New Promo of 'House M.D.' Season 6See larger image One of the first promos of FOX’s “” has been shared, bearing the tagline “What happens when the doctor becomes the patient?”. The sixth season of the medical drama will pick up where the season 5 finale left off, with House’s delusion coming to a serious level. Driven by Wilson, House voluntarily admits himself to Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital. In the promo, House is seen wandering, sleeping restlessly, and struggling while being escorted back to the building. Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda has been cast as House’s psych hospital roommate for at least two episodes. “House M.D.” is scheduled to return with new episodes on September 21. The show receives the nomination of Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series through and Best Drama Series at the upcoming 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Winners are announced on September 20 through a gala aired live on CBS.

House (Fox) James Earl Jones has signed on to guest star in an upcoming episode this fall. He will play an African dictator who becomes a patient at Princeton-Plainsboro.

Season Six Secrets

When we last saw Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), he was walking into a mental institution and wrapping his head around his hallucination of having sex with Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein).

Sure, we were mad at first for the big sex scene fake-out, but we were happy to learn at last night’s House event at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills that a true Huddy hookup might just be in store for season three, which starts shooting very soon and hits Fox on Sept. 21.

House executive producers Katie Jacobs and David Shore, along with Hugh, Lisa and Omar Epps filled us in on House’s mental state, Huddy’s romantic state and the state of things at Princeton-Plainsboro…

House Has Gone Crazy: “This season opener is really going to begin shortly after those doors close behind him. We’re going to wake up there and going to cover—storytelling wise in two hours—two to three months and that journey of rehabilitation that House feels he may or may not need, that he does need,” says Katie. “It’s not a full-on rehabilitation. House won’t be perfect in any way. I describe it as if there’s a hole in his heart, maybe he’ll leave with one more piece, but the House is still there.” Don’t expect the whole season to take place in the mental institute though: “It’s not going to be that much, but that two-hour premiere is basically exclusively there,” adds David.

Paging Dr. Nolan: Who has the lucky job of diagnosing one of the most famous diagnosticians in the world? That job is left up to Dr. Nolan, played by Andre Braugher, whom you may remember from Gideon’s Crossing. Katie describes the surely to butt heads pair: “House’s version of how well he needs to be to go back to work and Nolan’s version of how well he needs to be to go back to work is very different. You can check yourself in voluntarily, and you can leave voluntarily, but whether or not he’s going to be permitted to practice medicine is another story. Before he is going to be allowed to practice medicine, Dr. Nolan needs to make sure House is on much sturdier ground than at the end of the season.”

Hugh on Playing Crazy: Hop on the crazy boat, because we’re in for quite a storm. Says Hugh, “House’s sickness is an indispensable part of his skill, possibly his intellect, and if not his intellect, than his identity. All of us fear change because we fear even the things we dislike in our lives, we fear that they are nonetheless part of us, and if we surrender them then we will become some how less.” For his time in the mental hospital, Hugh has shaved his head, saying “I have a slightly institutional look.” However, being institutionalized is not all serious though, “There is just a small musical element to it. I’m completely out of my depth; I should not be doing it, but life is about risks!” jokes Hugh.

When the Doctor’s Away, the Kids Will Play: When it comes to who’s going to be in charge with House missing in action, Omar says that Foreman is stepping into the foreground: “That’s sort of a natural progression. However, even in a mental institute, I would imagine House would still be in charge.” Unfortunately, with every doctor trying to be the boss, it may not be good for Foreman and Thirteen (Olivia Wilde). “I think the stress of trying to take over the team is obviously going to have a strain on their relationship.” Even if Foreman takes the lead, it’s not going to be easy. Omar adds, “It’s going to have a tremendous effect [with House gone]. Everyone is going to be second-guessing themselves. In that sense, House is a crutch for them. When all else fails, just go to him and he’ll have the answers. The reality is, the other doctors are not willing to take the risks that he takes.” Finally, don’t expect House to waltz back into Princeton-Plainsboro ready to take over again: “You don’t emerge from a psychiatric hospital and just get your medical license back all that easy. That differential diagnosis division is still going to be functioning, but whether he’s going to be at the head of it initially or not, that’s the question,” says Katie. Lisa Edelstein, Hugh Laurie, House Adam Taylor/FOX

Once He’s Healed:
Fans are still reeling over the imagined coupling of House and Cuddy, but Lisa tells us, “I loved the way they handled it because for one thing, it means they can still have sex. Because they haven’t done it yet. In another way it shows what he wishes he had, which includes an intimate relationship with her, wanting to live with her and wanting to be off drugs. I think we learn a lot about him and we still have the opportunity of exploring it, because it hasn’t been explored even though we got to shoot that sexy scene.” Katie seconds that notion, “I think all those emotions, sparks, difficulties and the push and pull is still there. I think the only reason why he hallucinated that hallucination with someone he works with is because somewhere that’s in his mind.” Source: E!Online

‘House’ season 6 video, get your first look

Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV

House” fans who tuned into tonight’s MLB All-Star Game got a special treat: the brand spanking new trailer for season six, complete with scenes from the season premiere. No worries if you missed it, we’ve got you covered. The quality of our video is ghetto at best, but a ghetto glimpse at House inside the psychiatric facility is better than nothing, no?

Will House stop being crazy? “No,” says Robert Sean Leonard. “It would be like Quincy suddenly getting nice and loving examining dead bodies. There are certain things that are just givens about the show, and one is the general makeup of House’s attitude and personality. He may stop hallucinating but he’d never stop being sarcastic.” Adds series creator David Shore: “It depends on how we define better. That is the question. How sick is he? Does House want to get better? Can he get better? And how much better? And how much will the team be told and how will the dynamic shift with House away? Those are the questions we are going to deal with in the first bunch of episodes, and perhaps even the whole season to a certain extent.” (Michael Ausiello)

Executive producer David Shore talks about how is in charge while House is gone, “We are going to have some fun with who is going to be running the diagnostics department. We’re not bringing in anyone new right now, so it’s going to be somebody you know.” (Watch With Kristin)

Will we ever know for sure if Cuddy realizes what House imagined happened between them? Please reassure us that they won’t drop this sizzling hot storyline! As the cast teased last week, a lot of this season has to do with House (Hugh Laurie) working his way back to sanity and realizing his feelings for Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein). To answer your question specifically, David Shore says, “I think she does know. Actually, we had some discussion about it. I think him standing on the balcony, screaming out ‘I slept with Lisa Cuddy!’ [gave it away].” Source: Kristin on E!Online

