Grey’s Anatomy – Season 6 Official Description

Seems like the doctors of Seattle Grace Hospital are always fighting for something, from access to cutting-edge surgeries to relationships to patients’ lives. And they don’t always win.

After a long, hard struggle, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) may have finally won the battle for each other’s hearts, sealing their love with vows written on, of all things, a blue post-it note.

One battle the staff of Seattle Grace may be losing is saving the lives of two of their own, Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and George O’Malley (T.R. Knight). And Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Izzie’s new husband, is left holding his breath until next season’s premiere along with the rest of us.

Tough-loving Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) is fighting her own battles. She faces the very real possibility of losing her husband over her extreme dedication to her career.

Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) is fighting her relationship fears while her on-again-off-again boyfriend Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) fights the emotional scars that he brought home from Iraq.

Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) is fighting for her family’s respect and support as her new relationship with Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) blossoms into the healthy romance she needs.

Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) is trying to overcome his past life as a lothario and become a better man—with or without the help of Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh). Perhaps Lexie is too young for him after all.

And Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.), The Chief, is fighting to keep his hospital together and to find some way to forgive himself for his past mistakes.

Grey’s Anatomy can be as complicated as any neurosurgery, with episodes that will make you laugh out loud, cry your eyes out and cheer its victories—whether they involve saving a patient’s life or sealing that kiss we’ve all been hungering to witness.

Grey’s Anatomy – Fall preview

Where we left off: Derek and Meredith wrote marriage vows, Izzie’s cancer nearly bested her and George flatlined.

Bye, George: Did you hear? George doesn’t make it. “It’s going to be sad and painful,” executive producer Krista Vernoff tells Us.

Love fills the void: Cristina and Owen forge ahead (“The relationship is less fragile,” McKidd says); Mark and Lexie are “freaking adorable,” says Vernoff; and MerDer cohabit blissfully, though Pompeo’s October due date will necessitate a unique plot. And Izzie? Her health is better; her union to Alex not so much. Marrying under duress, says Vernoff, creates “a complicated dynamic.”

Small blurb on the pic says: All six couples likely won’t make it to the end of the season intact, says Vernoff.

Grey’s Anatomy – James Pickens, Jr. Dishes on Season 6

The first three episodes of Grey’s Anatomy’s sixth season have officially been shot, and original cast member James Pickens, Jr., says he is pleased with what looks to be an interesting season coming up for his character, Dr. Richard Webber (a.k.a. the Chief).

“He has to do a lot of soul-searching to do and has to make some decisions that might change the direction of hospital and/or his life,” the actor told TV Guide. “It is going to have the interns and residents on pins and needles, because they don’t know where their careers are going to go from here.”

“When we left off last season, the hospital was struggling. It had lost its good rating, and [the Chief] spent a good part of the season trying to woo new doctors, getting fancy new machines, and accepting headline-grabbing surgeries,” adds Pickens. “Seattle Grace hospital is his baby, and we know that he’ll do whatever to get that rating back up. Some of his methods will be conventional and some not so conventional. We will see that continue to play out over the course of this season.”

Like everyone else on staff, James Pickens, Jr., echoed previous statements when he explained that the Chief will be greatly affected by George O’Malley’s passing. “The atmosphere has been a little heavy, somber, because they lost one of their own,” Pickens said. “His death affects each member of the staff differently. Everyone feels responsible in some way. In typical Chief style, he will try to hold the place together and keep a stiff upper lip, but it affects him quite deeply.”

Grey’s Anatomy – Premiere Details

After watching the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy (the first hour at least), I can confirm what virtually everyone in the cast had been telling – or warning – us: it’s going to be a very dark season. And why not, George (T.R. Knight) is gone, and while creator Shonda Rhimes appeared like she did everything in her power to ease up the viewers to a George-less Grey’s Anatomy, it just wouldn’t work. Because while there are fans who may not have liked George, in Seattle Grace, everybody liked him. Just how loved George was will be made clear on how people will react to his death.

But let’s not spill too much, shall we?

