithful maid in the Waldorf family who often keeps up with Blair’s eccentricities and finds secrets within the family. Lesson number #56 is about the affair between a teacher and a student aka Rachel and Dan. Rachel is the new Shakespeare teacher who joins the show in the second season. Played by Laura Breckenridge, the character was mistaken to be a student when she first arrived at Constance Billard and jumped into trouble when she gave Blair a B. The new episode of “Gossip Girl” returns March 16.

When Serena’s grifter love interest is first introduced, he’s in a relationship with her socialite bud, Poppy Lifton! Source: The Ausiello Files
Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) is getting a new squeeze! And this one doesn’t share a half sibling with her. Hurrah! Sources reveal that Armie Hammer—who’s also set to play the Devil’s son, Morgan, on Reaper—will join the cast of Gossip Girl at the end of the season to play Serena’s new beau. The CW just confirmed this casting.
Want the details on his steamy little affair with Serena? Gabriel Serrano is a European socialite, who is not like any man Serena has dated before. Hammer will join the cast for three episodes toward the end of the season as a part of the Anne Hathaway-esque storyline. Gabriel will be dating Serena’s friend, Poppy Lifton (Tamara Feldman), before he moves on to her. I can already smell trouble with this guy, which is exactly why he’ll fit in just fine on the Upper East Side.
So what do you think of the new casting? How does he stack up with her previous squeezes? (Has to be better than Aaron Rose, right?) Sound off in the comments!E!Online
I still cannot believe that Nate and Blair are hooking up! What will happen with Vanessa?
Jessica Szohr tells us, “Obviously, Vanessa’s a little bit hurt because that’s her boyfriend, but what comes around goes around, so I’m sure Vanessa will be all right.” Looks like Queen B may be getting yet another lesson in karma. Will it humble her or cause her claws to retract? Of course not!
The tentative plan is to make [Rufus and Lily's son] a major character next season. Source: Kristin on E!Online
Remember when Nate was poor and huddling under a tartan sleeping bag trying to keep warm in the basement of his family’s seized Upper East Side townhouse on Gossip Girl? Well, don’t worry, he isn’t poor anymore because… well, something happened, I’m a little unclear actually. But maybe these two have something to do with it. TVGuide.com has learned exclusively that Aaron Tveit and Holley Fain have been cast as Nate’s very wealthy cousin Tripp Vanderbilt and his fiancée, Maureen, who is a girl and therefore does not need a last name of her own. The posh pair will appear in two upcoming episodes, in which Poor Little Match Boy Nate reconciles with his mother’s powerful family. Source: TV Guide Online
The CW’s Gossip Girl spin-off has completed its first piece of casting. Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls alum Krysten Ritter has been tapped to play Lily’s troubled older sister, Carol, in the offshoot, which chronicles the teen years of Kelly Rutherford’s alter ego. Described as sweet but a bit of a disaster, Carol is an actress who’s constantly making bad decisions in life and work. Lily ends up moving in with Carol after a falling out with mom and dad. Circa ’80s Lily and Carol will be introduced in the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl. Source: The Ausiello Files
Sources confirm that the show is planning a season-ending story line loosely inspired by [Anne Hathaway's] infamous (and fizzled) romance with Italian grifter Raffaello Follieri, who was convicted last October on 14 counts of wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy. In the world of Gossip Girl, Blake Lively’s Serena will play the unsuspecting ingenue who falls for a handsome European socialite — in this case a hunk named Gabriel (casting is under way). Though she won’t confirm or deny the story’s Hathaway-esque twists, executive producer Stephanie Savage reveals that Serena’s beau is “very well-traveled, part of the global elite. He’s not a brooding artist like Dan or Aaron Rose. He’s definitely a grown-up, and that’s something Serena is very attracted to.” Word is that GG‘s version of the story will take a turn that is so much darker than the Hathaway saga that it ultimately puts Serena’s life in danger. Moreover, it triggers the return of Michelle Trachtenberg’s Georgina Sparks and casts our heroine’s sworn frenemy in the unlikely role of savior. Source: The Ausiello Files
Gossip Girl‘s newest (old) hookup is Blair and Nate. [...] According to one insider, “Blair and Nate are both at a crossroads. Blair has to accept she isn’t going to Yale. Nate is being sucked into his family’s expectations, and they are both there for each other and enjoy the familiarity. At first it’s platonic, but, of course, that doesn’t last long.” [...] Serena’s insta-gal-pal Poppy Lifton is coming back to make her life even more difficult. I’m guessing another feature in Women’s Wear Daily is not on her to-do list this time around? And Rufus is going to run into some money problems soon.Source: Kristin on E!Online
It’s true. As we teased in last week’s Spoiler Chat, a core couple is reuniting on Gossip Girl. The just-released location photo above means that hot little kitty is debagged, and my sources confirm what your eyes are seeing: Gossip Girl’s newest (old) hookup is Blair (Leighton Meester) and Nate (Chace Crawford). What does this mean for the epic romance that is Blair and Chuck (Ed Westwick)? And why the frak are Nate and Blair back to nooky anyway? I’ve got the exclusive scoop… Sources say that unlike Blair and Chuck’s deep adversarial passion, the renewed Blair and Nate coupling is about familiarity and comfort. According to one insider, “Blair and Nate are both at a crossroads. Blair has to accept she isn’t going to Yale. Nate is being sucked into his family’s expectations, and they are both there for each other and enjoy the familiarity. At first it’s platonic, but, of course, that doesn’t last long.” Still, don’t worry, Bluck fans. Even though Nate and Blair are playing tonsil hockey for the time being, I have it on good authority that Blair and Chuck have not been forgotten. For that matter, Gossip Girl boss Josh Schwartz just told the Chicago Tribune’s wonderful Mo Ryan, “We get that that [relationship] works for people.”
So in the grand tradition of the Derena merry-go-round (“Dan Serena Dan Serena whoo!”), Chuck and Blair’s time will come around again. But can you stand the wait? Will you watch between now and then? Post in the comments! E!Online