I’d like to know if we’ll see more of Cuddy as a mom in the future on House. I like the idea of her being a working mom; she could be such a good role model for women if they’d convey this storyline properly. We asked Lisa Edelstein if she wants to see that as well, but she’s more interested in the Huddy relationship than keeping up with Cuddy’s baby. Lisa tells us, “I’m eager to see what they do with the House and Cuddy storyline. The baby is fine, but I don’t think it’s really about that. I’m sure it will be woven through, but it grounds her to have a child. I think it gives her more of a life than she had. But ultimately it’s not about that, the show is not about that. The show is about the hospital and the inner relationships at the hospital.” Source: Kristin on E!Online

Will Thirteen and Taub be leaving at the end of this season? They will have completed their three-year fellowships by then. Will Chase and Cameron come back, or will there be new fellows? House executive producer David Shore says it’s too early in the season to know if they’re going to be introducing new characters. He says, “We don’t have any plans on that. As we get closer to the end of the year we might, but I don’t think we’ve mined everything we can with the six fellows we’ve had there.” Source: Kristin on E!Online

Lisa Edelstein thinks House & Cuddy are still headed for sex

Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV

The Paley Center for Media hosted a “House” panel last night, during which a great deal of info regarding the upcoming fall season slipped out. The highlights? The story will pretty much pick right back up where it left off in the finale, with House being admitted to a mental institution after hallucinating a sexual encounter with Cuddy. The season premiere will cover the three month span that House is in rehab. While there, House (who’ll be sporting a shaved head, fyi) will be spending a lot of one-on-one time with a doctor by the name of Nolan (“Gideon’s Crossing”‘s Andre Braugher). Of course, House doesn’t feel he needs to be locked up and in therapy, but he needs Dr. Nolan’s seal of approval if he ever wants to practice medicine again, so there will be some friction no doubt… hope Nolan’s not gonna be another Officer Twitter-type. The team back at Princeton Plainsboro is going to go a little crazy without House around to check their work. Thankfully, though, our guy won’t be gone for long. He will return to the hospital and, ultimately, have to deal with why he was hallucinating about Huddy sex. Said Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy), “I loved [the hallucination storyline], it means they can still have sex because they haven’t done it yet! But [the hallucination] shows what he wishes he had, wanting an intimate relationship with her and wanting to be off drugs.” So, yeah, thoughts? Do you agree?

The two-hour One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest-inspired season premiere will feature only two of the show’s main players: House and Wilson. Everyone else will show up the following week. (Michael Ausiello)

‘House’s’ new all singing, all dancing roommate

Linmanuelmiranda_290 “House” has a new roommate with a musical past. Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda has the honor of being cast as Dr. House’s roomie in the psychiatric hospital where he landed in last season’s finale, reports EW’s Ausiello. Miranda, 29, is best known for writing and starring in Broadway’s “In the Heights.” He’ll appear in at least two episodes in the upcoming sixth season. There’s no word yet whether or not he’ll bring his hoofing and singing skills into play for the role. Besides appearing on the stage, Miranda also made appearances on the new “Electric Company.” Miranda is just the first of the new, “interesting” faces that will be brought in to fill House’s psych facility experiences with a little color. We can’t wait for more. We weren’t certain what to expect with the new wave of doctors, but they’ve turned out to be great additions.

Meet House’s new roommate!

Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda has been cast as House’s psych hospital roomie, sources confirm. Miranda, best known for writing and starring in the Broadway musical In The Heights, will appear in at least two episodes beginning with the show’s sixth season premiere this fall. A House insider says producers are looking for other “interesting actors” to populate the psychiatric facility that became House’s home in last month’s finale. So if you’re an actor who excels at riding the crazy train, forward this story to your agent ASAP. Source: EW

In fact he actually says that he is “getting ready to go in and beat up on Sylar” Last we heard Episode 4×02 was being filmed, but there is no confirmation of when this scene will take place. However, based on the set pics of ZQ and Milo last week and this Tweet it seems like all of you Quinto fans will get a decent dose of him early in the season. Robert Knepper Confirmed as a Series Regular

At this past week’s Heroes Comic Con Panel, Robert Knepper who plays new villain Samuel hinted that he might have a much larger role than the initial 6 episodes he was scheduled for. Today we got official confirmation via our source with NBC that Knepper has indeed been cast as a series regular in Season 4 (Volume 5 Redemption). I have been a huge fan of Knepper since his role as T-Bag on Prison Break and I am really happy to see him signed on as a “series regular”. Also, confirmed once again is his ability as an “Earth Mover”.  Source: Heroes Spoilers

This just in: Bryan Fuller exits ‘Heroes’

Source: The Ausiello Files

Just as Heroes was gaining some creative momentum comes word of another setback: Bryan Fuller has vacated his post as consulting producer. The acclaimed Pushing Daisies auteur tells me that he left to focus on developing new projects for NBC, and not (as some have speculated) due to creative differences with series creator Tim Kring. “I’m crafting two pilots right now and it’s a lot of work,” admits Fuller, who has an overall deal with NBC. “It was just too hard to [juggle] Heroes and my development; something had to give.” Fuller’s exit was first reported by Herc at Ain’t It Cool News. Fuller returned to Heroes last December, shortly after ABC dropped the ax on Daisies. Many (yours truly included) credited him with the show’s end-of-season creative rebirth.

Season 4 – Spoiler Summary

Here is a little list of many of the spoilers for Heroes Season 4(Volume 5 Redemption) so far. This is a list by Digital Spy and does not have anything new that I could see.

Also I know these are not the only spoilers we know, but it is a good summary, so feel free to discuss below and if there are things missing let me know and we can add on to the list. For example, Hiro, Ando and Mohinder are not on the list and I know there are some details for Hiro and Ando out there.

Claire (Hayden Panettiere): is starting college in Washington, D.C. Gets two roommates, Annie (Rachel Melvin) and Gretchen (Madeline Zima), but predictably, Claire’s new life is far from straightforward. In the first episode, she discovers a body on the sidewalk, the result of a mysterious suicide. Meanwhile, she’s dealing with the fallout from her parents’ divorce process.

Nathan (Adrian Pasdar):… is Sylar. But that doesn’t mean Nathan’s going to be through and through bad next season. “I think there’s going to be a good redemptive nature to his behaviour this year,” Pasdar told Sci Fi Wire recently. “It’s nice to think it might end a little lighter. It’s nice to think it might end with a martyrdom kind of behavior thing in order to sacrifice himself to save the world.”