Some details. There will be: a severed arm, a harrowingly short and strange funeral scene (you’ll know what I mean with the strange part after watching it, trust me), an appearance by George’s mom, talk about George’s man-part, and people reacting in strange, strange ways to his death. While there were those who did the requisite crying and staring into space, Grey’s Anatomy fans should watch out for the more pronounced reactions, including one or two life-changing ones. In short, the episode will be all about George, and rightly so.

Meanwhile, the person who is probably the least affected with George’s passing gets her own storyline. Arizona (newly regularized Jessica Capshaw) will try to do her job while virtually everyone around her is still reeling from what happened. As seen on one of the promos, there is also the matter of the Chief (James Pickens, Jr.) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in talks over the whole taking over the chief of surgery position – but maybe “in talks” is too soft a term.

On a final note, to me, the talk between George’s mom and one of the surgeons proved to be one of the more heart-breaking scenes in an episode that in itself is heartbreaking enough. But don’t take my word for it. Catch Grey’s Anatomy when it returns on September 24 on ABC.

Grey’s Anatomy – Exclusive Look at George O’Malley’s Funeral

George O’Malley’s funeral on the heartbreaking Grey’s Anatomy two-hour season opener on September 24 will reverberate through the halls of Seattle Grace long after the dead doc’s casket is closed. Nearly everyone will be present—including a frail Izzie in a headscarf—to mourn George’s passing at a graveside service attended by George’s mom (but not by his ex, Callie). A show source tells me that Meredith will deal with the death in a “very Meredith-like” way. “The doctors are processing this huge moment of grief,” says Jessica Capshaw, whose Dr. Arizona Robbins will be holding down the fort and attending to patients. “My character previously lost her brother, so I’ll be helping Callie process this horrible loss.”

Likewise, Dr. Owen Hunt will be assisting Cristina through her mourning process. “Owen is so used to losing colleagues that he’ll become a rock for others to help them deal with it,” says Kevin McKidd about his Iraq-vet character. “Cristina is in denial about it, and he’s there for her at that moment when she actually realizes what has happened.”

Cristina is also expected to finally open up to Owen about her baggage with her ex, Burke, who left her at the altar in 2007. And later on in the upcoming season, a hospital vacancy will be filled by someone who shares a past with Owen. That, Kevin promises, will “shake things up.”

Grey’s Anatomy – 6×05 – Callie & Arizona

The romance between ‘Grey’s Anatomy”s Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw, now a series regular) will have to endure some not-so-divine intervention when Dr. Torres’ father returns to Seattle — with a “heavenly helper” in tow.

Emmy Award winner Hector Elizondo will reprise his role as Mr. Torres in the fifth episode of the coming season, AOL TV has learned exclusively. Bringing about Dad’s latest drop-by? His desire to make amends with the daughter he disowned last spring when he learned that she had taken a female lover.

Though Callie and her father exchanged harsh words and parted ways back then — forcing Callie to cede her status as a Trust Fund Baby — Mr. Torres is now determined to heal the rift. So he’s enlisted a bit of help from “above” … yep, he believes the work of a priest can right past wrongs.

Can Callie and Arizona withstand the meddling of a father and a Father? Heaven help us all.

Grey’s Anatomy – Nora Zehetner and Robert Baker joining the cast

It’s a prescription for professional rivalry when Grey’s Anatomy introduces a trio of new doctors during its sixth season.

Nora Zehetner and Robert Baker have been cast as two of the recurring residents surfacing in Episode 5, TVGuideMagazine.com has learned exclusively. Zehetner (familiar to TV fans from her runs on Heroes and Everwood) will play a doc described by a source as “feisty, very smart and competitive.” As such, she is poised to butt heads with at least one member of Meredith Grey’s posse. Baker, from The CW’s short-lived Valentine, has been cast as the seemingly nicest of the new residents, who may be hiding a nastier side.

The casting of these recurring players comes as Grey’s prepares to bid adieu to T.R. Knight’s George (in the two-hour season opener) and accomodate Ellen Pompeo’s maternity leave. But the precise why of the docs’ arrival is the big mystery here—and one that series boss Shonda Rhimes isn’t willing to reveal.

