Grey’s Anatomy Episode 5.8 Recap: “These Ties That Bind”

Ellen Pompeo, Melissa George, Sandra OhTonight on Grey’s Anatomy, Cristina (Sandra Oh) is still bugging the hell out of Derek (Patrick Dempsey) by monopolizing Meredith’s time. She wakes them both up by hopping into bed with them, bearing the news that Hahn (Brooke Smith) is gone. She no longer works at Seattle Grace. Derek is peeved by the intrusion, but gets up to answer the door. The visitor is Sadie (guest star Melissa George), who is Meredith’s old friend from med school and who was her Cristina before Cristina was. She’s kind of a rebel, but we’ll get to that later. She took a break after med school to work in a morgue, but today is her first day as an intern at Seattle Grace. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Sadie call each other Death and Die, respectively, a story which Meredith is unwilling to share with Derek. (Cristina is all, “Her name’s not Death. It’s Mer.”) After Sadie bogarts Meredith, Cristina sulks in the kitchen with Derek about getting kicked out of bed. She also spends the entire rest of the episode being rude to Sadie. Aww, Cristina is jealous.

Elsewhere in the frat house, Izzie (Katherine Heigl) is still having a hard time letting go of Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) because he stubbornly won’t leave her alone, despite being, you know, dead. By the way, Izzie still has that brown sweater that she knit for him back when he was still alive. Alex notices that there is something on Izzie’s mind and actually shows compassion by offering to talk about it with her. He’s not even a jerk about it, either. I guess if Izzie has visions of Denny walking and talking even though he’s dead, then it’s not too much of a stretch to believe that Alex (Justin Chambers) can be nice….READ FULL RECAP AT BUDDY TV

Smallville Episode 8.9 Recap: “Abyss”

Allison Mack and Sam Witwer, SmallvillePreviously on Smallville: Chloe’s brain was hacked by Brainiac and Davis discovered he’s the super-strong alien son of General Zod.

Chloe’s super hacking brain gets a virus, and suddenly all her memories start turning scenes from The Matrix, only on a much lower budget. The people and places she remembers get deleted until she wakes up in the present and has no idea who Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore) is. I’m not sure if Chloe (Allison Mack) forgetting everyone and everything that’s ever been on Smallville is supposed to be good or bad. Surely there are a few sotrylines or characters we’d all like to forget.

If your fiancee couldn’t remember who you were, where is the first place you’d go? The hospital? The police? Jimmy heads straight to Clark (Tom Welling) for assistance. Chloe is equally stupid, going to the local hospital not as a patient, but posing as a med student looking for the library to study amnesia herself. Interestingly enough, she does recognize Davis (Sam Witwer)…..READ FULL RECAP AT BUDDY TV

Supernatural Episode 4.9 Recap: “I Know What You Did Last Summer”

Mark RolstonLast week’s episode of Supernatural ended with a surprising confession, as Dean admitted that he remembers everything that happened to him in Hell.  We still don’t know the details of what he went through, but we do know that some sort of unspeakable torment was on the menu.  “Wishful Thinking” gave Dean a chance to open up to his brother, and tonight’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” allowed Sam the same opportunity.  Every Supernatural fan has been dying to know what happened between Sam and Ruby while Dean was six feet under, and now we finally have some answers.  Warning: there’s sex involved!

After a recap that lasts longer than “Stairway to Heaven,” Supernatural starts off with a woman named Anna chatting with a shrink in a mental hospital.  Anna was trying to warn people that Lilith is cooking up an apocalypse with a tasty side dish of death and destruction, not realizing that such claims often get people tossed in the loony bin.  She knows about the plan with the 66 seals, but also reveals that there are about 600 seals in the world, with no way to know which one Lilith will go after next.  This makes the demon leader kind of unstoppable, and also gives me hope for some sort of awesome overseas adventure for the Winchesters.  Later that night, a demonic orderly comes into Anna’s room to do away with her, but she uses some fancy telekinesis to slam him against a wall and escape….READ FULL RECAP AT BUDDY TV

Ugly Betty Episode Recap: “Tornado Girl”

Short and not sweet: Before Daniel goes to a Meade Publications retreat with the other execs, Betty convinces him to let her give Final Approval to the latest Mode issue that’s themed “Fashion in the Eye of the Storm” in his absence. Once she hears about a devastating tornado decimating Kansas, she realizes that they can’t go to print because the cover featuring a fashion tornado would trivialize the tragedy in the heartland.

Betty naturally tries to get hold of Daniel or Wilhelmina, but they’ve surrendered all of their electronic equipment so they can be focused on the retreat to think of creative revenue-generating schemes. After a botched road trip with Marc and Amanda to reach the execs, Betty hires a plane to skywrite “Daniel Call Betty” in the sky over the retreat. Daniel dutifully contacts Betty and says he’ll stop the shipment … but then Wilhelmina convinces him otherwise.

You see, Wil has a hunch that the callousness of the cover would actually sell issues, and it does result in their highest sales ever. The downside, however, is that Betty has taken the fall since it somehow got out that she had final approval. Immediately she’s a pariah, with the media labeling her Tornado Girl. Daniel’s conscience is pricked, and during a press conference, he finally takes the blame for okaying the issue….Continue reading »

Gossip Girl Spoilers: Adoption Mystery Update, it’s Lily & Rufus’s Kid!