Peter (Milo Ventimiglia): has alienated himself from those cloest to him as he embarks on a one-man mission to save the world, one person at a time. Peter also finds a romantic interest in the form of a powerful woman. This is rumoured to be a hearing-impaired character called Emma, played by The L Word’s Deanne Bray.

Angela (Cristine Rose): Talking about episode 3, Rose told E! Online: “I learned that 20 years ago, Angela made a decision that is going to come back to bite her in her rear end. Angela tries her best, but she keeps screwing up.” Rose added that in the same episode, there will be a “huge change” for Mama Petrelli.

Matt (Greg Grunberg): is feeling guilty over the Nathan/Sylar affair but is trying to live a normal life with his wife and son. Grunberg has posted on his Twitter saying that he has been filming scenes where Matt “beats up on Sylar”. Matt also gets a new partner ( Battlestar’s Rick Worthy), an experienced LA cop who Matt turns to for advice.

Noah (Jack Coleman), Tracy (Ali Larter):… and Angela, among others, are forming The Company 2.0. But this time, The Company claims to have good intentions, with the aim of uniting heroes around the world. But there’s also a new, sinister organisation on the scene – one that treats people with abilities in a “dangerous and potentially deadly new way”.

Samuel (Robert Knepper): is a brand new character, described as a “charismatic and evil” man who will “veer into the lives of all heroes”. Check back in with Tube Talk tomorrow morning for an exclusive interview with the ex-Prison Break star talking about his new role!

Adrian Pasdar talks about why they cast an 11 year old Nathan: “I absorb a memory from an article of clothing that sends me back in time to when I was 11,” he explains. “Something happened to young Nathan but old Nathan doesn’t remember it. How can that be? It has to do with a character we have met before.” (Michael Ausiello)

Cristine Rose, who plays the imperious Heroes matriarch Angela Petrelli, says, “I just read episode 4.03 and—oh, I get chills just thinking about it—I learned that 20 years ago or so, I made a decision that is going to come to back to bite me in my rear end. Angela tries her best, but she keeps screwing up. Oh well, she stays afloat with a sense of humor and a glass of wine.” (Watch With Kristin)

Season 4 – Update on Claire, Annie and Sylathan

Ausiello from EW revealed some new spoilers about season 4 confirming that Claire and her roommate Annie will have some “kind of” romantic relationship!? He also confirmed that Adrian Pasdar revealed why they were casting a Young Nathan. Apparently Sylathan (as Nathan) absorbs a memory from a piece of clothing reminding him of something that happened to him when he was 11. I wonder if this is connected to the shocking thing from Angela’s past??

Here is the actual post on EW:

Question: Is it true that Claire on Heroes is going to have a romantic relationship with Rachel Melvin’s new character, Annie? Ausiello: That’s true. Kind of. I’m not sure about a full-blown relationship, but I can confirm that the college roomies will engage in a little Sapphic experimentation. At least that’s the plan.

Question: Heroes scoop please? Ausiello: Remember me telling you that producers were casting an 11-year-old version of Nathan? Well, thanks to Adrian Pasdar, now we know why! “I absorb a memory from an article of clothing that sends me back in time to when I was 11,” he explains. “Something happened to young Nathan but old Nathan doesn’t remember it. How can that be? It has to do with a character we have met before.”

Claire May Have a Lesbian Storyline on ‘Heroes’

In the fourth season, the cheerleader is now a college student who shares more than just a room with her new friend.

Claire May Have a Lesbian Storyline on 'Heroes' Source: Ace Showbiz
See larger image More and more spoilers are coming out for the fourth season of ““, especially the ones circling ‘s character Claire Bennet. In a recent scoop, EW’s Michael Ausiello gives a “that’s true” to the question whether or not there will be a lesbian storyline for Claire and her new roommate. In the new season, Claire is graduated and heading to college. She will live with another girl named Annie which is played by “Days of Our Lives” actress Rachel Melvin. Words are, they will share more than just a room. The hint about the same sex relationship made its round last month but it was never this close. “I’m not sure about a full-blown relationship, but I can confirm that the college roomies will engage in a little sapphic experimentation. At least that’s the plan,” Ausiello revealed. “Heroes” will be back on NBC on Monday, September 21. Hayden Panettiere said that a new mysterious group will surface as opposite to The Company. “The next season of Heroes has a lot of characters that are coming in,” she told MTV News. “There’s something called The Carnival… which is kind of the opposite of what The Company was. There’s a lot of new, cool characters.”

Season 4 – Spoilers from First Day of Filming

As most of you know the Heroes cast and crew were back on set this week hard at work beginning filming on Season 4 (Volume 5 Redemption)! This note from Adrian Pasdar details how the first day went:

What a great first day we had. Shot a load of stuff in my office, no dialogue, just me acting up a storm. Solo. Then Mr Q joined us and the fireworks began. What a gentle man. This is going to be an amazing season. Everybody dropped by the set at one point or another today. This is one seriously tight cast. I am a better person for knowing all of them I feel lucky. This was apparently posted on Pasdar’s Youtube Channel BuckShotWon. Source: The ODI

Swoosie Kurtz to Return for Season 4

Last season former Pushing Daisies star Swoosie Kurtz made a guest appearance as Millie in Season 3 as Angela’s friend. Well word is that she will return with a storyline revealing who her daughter is and that it is apparently connected to the “shocking” storyline connected to Angela’s past. The big Petrelli Family secret also seems to link back to a crime that Nathan committed as a child. Here a quote thanks to TV Guide that explains a little more:
“In the third episode, a decision Angela made twenty years ago comes back to haunt her,” hints Christine Rose (Angela) of the flashback scene. Adds Adrian Pasdar (Nathan): “An incident occurred when Nathan was a boy that he has no memory of. He has to go and make amends for the crime he committed and the whole thing ends up very poorly.”
So has this changed your opinion about the Petrelli Family storyline!? I know many of you are tired of it, but what do you think of Millie’s return?

Season 4 – Even More Casting News

The very interesting casting news continues for Season 4 of Heroes. Ausiello from EW is reporting that both Ray Park (YES that Ray Park aka Darth Maul from Star Wars) and Deanne Bray (from the L Word) are close to signing deals as recurring roles for Volume 5 Redemption. Park known for his role as Darth Maul, but also as Toad in the X-Men movies and will be next seen in G.I. Joe playing Snake Eyes.