Grey’s Anatomy – Jesse Williams has been cast

Jesse Williams has been cast in a multiepisode arc on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Details about the character are under wraps, but it is understood that he is a sexy, confident new medical professional.

We now all know that Izzie will live, and George dies.

Grey’s Anatomy – Katherine Heigl takes leave of absence

Katherine Heigl won’t have to worry about putting in long hours on the Grey’s Anatomy set for much longer. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the actress is taking a five-episode hiatus from the ABC drama to go shoot the Greg Berlanti-directed romantic comedy Life as We Know It.

ABC and Grey’s producers have accommodated Heigl’s busy film schedule before, but this is the first time they have given her permission to leave the show for an extended period of time. I’m told Heigl’s absence will be explained on screen, although it’s not clear what prompts Izzie to take off. (Marital trouble with Alex? A trip home to see mom? A Denny sighting in the Caribbean?)

The fact that Heigl was granted such a lengthy leave of absence is surprising in light of the public tongue-lashing ABC president Stephen McPherson gave her last month for complaining about a 17-hour work day. Also, Heigl’s departure — which starts this month and will kick in on screen around November — will almost certainly overlap with co-star Ellen Pompeo’s maternity leave. Translation: Grey’s will be without Izzie and Meredith at the same time!

Of course, Grey’s boss Shonda Rhimes warned me over the summer that change would be in the air this season. ”Eventually, everybody is going to leave the show,” admitted the exec, citing T.R. Knight’s exit and the temporary loss of Pompeo. ”So we’re looking at [ways] we can mess with the structure now…. Season 6 is about finding the longevity of the show and figuring out if there is a future for this show beyond these characters.”

Not so coincidentally, Grey’s recently announced it was adding three new doctors to its rotation: Nora Zehetner, Robert Baker, and Jesse Williams are joining the cast as recurring residents/ medical professionals.

Thoughts? Worried you won’t recognize Seattle Grace this season without George, Mer, and Izzie? Or are you psyched that this probably means more screen time for your other favorites? Sound off below!

Remember the haunting image of an army-clad George waiting outside the elevator for Izzie in the season finale? Well, it wasn’t supposed to be George standing there. The scene was originally shot with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Denny playing the role of Izzie’s heavenly escort. But as Grey’s boss Shonda Rhimes explains to me exclusively, “I received the first cut [of the finale] on a Friday and something didn’t feel right. All weekend long something was bugging me. And then I woke up Monday morning and it hit me, ‘My God, it’s George! When the elevator opens, it should be George we see.'” There was just one problem. Actually, there were two problems. And to find out what they were and how they got resolved (apologies in advance) pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on sale Friday!… One of the two problems involved Katherine Heigl’s location at the time of Shonda’s epiphany. That’s all you’re getting. You have to pick up the mag for the rest…. The other problem involved what T.R. Knight did to his head after production wrapped. Now I’m really done.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ exclusive: The George story you’ll never see

Source: The Ausiello Files

Tr-knight-greys_lcommon knowledge that T.R. Knight declined Grey’s Anatomy boss Shonda Rhimes’ request to briefly return in season 6 to give his It’s now terminal George some closure. says in this week’s Entertainment Weekly cover story. “[He’d] emotionally walked “I kind of get it,” the series’ creator away.” Fans, however, may not be quite as chill when they hear the killer story she had planned for him. In this fall’s season premiere, George will succumb to the injuries he sustained after getting mowed down by that bus in last May’s finale. But that wasn’t supposed to be the last we saw of him. Says Rhimes, the episode was then going to flash back to the hours during which George was missing, from when he left the hospital to when he returned later on as a disfigured John Doe. “I wanted to see his last day [alive] really badly,” she says. “What I thought was interesting was the idea of, we now know it’s the last day of someone’s life, [so wedifferently than [we] would any other time.” Viewers would have also seen firsthand how George’s split-second decision to save that girl’s life ’re] looking at it cost him his own. “I wanted to see the moment he leapt in front of the bus,” Rhimes confirms. “I wanted to bookend the episode [so that] the first time you see him leap in front of the bus, it’s really scary. But the second time you see it, he’s a hero. “I thought it would have been a beautiful episode,” she continues, adding that, had we seen those missing hours, “We might have learned something new about George.” Although disappointed she wasn’t able to tell that story, Rhimes insists she’s content with how George’s five-year arc concluded. “We really got to see him grow up,” she says. “It really does feel like we watched a full evolution of a character, and I feel good about that.” Still, I would’ve loved to have seen those flashbacks. What about you? Do you wish Knight had stuck around a little longer to give us George’s last day? Or do you agree with him that the final shot of his character standing outside the elevator was “the best way to leave it”?