Seems it’s true the adoption I was referring to in the post, Major Gossip Girl Spoilers: A Gossip Girl Mystery? Who’s Adopted? is Lily and Rufus’s kid, and the man searching for the kid is probably Rufus, or maybe the private PI Bart hired to look into Lily’s past.

Here’s what Zap2It’s Korbi TV had to say about the story line: “Upper East Side Secret: You know how Lily Bass (nee Van der Woodsen) has been hiding something big? Well, I’m on to her and want to spill the dirt so badly. But instead I’ll just say this: Seems Gossip Girl will be recycling a current 90210 storyline early next year… a storyline which involves a lover from Lily’s past whom we know pretty freakin’ well.”

New Supernatural Spoilers & Scoop!

“Sam and Dean end up on the trail of this girl named Anna [Julie McNiven] who, for reasons I won’t reveal, is able to psychically hear angel conversations,” Kripke said. “‘She is able to [tune] in to angel radio,’ is what we say. That makes her a very wanted and valuable person to the demons who would love to get some intel on what the other side is doing, as well as the angels who don’t like that they have such a big security leak.” Kripke added: “So they’re trying to elude not just demons, but angels. The angels and demons are fighting each other, and it’s a really fun milieu of putting the boys right in the middle of this massive eternal battle,” Kripke said with a laugh. “How to get out of that alive becomes quite the challenge, because both sides are so, so powerful and dead set on retrieving this girl.” In addition to chasing the girl, Sam also confesses to Dean what he was doing the summer Dean was trapped in hell and what his relationship with Ruby really is. In Episode 4.10: Hell’s Angels, airing on November 20, 2008, Castiel (guest star Misha Collins) and Uriel (guest star Robert Wisdom) are on a mission from God. “We bring to a head the fact that they’ve got these two different factions on their ass, and how do they get out with their lives?” Kripke said. Also, “we finally do reveal exactly what happened to Dean in hell.” — Source: Sci Fi Wire

Supernatural Angels Want Mad Men‘s Hildy Dead

by Matt Mitovich, TV Guide

This week on the CW’s Supernatural (Thursdays at 9 pm/ET), a religious young woman named Anna is wanted dead by the angels, yet wanted alive by the demons of hell. Say what?! Guest-star Julie McNiven — whom you might recognize as Pete’s gal Friday, Hildy, on Mad Men — shares a look at how her mild-mannered character gets caught in the middle of a most unholy war.

TVGuide.com: Anna can hear the voices of angels. How is it that Sam and Dean learn of her existence?
Julie McNiven:
Ruby finds out about me — I don’t know if she reveals her source — and then tells Sam and Dean about this girl who can hear angels’ conversations. I’m locked up in a mental institution because, obviously, people think I’m insane.

TVGuide.com: How does Anna know that it’s angels she’s hearing?
McNiven:
Because their conversations are all about the war that’s brewing between Heaven and Hell, between the angel soldiers and the demon soldiers. When she hears about how Lucifer will bring the apocalypse … Well, that attracts the boys’ interest.

TVGuide.com: It also draws the interest of a demon named Alistair.
McNiven:
Yeah, and he’s a big-time demon with greater powers than Ruby has.

TVGuide.com: He wants to take you to Hell for an “interrogation”….
McNiven:
Where they can torture me as much as they need to because I’m human. It’s a scary thing having the angels want me dead and the demons wanting me alive. Either way, I’m kind of screwed!

TVGuide.com: Do angels Castiel and Uriel make their intentions clear, or is their agenda sort of sprung on Anna?
McNiven:
In my first episode [of two], they just come out and say it. That’s when you realize I’m stuck in the middle of a horrible situation. Of course, Sam and Dean are then stuck in the middle, too, so they try to find us a way out of it.

TVGuide.com: Does one of the brothers take a greater interest in Anna than the other? Because Dean is perhaps the more romantically available one….
McNiven:
[Laughs] Sam actually is very protective of Anna, more than Dean I think, so every time there is some sort of fight, I get thrown in a closet or the room next door. Meanwhile, I, Julie, am like, “I want to fight!”

TVGuide.com: There’s a spoiler out there that one of the brothers gets shirtless soon, and for the purpose of getting busy. But I’m gathering here that it’s not for Anna’s benefit.
McNiven:
Yeah, well… You’ll just have to watch!

TVGuide.com: This is where I usually invite the guest-star to confirm what fine men Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are.
McNiven:
Absolutely – both complete gentlemen! I had such fun working with them, and with Genevieve [Cortese, Ruby], too. The boys were hilarious.  They can go from joking around to right in a scene, but I get the giggles, so I literally had to bite my cheek and tongue to focus.

TVGuide.com: Was Genevieve happy to have another gal on the set?
McNiven:
She was really excited, and we got along well. We’re a lot alike in our personal lives, so I found a good friend in her.

TVGuide.com: I take it that Supernatural offered you a “slightly” different experience than secretarying at Sterling Cooper?
McNiven:
[Laughs] Uh, yeah. Definitely. It was nice because for me as an actress still at an early stage in her career, I felt like I could really bite into this role. I was given an arc with a beginning, middle and an end.

TVGuide.com: Plus, you got out of those stuffy 1960s Mad Men clothes.
McNiven:
No, I actually love wearing those! Give me a girdle and I’m happy.