EW is reporting that Park will be playing the “knife throwing” character in the Carnival while Bray will be playing the hearing impaired love interest for one of the Heroes. Earlier this week Tim Kring informed us that Peter will be getting a new romantic interest. So I assume Bray could be this character and in the official casting call, the character was listed as Emma.

Here are the original casting calls for the characters as a reminder.

The trailer shows the changes in Clark, how he handles bigger problems and how he is “embracing” his Kryptonian side, as Chloe puts it. The footage also gives a lot other pivotal scenes including when Daily Planet journalist John Corbet (played by ) wakes up with an artificial heart. But the biggest treat is a peek at Callum Blue’s General Zod telling his people to kneel before him. “I will find an answer we are looking for or I will die in the quest,” Zod in his human form declares. One additional peek is at Cassidy Freeman’s Tess wielding a sword and saying to Clark that it is her only chance to defeat him before he destroys their world. Unlike the rest of the shows debuting on The CW this Fall, “Smallville” premieres the latest with the date set on September 25.

General Spoilers

Smallville – Live Comic-Con Panel

Brian and Kelly just teased that we may see a living Jor-El in the new season. (Eyes peeled in episode 2 for news on that)

Callum Blue tells us he is Major Zod, not general yet. He’s younger and more manic.

Erica says Lois comes back from future w/ amnesia and she’ll be getting flashes she doesn’t understand.

Justin Hartley says Clark and Oliver will never be best friends

Chloe and Clark’s friendship now? “They have a little bit of a rocky start,” so tune in, says Kelly.

Brian says they are thinking of doing a Green Arrow sidekick story as we speak.

Brian: “Just as Clark falls for Lois, she’s falling for someone else.” (Superman, perhaps?)

Q: Is there a chance for love for Clark and Chloe? Allison says that’s “dead in the water” and Clark is a little occupied with other women. Chloe will be dealing with the loss of Jimmy and stepping into more of a powerful position, so she won’t have time for a love interest. “Chloe and Oliver?” Justin wants it!

Q: Will there be a Smallville movie? They didn’t answer. (Hmm, curious that they kept mum).

Man dressed as Superman asks about the new suit Clark wears this season, and mentions that spandex is comfy. Says Kelly: This show is about the origins. They know there is a long arc to become really who Superman becomes. It’s a bumpy road. he’s not going straight to a tailor and figure it out the first time, hence the all black suit.

Justin says we will be seeing a lot more of the Green Arrow this season. “Last year I had a chance to play hime broken down a little bit,” but they jumped out of it and he figured out his problem. We find out this year that Ollie is struggling and that will go on for a while. Brian says in the first eight episodes you “will see him hit rock bottom.”

Q: What new characters from the DC universe this year? Metallo for the first two episodes, return Toyman and Roulette, says Brian.

Kelly says they actually had two different episodes for the season eight finale because they weren’t sure if they would end the show last year. They do have a series finale planned if season nine is the last, but that can change if they are picked up. Brian says they’re not worried about “stalling.”

Geoff Johns just came up to the panel. Geoff says he’s writing another episode. He wrote “Legion.” This year will be “Justice Society of America.” He gets Callum to say “Kneel before Zod.” For everything he’s heard about this season, Geoff says, “It’s going to kickass.”

Q: When is Clark going to fly? Brian says tune in to the season premiere because they address it then.

Tom Welling will be directing two episodes this season. Allison says Tom is her favorite director. He’s very supportive and gets very excited on set. Brian tells us Allison will be directing this season as well.

Q: Is Lex really dead? Brian says we know from mythos that Lex is “absolutely not dead.”

Kelly says you will be seeing more of Erica this season. 18 episodes in total.

Erica on Lois and Clark: “I think you guys are going to be pretty excited this year. lois is dealing with being smitten with Superman and still finds Clark irritating.” This season is going to be “spicy”

Zod returns: “Kneel before Zod!” Callum shown fighting with Tess. Lois is fighting in the future. Chloe with the gun. Oliver and Lois seem to be getting closer. Brian Austin Green looks freaky. Love scene between Lois and Clark. Showing a version of Clark in the future. Was that Lex on screen? Clark in a black cape with the S on his chest.

Sneak peek: Montage of Clark turning into the red/blue blur and his path to becoming a hero. “And he is not alone” Justice League is there with him! Aquaman, Black Canary, Impulse, Cyborg, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl and Green Arrow, plus the Legion. Don’t forget Watch tower.

Comic Con 2009: Clark Has New Suit on ‘Smallville’

For the first time since the show’s premiere, Tom Welling came in support of the panel at San Diego Comic Con.

Source: Ace Showbiz

Comic Con 2009: Clark Has New Suit on 'Smallville' See larger image” was one of the panels at San Diego Comic Con that came up with numerous hints for the new season. The session was attended by the main cast such as , , , , Cassidy Freeman; producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson; as well as new addition Callum Blue. Leading the presentation was a trailer which contains a lot of recap scenes from the previous season and a new footage from the ninth season. One interesting fact shared through the trailer is that Clark will don a new suit which is totally different from the old red and blue. It is pitch black with the silver symbol “S” across the chest, topped with black trench coat. There was also a glimpse of as the new villain, Metallo, whose main source of power is kryptonite.

After the screening and a talk about the stars’ auditions, the discussion moved to how the characters will relate to each other on the new season. Souders revealed Chloe and Clark will be strained, explaining further “They have a little bit of a rocky start.” Mack said their relationship will be “dead in the water” especially with Chloe needing time to recuperate from losing Jimmy. Chloe and Clark also share very little quality time because he will be busy with other females, one of them being Lois. Speaking of her character’s development, Durance spilled “Lois is dealing with being smitten with Superman and still finds Clark irritating.”

Hartley shared that there will be a lot more of Green Arrow on season 9, as in the case of Toyman, Roulette and two other new D.C. characters. Particularly for Arrow, the producers are brewing a story of him as a sidekick although Oliver develops a rift with Clark due to their love for the same woman, Lois. Blue, who is new to the cast to play General Zod, dropped a major hint when he revealed that his Zod comes from way back from “Superman 2”. He has yet to acquire his power and has no idea who Clark Kent is. The young Zod brings troops from Krypton’s past which he cannot quite control. Mack will again take a directing role this season, so will Welling who is now a co-executive producer. Sounders added that they are prepared of a series finale should season 10 is not in order.