Katherine Heigl Ponders Her Grey’s Fate

Dr. Izzie Stevens could be in a coma or even dead when Grey’s Anatomy resolves its Season 5 cliffhanger on Sept. 24, says Katherine Heigl. “You last saw Izzie flat-lining, so… I’m either there as a ghost ‘on the other side,’ or I survived a disease [stage IV metastatic melanoma] no one survives,” Heigl said during a Monday visit to Late Show with David Letterman.

When Letterman asked how she could be pulling 17-hour workdays — as Heigl had shared earlier in the sit-down — if Izzie isn’t alive and kicking, she countered, “What if I was in bed in a coma? They could do that.” Heigl shared that it was “a little weird” reporting to the Grey’s set last week without pal T.R. Knight around. (Last month, the actor, who played George O’Malley on the show, negotiated an early release from his contract with the ABC drama.) When asked for how much longer she will stick with Grey’s, Heigl said with a trace of sarcasm, “That’s what I keep wondering.”

Heigl, who is contractually bound to Grey’s for another two seasons, said that while she hopes the show enjoys the longevity of, say, ER, which ran 15 years, she’d like to continue playing Izzie “maybe not quite that long.”Heigl stars opposite Gerard Butler (300) in the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth, in theaters July 24

More Info on T.R. Knight’s Exit

Fans were shocked when T.R. Knight made the surprising decision to leave Grey’s Anatomy, the hit medical drama that launched him to fame. This week, in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor reveals what led him to his decision, and he also candidly discusses “Isaiahgate,” coming out of the closet, and leaving his friends at Seattle Grace.

This fall, Knight was surprised to see his character George O’Malley all but vanish from the show — for the first nine episodes of season 5, he appeared on screen a total of only 48 minutes, compared to 114 for Sandra Oh’s Christina. Still, due to what he calls a gradual “breakdown of communication” between himself and exec producer Shonda Rhimes, the actor chose not to ask his boss what was going on with his character. Instead, he simply asked to leave. “My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George],” he explains. “And with respect, I’m going to leave it at that.”

Though he was unknown when Grey’s premiered, Knight soon emerged as one of the breakout stars (and even earned a supporting actor Emmy nod in 2007), but it was what came to be known as “Isaiahgate” that would catapult him to household-name status. After Isaiah Washington referred to Knight as a “f—-t” during an on-set argument with co-star Patrick Dempsey, the tabloids caught wind of it, Knight came out in the press, and Washington was fired. While Knight doesn’t specifically fault Rhimes for how the situation was handled behind the scenes, he says the exec producer was among those who tried to discourage him from coming out: “I think she was concerned about having my statement come out so close to the [initial] event.” Rhimes denies this: “I said, ‘If you want to come out, that’s awesome.'”

Knight returned to work on season 4, but the actor struggled with the story line in which George cheated on his wife Callie (Sara Ramirez) with Izzie (Katherine Heigl). And once George went MIA from the beginning of season 5, the star came to the conclusion that his character had “expired.” Today, Knight is at peace with his choice toleave: “There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision,” he says. But at first, his castmate and friend Heigl tried to talk him out of it. “I didn’t think it was the right decision,” she says. “I felt like some of the problems could be worked through. But by the time it came to fruition, I was [glad] for him because he was ready to go.”

Knight knows he’s taking a risk walking away from his top 10 show and $14 million contract. “From an outsider’s perspective, I get the [impression that] ‘He’s just a spoiled actor…he doesn’t know how good he has it,'” he says. “There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work.”

For more on TR Knight — including how he felt when George was back-burnered, what he really thought of the “Gizzie” story line, and where you can see him next– plus what’s in store for the other docs on Grey’s Anatomy, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly on stands Friday July 24.

Grey’s Exclusive: Mitch Pileggi Returns for Season Premiere

Source: TV Guide Online

Grey’s Anatomy has prescribed an encore for X-Files alum Mitch Pileggi. Pileggi, who first guest-starred on the ABC drama toward the end of Season 3, will return for the two-hour Season 6 premiere, again playing hospital board chairman Larry Jennings, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Check out photos from Grey’s Anatomy When Pileggi first appeared as Jennings, the Seattle Grace bigwig required medical attention after a trip to the Amazon left him with a carnivorous fish lodged in an unfortunate part of the anatomy. For his encore, Pileggi’s hospital mucky-muck will have official business to tend to. It perhaps relates to not one but two staff doctors, Izzie Stevens and George O’Malley, looking the Grim Reaper in the eye. Check out more of last season’s cliff-hangers
Grey’s Anatomy‘s season premiere airs Thursday, Sept. 24, at 9 pm/ET.

Has Grey’s Anatomy figured out how they’re going to work around Ellen Pompeo‘s maternity leave yet? Erm. Grey’s is such a hairy show to report on. We’ll tell you this, and maybe you’ll forgive us for taking the long way around. A source tells us that ABC didn’t want Rachel Griffiths (who gave birth to her third child on June 21) to skip any episodes of Brothers & Sisters and that production was pushed back a week to accommodate her maternity leave. What does that mean for Grey’s? Well, if ABC doesn’t want a Griffiths-less B&S, you could assume (just assume) that they really wouldn’t want a Pompeo-less Grey’s Anatomy. Pompeo’s due this fall though, so there would be no real way to push back production. Solution? Well, we’re just spit-balling ideas here, because no one’s confirming anything, but you could do what our source tells us is a possible scenario for dealing with Ellen Pompeo’s maternity leave: When E.P. gets back from her baby break, shoot a bunch of Meredith Grey scenes in succession, and then have your editors work overtime to slot her scenes into the episodes that were shot/produced before her return, therefore giving the audience the full Meredith Grey experience with no gaps. Sources confirm that Chandra Wilson will be directing an episode of Grey’s Anatomy this season, although we’ve actually heard that another actor was negotiating to direct an episode of Grey’s Anatomy this season, as well as make a couple of other tweaks to his/her contract to allow him/her more creative and personal freedom. Color me shocked that Katherine Heigl isn’t leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Is it possible we’re being duped in some way? MATT: I must say that the lack of fanfare surrounding ABC’s confirmation of Heigl’s status — especially when juxtaposed with the flurry of official statements regarding T.R. Knight’s departure — made me raise one of my overgrown eyebrows. “Sure, she’s staying… for just one more episode,” I cynically hypothesized. But one of my best sources insists that this is not a case of clever semantics, and that Heigl’s Izzie will have a significant presence in the fall. Source: TV Guide Online

ABC Makes It Official: Heigl Is Staying on Grey’s

Source: TV Guide Online

Katherine Heigl will return to Grey’s Anatomy for Season 6, according to a statement from ABC. The news comes just hours after T.R. Knight’s Grey’s Anatomy exit was finally confirmed — by both the actor and series creator Shonda Rhimes. ABC declined TVGuide.com’s request for further comment from Rhimes (who did issue a statement on Friday regarding Knight’s departure). Similarly, Heigl’s rep said no statement was forthcoming from the actress. The announcement ends months of speculation over Heigl’s future with the show. In June 2008, she made statements about her Emmy worthiness that appeared to cast aspersion on the Grey’s Anatomy writing staff. Not long after that controversy, there were reports that Rhimes would exact a sort of “payback” by killing off Izzie Stevens, Heigl’s character. Seemingly confirming such speculation, Izzie was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic brain cancer and appeared to flat-line in the season-finale episode. In other Grey’s news, ABC also officially announced that Jessica Capshaw, whose Dr. Arizona Robbins has been a breath of fresh air in the often angsty halls of Seattle Grace, will continue with the show — now as a series regular.