Clark Kent’s new nemesis in Smallville’s ninth season will be Phantom Zone reject General Zod, played by 31-year-old Brit Callum Blue, whose credits include Dead Like Me and The Tudors. But seems Supes may have another force to reckon with within his very own junior Justice League. Justin Hartley, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, recently met with his producers who told him, “Oliver will be more and more fed up with the whole [superhero] thing and on a downward spiral. I also hear he may be revisiting the Lois [romance].” Hmm…seems a poison arrow could be headed right through Clark’s heart. Who do you like Lois with? Superman or Green Arrow? Source: TV Guide Magazine

We’re actually hearing of a “strained relationship” between Chloe and Clark next season on Smallville. Those two will always work together, and they will always be your “Chloe and Clark,” but expect some tension in season nine. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Clark Kent is getting a little obsessed as the Red Blue Blur, his budding crime-fighting alias. “He is trying a little too hard to be a hero, and is leaving the rest of his life behind,” executive producer Brian Peterson told the magazine. John Corben (a.k.a. Metallo) is a new reporter at the Daily Planet who ends up with a Kryptonite heart. As for his backstory: “We know that there’s multiple versions of Metallo,” executive producer Kelly Souders explained. “We picked one of the different versions and I think people will realize which one after the first episode.” Regarding Zod: “We had a little peek at who Zod was a couple of seasons ago, which fans will remember. But this a different incarnation of Zod,” Peterson said. “We’re introducing him as Major Zod-this is before he became General Zod.” Souders added that “over the course of the season, the venomous side of Zod rises because he experiences a few key betrayals with our beloved characters.” Source: TV Guide Magazine

According to Justin Hartley, a portion of the ninth season will be about Oliver confronting his demons. “I think he is going to struggle with the things he has been afforded [as a result of] his powers,” he says. “He has sacrificed things and done things that haunt him… It’s bad stuff. We need to get to the bottom of it.” (Michael Ausiello)

The producers say that soon after mild-mannered John Corben (Brian Austin Green) begins his Daily Planet job, his fate takes a horrific twist that will change his destiny forever. (TV Guide)

Kneel Before Zod! Callum Blue Cast as Next Smallville Baddie

The CW confirms that Callum Blue, a British actor you may know from the WB’s short-lived Related or Showtime’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl, has been cast as Phantom Zone baddie Zod for season nine of Smallville. Blue will be a regular next year. As previously reported, Smallville’s other newbie will be Brian Austin Green as baddie Metallo. Terence Stamp played the part in the 1980s Superman film series.

Smallville Movie being planned?

This is being posted as a rumour. Would you like to see Smallville finish with a Movie? Let us know in the comments. If this is hoax, it’s a good one, as it comes with a few bits of convincing detail we are not sharing with you. Someone has written us, claiming to have gotten a glimpse of some signage being prepared for next month’s “Smallville” presentation at Comic-Con. His or her description: On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman “S” watermark behind the text:

Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place (can’t remember). Other info this untested source sent us suggests “Metropolis” is a movie-length project, and not a new series. Word is “Smallville” will conclude its 9-year run May 2010, so it makes sense that the CW would tack on a couple more production hours up there in Canada to make a Superman TV-movie that would run seven or so months after the series’ conclusion. But what if Tom Welling isn’t putting on the red cape for the small screen? It doesn’t seem like 18 months is enough time to slap together a big-screen “Smallville” sequel, but I also seem to remember Warner Bros. kicking the first three episodes of “Clone Wars” to cinemas without a lot of notice. This comes from an untested source, self-described as “Yoda’s Bitch,” so kindly take it all as rumor.

Please, do you have anything — anything — about Smallville? Please? Please! MATT: I shall reward your repeated use of the word “please” by sharing a provocative bit of intel I just stumbled across. A source tells me that although Sam Witwer was invited back for Season 9 — for possibly several episodes — at this time the actor has no plans to slip back into either deceased Davis’ EMT jacket or presumed-dead Doomsday’s spikey skin. Latest from Ausiello – Are they casting Zod?!

It sure sounds like it based on this season 9 casting notice that just fell into my lap: MASON: Late 20’s early 30’s. He’s a handsome charismatic charmer who savors life. He appreciates good food, loves fast cars and sees beauty in every woman. There isn’t a detail in life that eludes his senses. He is a master of seduction… knowing what everyone wants and needs before they do. But don’t let his magnetism fool you. There’s more than meets the eye. His intelligence can’t be matched. He outmaneuvers everyone in his path. Though he longs to find a home, that vulnerability can be twisted — making him a force to be reckoned with.”Source: EW

Smallville Casting Exclusive: Brian Austin Green Is Metallo!

Source: TV Guide

It’s official — the new season of Smallville can’t get here soon enough. Brian Austin Green has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Metallo, has learned exclusively. That’s right — the Terminator alum is now playing a cyborg himself. That is a pretty freakin’ super bit of casting, right? Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego “Daily Planet” journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25 Interestingly, Smallville fans were waiting for news on big, bad Zod, given the events of the Season 8 finale, but that role still has yet to be cast. (I suppose you could say the show “zigged” instead of Zod.) Green’s Smallville gig comes on the heels of the Beverly Hills 90210 alum passing on the role of One Tree Hill sports agent Clayton. (And isn’t this role so, so much cooler?!) Prior to that, Green had been attached to the CW pilot Body Politic, but that series didn’t get picked up for fall. This past TV season, Green costarred on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was canceled after two seasons.

Desperate Housewives – Latest from TV Guide Magazine – 1st Feb 2010

Desperate Housewives offers a girl-girl liplock in March between cuckoo Katherine (Dana Delany) and Susan’s stripper friend, Robin, played by Dexter’s Julie Benz. “Everyone assumed I was going to come in and break up someone’s marriage, but there’s a whole different twist,” says Julie, who appreciates Dana smelling “very pretty” and not having facial hair like her last on-screen lover, Michael C. Hall.

“This kiss comes out of a funny moment where we’re trying to ditch some guys,” says Julie. But something very real develops, which is exciting for Dana. “I guessed it,” she says. “I asked, ‘Am I becoming a man?’ And [creator] Marc Cherry said, ‘Close.’” Dana compares Katherine’s realization to recently un-closeted actress Meredith Baxter. “For a woman in her fifties to make this announcement to her community is huge,” says Dana. “I hope it sticks.”