Katherine Heigl Signs Contract for Grey’s Anatomy Season Six

The cast lineup for season six of Grey’s Anatomy is becoming clearer by the day. Following on Marc Malkin’s report last month that star T.R. Knight is leaving the series, a source confirms that Katherine Heigl “will be back.” But what’s the official word from the show bosses and Heigl’s people? Reps for the hit ABC series and for Katherine Heigl both declined to comment. Source: EOnline

T.R. Knight Statement on leaving Grey’s Anatomy

“Leaving Grey’s Anatomy was not an easy decision for me to make. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much. I continue to wish them the very best, and wholeheartedly thank all of the fans who have supported me and the show with such passion and enthusiasm.”

Series creator Shonda Rhimes just followed with her own statement: “I think I speak for the entire Grey’s Anatomy family when I say we wish T.R. Knight the best in his future endeavors. He is an incredibly talented actor and a person whose strength of character is admired by all of us.”

It’s official: T.R. Knight exits ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Greys-anatomy-tr-knight_l Fall’s still months away, but one of last season’s bigger Grey’s Anatomy cliffhangers has already been resolved: Sources confirm to me exclusively that T.R. Knight’s wish to be released from his contract has been granted. The official decision, I’m told, came down in the past few days, just as many of his castmates began receiving their formal pickup letters from ABC.

What does this news mean for George? What will Knight do next? And what about Izzie? Find out after the jump…

The actor’s exit closes yet another rocky chapter for the embattled primetime soap, one that opened with Isaiahgate and worsened when, amid rumors that Knight was clashing with series creator Shonda Rhimes, George O’Malley was backburnered. Finally, Knight grew so fed up with his character’s lack of storyline that he asked if he could check out three years before his deal expired. After that, all indications were that he would be let go, although Rhimes didn’t make a final decision until recently. (Contractually speaking, she had until June 30 to make up her mind.)

Last month, Rhimes told me that George’s relatively light storyline this year was the result of the normal “ebbs and flows” of ensemble television. But she did acknowledge that he was intentionally written lighter during the last half of the season so that viewers wouldn’t think it odd that he was absent from the season finale — something that was necessary to preserve the episode’s biggest twist: that George was actually a disfigured John Doe who had been hit by a bus. “I really wanted you to not notice that he wasn’t there for most of this episode,” she said. “I don’t think anybody noticed because of the way we laid it out this season.”

Knight’s departure would seem to confirm that George doesn’t survive, although fans have wondered whether Rhimes is planning to pull an Elizabeth Reaser (Jane Doe/Rebecca) and have him live, only to be replaced by another actor, thanks to plastic surgeon Sloane’s handiwork. That’s “hilarious, ridiculous,” the boss has said. However, I’ve heard that she was interested in having Knight appear in next season’s first three episodes, but a short-term deal could not be brokered.

What will Knight do now? Per an insider, the theatrically-trained thesp is in talks to start 2010 by headlining a Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor, the classic farce he recently did a reading of with Alfred Molina, Tony Shalhoub, and Marian Seldes.

Reps for Knight and ABC declined to comment.

Now that the question of George’s future seems to have been answered, another puzzler moves to the forefront: What’s going to happen to Katherine Heigl’s Izzie, whose life also hung in the balance in last May’s capper? Stay tuned… In the meantime, proceed to the comments and weigh in on Knight’s departure.

Exclusive: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ promotes Jessica Capshaw

Jessica-Capshaw-Greys-Anatomy_l Finally, some good news for poor, lovelorn Callie: Grey’s Anatomy has officially promoted her on-screen leading lady, Jessica Capshaw, to a full-fledged series regular, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The news hardly comes as a surprise. Last month, series creator Shonda Rhimes all but signed off on Capshaw’s promotion when I interviewed her after the finale. “I love Jessica Capshaw,” she gushed. “And when I say love I mean love. She couldn’t be a more wonderful person, and I feel like the chemistry Arizona and Callie have feels like the Meredith and Derek chemistry to me. I find them delightful to watch.”

The ex-Practice star joined Grey’s last February as a recurring love interest for Sara Ramirez’s Callie. Her arrival came on the heels of the controversial dismissal of Brooke Smith as Callie’s girlfriend Dr. Hahn.

What do you think? Happy Capshaw is sticking around? Are you as high on Callizona as Rhimes is? Or are you still holding out hope that Dr. Hahn will one day escape from Seattle Grace’s parking lot? Sound off below!

What will happen on Grey’s Anatomy next season? Are George and Izzie goners? E! Online’s own Marc Malkin has an inside source who says that T.R. Knight is leaving Grey’s Anatomy due to issues with executive producer Shonda Rhimes. Sources tell TVGuide.com, “That story is utterly false. Nothing at all has changed in T.R.’s status.” Rhimes has also gone on record debunking new rumors that an entirely different actor would play George thanks to plastic surgery. However, we all know Shonda toed the lines of truth last season and likes to keep the audience guessing. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Chandra Wilson waiting to re-sign her contract

Although most Grey’s Anatomy fans are anxiously awaiting the fates of T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl next season, one cast member is nervous about her own. Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Bailey on the hit ABC show, is still waiting to re-sign her contract to come back next season. “You know, I don’t have the slightest idea!” she said on The View Thursday when asked if she knew who was leaving the show. “I know nothing!” In fact, she lamented that she still hasn’t received word on whether she’ll be back on the show. “I’m waiting for my Disney letter saying, ‘You have the option to come back,'” she said. The company has until June 20 to send it, she added. After speculation that Heigl’s character would be killed off in the season finale of Grey’s, her and Knight’s characters appeared to have died. Still, show creator Shonda Rhimes hasn’t divulged any information on next season’s cast or story lines. Source: Us Magazine

Jessica Capshaw talks about Meredith, George and Izzie

Jessica Capshaw — who stars as Dr. Arizona Robbins in the hit ABC series — doesn’t know if Ellen Pompeo pregnancy will be written into next season’s show, and she’s equally unaware if T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl will return (The two appeared to have died in the season finale).

“No one knows!” Capshaw, the daughter of Kate Capshaw and stepdaughter of Steven Spielberg says.

She adds: “[Show creator Shonda Rhimes] is keeping it under wraps, and I think the best thing about that is she is the guardian of the gate. It’s better that way. She doesn’t even run the risk of it coming out because nobody knows.”

Latest Grey’s Rumors Ripped as “Ridiculous,” “False” and “B.S.”

Source: TV Guide Online

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is nipping in the bud talk that the role of George — who last was seen barely alive after being mauled, mangled and mashed in a bus accident — will be recast with a new actor. “A hilarious, ridiculous rumor” is how Rhimes, via Twitter, qualified the speculation. Getting someone new to play a surgically made-over George would conveniently pave the way for T.R. Knight to vacate the role and exit the ABC serial, as has been rumored for many, many months. The increasingly dusty buzz has been that Knight’s disenchantment with his Season 5 storylines begat his conspicuously decreased screen time… which, in turn, is said to have disenchanted Knight even further.

Now, E! Online is reporting that Knight just this week negotiated his departure from Grey’s — a neat trick, seeing as he’s still on contract through Season 6, if needed. “That story is utterly false,” one well-placed source tells TVGuide.com. “Nothing at all has changed in T.R.’s status.” A second industry insider deems the aforementioned blog posting as “total B.S.” Rhimes herself recently told EW.com, “There have been lots of rumors about T.R., but T.R.’s never said anything. Take from it what you will.”