Julie and Dana became friends years ago when they costarred in a failed “Scarface”-type TV pilot. So how long will these naughty girls play house? “I’m now up to four episodes, but they have an option for more,” says Julie. “I’m bribing the writers with cupcakes.”

Penny has run away from home and checked into a hotel using her parents’ credit card.

March 21 We’re not sure if episode 17 or 18 airs on this date, but we are assured of a new DH episode, as an episode of Castle guest-starring Dana Delany airs immediately afterwards.

A secret is revealed about Danny’s paternity: his father is actually Patrick Logan, the man Angie once worked for but is now on the run from. Speaking of Patrick, he learns about Angie’s whereabouts.

Angie’s mother appears again.

Desperate Housewives – Casting News from TV Guide Magazine

As Desperate Housewives prepares to wrap up the Angie Bolen murder mystery, and most likely
send Drea de Mateo packing after failing to click in the neighborhood, the ABC show is looking to cast Angie’s mother, described as a tough lady in her 50’s – 60’s who fights to protect her family.
Interestingly, the character’s name (for now) is Patty, which also happens to be the name of the actress the show had first hoped to cast for this role. Any idea whom I’m talking about?
Additionally, the show is searching for a hot little Russian number to play the role of Irena, a 25-year-old gold-digger who set her sights on one of the neighborhood boys. A Scavo twin perhaps? Or maybe the much sought-after Danny Bolen?
Not sure Patty would let Irena anywhere near her grandson.

Bree learns that someone, probably Jeremy, lives in a trailer park.

Ana/Danny/Angie/Gaby somehow end up in NYC at Angie’s mother’s place. Angie reveals who Danny’s bio dad is, probably Patrick Logan.
Someone’s son is engaged. I can’t tell who yet, but it’s probably a Scavo twin because the only other option is Andrew, who wouldn’t marry a woman.

  • Jesse Metcalfe makes another appearance as John.
  • Lynette learns Tom got a bad grade; Lynette leaves Penny with Tom at school.
  • Karl sends Bree a sexy text message; Look for our beloved caterers Bree and Katherine to cause a scene during a wedding they’re catering, as Katherine becomes emotional over a cake.

  • Gabrielle makes a possible enemy, which could be bad for Carlos as Carlos hopes to merge his company with the woman’s husband’s company. Carlos, Gaby, and the couple have dinner together.
  • Bree’s still cheating with Karl in a motel room. But will comments from the maid cause her to rethink the affair?

  • Lynette arrives home to find Tom with some of his (younger) fellow college students. Later, she goes to a frat party to find Tom. She doesn’t find him, but does learn Tom’s secret: he’s cheating in school!
  • Orson learns Bree lied about where a cameo pin came from. Will this lead him towards learning the truth about his wife’s affair?
  • When one of the Solis children swears at school, the principal wants the child pulled from the Thanksgiving pageant. Gabrielle is against this.

As Orson finally learns about Bree’s affair with Karl, the storyline climaxes with a major cliffhanger. (Traditionally, episode 10 is the last episode of the calendar year, so whatever the cliffhanger ends up being, don’t expect an answer til 2010.

We’re aware of at least 4 rumors about actors from the UK who are said to be up for roles on DH. We’re not going to report them all. Frankly, if we had a dime for every British actor who’s been reported to be close to getting a role on this show, we’d be rich!

Marc Cherry was asked if he will release Neal McDonough’s Dave from the loony bin and he responded: “Not this season.” (Michael Ausiello)

“I don’t see Drea [de Matteo] as a replacement for Nicolette [Sheridan],” creator Marc Cherry says. “Her character is more a replacement for Neal [McDonough] in that she’s [the focus] of the new mystery.” Cherry goes on to describe Drea’s matriarch, Angie Bolen, as “a very loving but tough Italian woman who comes [to Wisteria Lane] with her husband and her kid. They’re running from something. We understand through her actions in the first couple of episodes that she’s a smart woman who will do what she has to to protect her family.” (Michael Ausiello)

Orson won’t catch on to his wife’s affair — at least not at first. “We’re going to play him just not understanding what’s going on,” explains creator Marc Cherry. “He finally gets wind of it and it’ll build to a shocking conclusion in our 10th episode. We’ve got an interesting cliffhanger involving the threesome.” (Michael Ausiello)

Marc Cherry worked out a “situation with Shawn Pyfrom that both grants the actor’s wish to pursue other projects and ensures that Andrew doesn’t vanish without a trace. It’s basically called being bumped to recurring. “He wanted more freedom [so] we [hammered out] a smaller episode order with him,” he says. “I don’t ever want to say goodbye to him completely. He’s a beloved figure around here.” (Michael Ausiello)

Desperate Housewives – Maiara Walsh Interview

Don’t expect any news in this interview:

Q: How did the role of Ana Solis come to you?

Maiara: “I got a call to audition for Desperate Housewives and I went in and I believe I had about 3 auditions. I was guaranteed an episode in the season finale and they had a month to decide whether to pick me up for a series regular — and they did. Needless to say, I was very, very excited.”

Q: Tell us about your character…

Maiara: “She is a bit of a wild child. She and Gaby butt heads and will continue to butt heads. She’s been bounced around from relative to relative. Her mom is in prison and she hasn’t seen her dad since she was 3, so she definitely has some issues. She’s decided that she is going to make things happen for herself and she’ll do whatever it takes to get what she wants. I think one of the reasons she and Gaby butt heads so much is because they’re so similar.”

Q: What can you tell us about season 6 of Desperate Housewives?

Maiara: “Ana is going to continue testing Gaby’s patience by acting up and misbehaving. In the first episode she has this really funny scene with Gaby in a club and she does something she’s never done before… I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s really funny. She’s a young girl who likes boys, so I think there will be some love mysteries and triangles.”

Q: Which cast members do you hang out with?

Maiara: “Right now, most of my scenes are with Eva. It’s been real nice getting to know her and bond with her. I think it’s important to have that connection with the people you work with or you’re going to show up for work miserable everyday. I got to know the Scavo twins when I was shooting the season finale and they were fun.”

Desperate Housewives: Who’s Under the Veil?

Source: E!Online

James Denton, Desperate Housewives ABC/RON TOM

The news of Andrea Bowen returning to Desperate Housewives for the season-six premiere is sparking debate that her homecoming means Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) is at the altar, behind the veil and getting married to Mike Delfino (James Denton). Spoiler Alert: We’re giving you every chance not to peek inside at the evidence we’ve compiled because all signs point to one Wisteria Lane resident over the others. Here are the five reasons to support who we think is under the veil… Without dissing Dana Delany (Katherine Mayfair), we have a gut feeling that Susan is actually the blushing bride-to-be. The facts are these:

  1. Andrea Bowen is returning as Julie Mayer in a regular capacity this season. Mike always treated her like his own daughter while dating her mom, and she’d need to be back to be a bridesmaid in the wedding.
  2. Karl Mayer (Richard Burgi), Susan’s ex-husband, was at the wedding (keep your eyes peeled on the 40-second mark). He has no ties to Katherine and he despises Mike. If it isn’t Susan, why would he be there?
  3. The season finale script reads “The family is reunited” when Susan and Mike embraced after their near-death experience. Reunited and it feels so good, no?
  4. Because executive producer Marc Cherry wants them together. Regarding the Mike and Susan relationship, Cherry said back at the Paley Festival: “The idea is, we’ll get back there. I don’t know when. If ABC makes a deal with all of us, it looks like we have a few years to play this out, so I would imagine at some point in time Susan and Mike will find their way back in each other’s universe.” We think it’s about time, don’t you?
  5. Finally, we here at WWK simply want it to be Susan because we’re sick of the merry-go-round of keeping them apart.

BREAKING : She’s the Bride…?!

So when season 5 of Desperate Housewives ended, they were all attending Mike Delfino’s wedding to a mystery bride. So we were left to spend the summer wondering if it was ex-wife Susan Mayer or his fiancee Katherine Mayfair? Well one of my readers Sandy was taking one of those tours of Universal Studios, where the show tapes, and guess who she saw in a wedding dress? By the looks of the picture she took, I think we know who the new Mrs Delfino is… So if you want to know who she is, then… Looks like Dana Delany is a housewife once again. I mean she looks to be wearing the same dress that the woman was wearing when she married him, but the one difference is her hair down instead of up. Maybe production messed up on that one? So do you think she is the bride or there was second wedding and she is marrying someone else? Source: SeriouslyOMG

November Sweeps News : Mary Alice’s Appearance

Marc Cherry stated in an episode of the online series Ask Desperate Housewives that the November sweeps episode of season six will jump back in time to when Mary Alice was alive, and she will physically appear in the whole episode. This follows the pattern of Desperate Housewives having a very special episode during November sweeps, Such as season three’s “Bang”, season four’s “Something’s Coming”, and season five’s “City on Fire”. Obviously, those episodes involve a: hostage situation, tornado, and fire. The pattern will be broken by this episode.

General Spoilers

  • DH has added a new family to Wisteria Lane to play a role in the season’s new mystery. The matriarch of the family will be played by Drea de Matteo, while her landscape designer husband and tightly wound son will be played by Jeffrey Nordling and Beau Mirchoff respectively. The family will be living in the house probably best known as Mary Alice’s former home; Mike lived there last season prior to moving in with Katherine.
  • Julie (Andrea Bowen) also returns as a series regular and will be involved with the mystery as well.
  • The show’s casting a college student who will be a recurring character throughout the season, but he may not have a huge presence in many episodes.
  • Shawn Pyfrom (Andrew) is not returning as a series regular, but expect him to make some guest appearances.
  • The woman Mike doesn’t marry has a breakdown. Last season, Teri Hatcher pitched the idea that she wanted Susan to have a nervous breakdown. It’s entirely possible that the writers took Teri’s idea and gave it to Katherine, but if we were placing a bet, we’d say Katherine’s marrying Mike and Susan’s having a breakdown.
  • Karl (Richard Burgi) will be back for many episodes as Bree’s romance with Karl continues. Bree turns to an old friend who’s been out of the picture.
  • Maiara Walsh will be a series regular as Gabrielle’s niece Ana. Look for her to complicate Gabrielle’s life. Jesse Metcalfe will appear in several episodes as John, though how many episodes he will be in remains uncertain at this time.
  • Although Mike marries someone, the Susan/Mike/Katherine triangle will continue.
  • Lynette’s unexpected pregnancy tests her family. Source: DH tripod

Jesse Metcalfe’s John can become a regular!

After two years away from Wisteria Lane, Jesse Metcalfe will be going back to his roots as Desperate Housewives‘ sexy gardener John Rowland. “He’ll be on for six to eight episodes, with the possibility of coming back full-time,” an insider on the ABC hit tells OK!. Story lines are still in development, but the source has some good news to confirm: “He’ll have a lot of shirtless scenes.”

Vitale’s moving to… The family will be living in the house probably best known as Mary Alice’s former home; Mike lived there last season prior to moving in with Katherine. Source: DH tripod

Kyle MacLachlan is returning next season. And he’ll remain a series regular. (Michael Ausiello)

Lynette’s pregnancy will be a central issue this season, a mole tells me, and it explains why Tom will probably not be playing Hacky Sack on the quad any time soon (was that just me?). Instead, the Scavos’ twist of fate will position him to be among the first of the show’s cast to interact with a colorful new family moving to Wisteria Lane. Imagine Adriana pronouncing the word “hardwood,” and you’re halfway there. (TV Guide)

Any hint as to who was under the veil on the season finale of Desperate Housewives? A source close to the Desperate Housewives set tells us neither Teri Hatcher nor Dana Delany were actually at the altar, just to make sure no one would be able to spill the season-five cliffhanger. However, the source did spill a juicy tidbit that may be a clue as to who the new happy couple is: Following the car accident in the season finale, where Susan and Mike (James Denton) embraced, the script read, “The family is reunited.” Could that point to Susan being under the veil? Discuss in the comments! Source: E!Online

Jesse Metcalfe to Return

Gabrielle’s gardener boy-toy from Desperate Housewives’ first season, John Rowland (Jesse Metcalfe), will be back on Wisteria Lane in the third and fourth episodes of Season 6. Last seen in 2007, John had married the daughter of a wealthy businessman. “Now he’s divorced and doing well in a different industry,” says creator Marc Cherry. Gaby’s husband, Carlos, will be none-too-pleased to learn that John is single again. But this time it’s not necessarily Gaby whom Carlos has to worry about, but his troublemaking niece, Ana (Maiara Walsh). Per Cherry, “When Ana finds out that Gabrielle had an affair with John, she sets her sights on him, which upsets Gabrielle.” Juicy! Source: TV Guide Magazine