ABC entertainment boss Stephen McPherson also has weighed in on the uncertain future of Knight’s character, as well as Katherine Heigl’s ailing Izzie. “They’ve both signed on [for next season],” he told reporters at ABC’s upfront. “I can’t say whether or not they’ll both be there.” Reps for ABC and Knight declined to comment for this story.

Katherine Heigel and T.R Knight are going to be leaving the show. Katherine Heigel made it very clear prior to the season finale of season 5 that she was leaving and T.R Knight decided right before contract re-negotiiation. It’s very sad but very true I will miss them both… Sniff Sniff

bailey is a great actress, she’s strong and when she cries i cry cuz she play her part so well. izzie sometimes gets on my nerves but i want her in the show and george aswell, alex is from begining sooo annoying and i won’t mind to kick his ass out. desperate housewives and gray’s anatomy = best serials ever

i love this show and the truth is i wouldn’t mind if Izzie died because then at least she will be with who she was meant to be with all along, Denny.

Also i liked Alex alot more when he was single on the show and a womanizer so that would be fixed with Izzie’s death as well..

Lastly i just want to say screw you T. R. Knight! George was my favorite character and i will never be able to enjoy this show as much without you on it. you were quoted as saying “From an outsider’s perspective, I get the [impression that] ‘He’s just a spoiled actor…he doesn’t know how good he has it”, which is probably exactly right.

If this is all true and you don’t stay then i hope your career goes straight in the crapper.

I just finished watching Season 5 on DVD and I’m just in awe over the whole thing! How will the show go on without Georgie…Poor, sweet thoughtful Georgie…who’s going to be replacing that character’s personality?? Christina??? I don’t like that’s she’s gone soft now….it’s wierd…
As for Izzy…How sad…I really loved her as an actress…she’s really talented…but reality is, someone with that kind of cancer wouldn’t survive that…especially with Stage 4….Meredith leaving for while because of Maternity leave…geeze, seems like the show is going down the tubes…they better make it a good season to make up for all the losses of characters! Can’t wait till Thursday!

     /  September 24, 2009

The first few seasons of were amazing and I agree they seem to be going down, the writers have ruined these potential story lines by diminishing George’s character on the show, and that actor is so great you can’t replace him by putting a new actor in with a different face. They better come up with something to keep people hooked

I really miss Georgie..and i hope that izzi stays if not im not gonna watch this tv series again without bailey jeorge izzie and MEr gery’s will be not greys.
I really love this tv series but i really suggest that it ‘s better to stop it than changing all the doctors.
i think every tv series has its best time and they shouldn’t ruin it !
if u go back and watch the first 4 seasons u see how much this tv series was rich and meaningfull and real but by killing jeorge and other things i think this tv series may loose its fans!
    hope thy do the best

  20. Whats a show without Bailey?????????Guys, get serious..George should stay as Omalley and not have Mark steamy change him into one of those ‘does he sculptures………….Bucke left, I was heart broken to tears……….Baileys is all I have left………………Izzy can stay or go………no difference….she complicates everyone’s life and never knows what she wants.

I wish Mark steamy would hook up with Christina…It would be attitude vs steam…………………

Meredith should keep in the show…she is married now………..the baby could play Mark dreamy’s baby………………..

  21. Katie

     /  December 30, 2009

Okay, I haven’t really kept up with the show but here is what I think:
I think that George dying is okay, no offense, but if izzie leaves and breaks her marriage with Alex I will probably stop watching because she is my favorite character. To be quite honest, the mereger or whatever is the thing that I don’t like because it ruined everything. Also, bailey brings the life to the hospital sooo…. That’s what I think. I also hope that this show gets its *spark* again because with all the new characters it isn’t as great.

I hate the fact the george is leaving. I loved his character. I couldn’t see any one else playing george other than T.R. Knight, so i can understand why george is gone. I just wish he didn’t have to go like that. It was so upsetting to watch. I really wish he just would’ve went into the army. I was sad when i saw him sign up but atleast sweet and compassionate george was still alive. He was a hero before he died…so him saving a girls life with his own life was too heartbreaking. He saved lives every day…he was already a hero. I will definitely miss George. He was my favorite.