TV Geometry: Complete the Desperate Housewives Love Triangle

The latest Desperate Housewives news has us in the mood for a threesome. The facts are these: Drea de Matteo’s character will have a 19-year-old son who we hear is a bit of a lady-killer. Maiara Walsh, who plays Gaby’s headstrong niece, has been promoted to be a series regular. ABC has announced that Andrea Bowen, Susan’s eye-rolling daughter, Julie, will return to the show for the Season 6 premiere. ( has confirmed that her stay on Wisteria Lane will be significantly longer.) Isn’t it time we got these crazy kids together? So let’s cast the Italian Stallion already, shall we?….read more

Andrea Bowen has signed on to reprise her role as Susan’s daughter, Julie. Bowen is set to appear in the September 27 season premiere. Insiders say that she is returning as a series regular. Bowen was last seen in the November 16 episode, in which Julie visited her mom (Teri Hatcher), bringing along her much older boyfriend Lloyd (Steven Weber). Julie’s father, Karl (Richard Burgi), may be featured prominently on the series this coming season as well. (Michael Ausiello)

‘Housewives’ scoop: Julie’s coming home

Source: The Ausiello Files

Andrea-Bowen_l Wisteria Lane is welcoming back one of its own this fall: Original Desperate Housewives star Andrea Bowen has signed on to reprise her role as Susan’s eldest spawn, Julie. Although ABC would only confirm that Bowen is set to appear in the Sept. 27 season premiere, a Housewives insider tells me that the actress is returning as a series regular. Bowen vanished from Housewives at the end of season 4, a casualty of the show’s four-year flash forward. She briefly returned last season when Julie, on break from college, announced that she was dating her 40-year-old professor Lloyd (Steven Weber). It’s not clear if he’ll be accompanying her back home, but I’m guessing not.

Casting News

Wisteria Lane’s newest resident, Drea DeMatteo, has found her family. Jeffrey Nordling and Beau Mirchoff have joined the cast of ABC’s dramedy “Desperate Housewives” as regulars next season. Nordling will be playing a New York landscape designer who moves to Wisteria Lane with his wife (DeMatteo) and their tightly wound, sexy and intense son (Mirchoff). Heading into its sixth season, “Desperate” has been beefing up the cast with new faces, including new regulars DeMatteo, Nordling, Mirchoff and Maiara Walsh and returning Andrea Bowen. APA-repped Nordling most recently co-starred in the seventh season of Fox’s hit drama “24.” He also co-starred on FX’s “Dirt” opposite Courteney Cox. Mirchoff, repped by APA and managed by Vital Management Group, starred in Sony’s “The Grudge 3” last year.

Drea de Matteo joins Desperate Housewives

Afraid Desperate Housewives would lose its edge without Nicolette Sheridan’s Edie around? You can fuhgettaboutit. Emmy-winning Sopranos heroine Drea de Matteo is joining the cast as Wisteria Lane’s newest vixenish housewife, sources confirm. De Matteo, who will be a series regular, will play the matriarch of a new Italian family. Casting is underway for her landscape designer husband and their tightly wound son.

Desperate Housewives scoop please! Looks like Bree (Marcia Cross) isn’t giving up on her adulterous ways. Kyle MacLachlan says of the sixth season: “They’ve brought back Richard Burgi and he’s going to come between us a little bit. They have some things coming up. They haven’t told me exactly what’s going to happen, but there are going to be some sparks.” Source: Kristin on E!Online

Please give me some scoop on what’s next for Desperate Housewives‘ Bree. MICKEY: Bree may come off like a brittle maneater, but at heart she’s a real softy, which is why juggling an angry Orson and a horny Karl will really wear on her this fall. Who will she turn to in this time of need? An old friend who you might have thought was out of the picture. Source: TV Guide Online

Please tell us the rumors aren’t true, and that Desperate Housewives isn’t going with a melodramatic miscarriage storyline for Lynette. MICKEY: Egads, this is morbid, Steph, but let’s retrace our steps: Marc Cherry has said that he thinks a mother losing a child would be rich territory for the show to cover. From the season finale — and just about every other episode of the series — we can deduce that Lynette clearly does not like being pregnant. But what if she suddenly does… and then she isn’t? These are good questions to ask. Methinks you might be on to something. Source: TV Guide Online

  • Julie (Andrea Bowen) will be back. Karl (Richard Burgi) will be back for many episodes as Bree’s romance with Karl continues.
  • Maiara Walsh will be a series regular as Gabrielle’s niece Ana. Look for her to complicate Gabrielle’s life.
  • Although Mike marries someone, the Susan/Mike/Katherine triangle will continue.
  • Lynette’s unexpected pregnancy tests her family.

ABC Upfront

After jumping five years ahead into the lives of the women of Wisteria Lane, critically acclaimed series “Desperate Housewives” returns for its sixth season on ABC. Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Mike (James Denton) are brought together by their worst fears; Lynette’s (Felicity Huffman) unexpected pregnancy tests her family; as Bree’s (Marcia Cross) marriage dissolves, she finds herself in the arms of another man; Gabrielle (Eva Longoria Parker) is in for a surprise when she and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) welcome their niece into their home; and Katherine (Dana Delany) struggles over the thought of losing Mike.

Spinoff is a Go

THE “Desperate House wives” spinoff starring Lily Tomlin and Kathryn Joosten may be the hottest show that ABC won’t announce at its upfront presentation this week. News of the proposed series prompted a terrific response from the public that has overwhelmed the actresses. Sources report that Joosten received so many supportive emails at her personal Web site that the site was shut down. “Desperate” co-star Neal McDonough, in an appearance on “The View” last Thursday, asked the studio audience if they would be interested in seeing the spinoff. When they all raised their hands, it was clear to producers of the project that it had a built-in audience, which may put the series on the fast-track. “Housewives” creator Marc Cherry is expected to move forward with the project in June after he meets with his staff writers and squares away the sixth season of his Sunday night hit. In the spinoff, which is not yet titled, Tomlin and Joosten are expected to reprise their roles as Roberta and Karen McCluskey. But they won’t be living on Wisteria Lane. They will play modern-day Snoop Sisters who investigate lightweight crimes in a place that has the same unreal suburban feel of the Cherry series. “Cherry loves the idea of a mystery series,” said a source close to the project. There are no plans yet to have any of the other characters from “Desperate Housewives” drop in on an episode of the spinoff, but the cross-pollination between ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” drew such strong ratings this spring, that it seems like a programming no-brainer.
