Breaking News – Lost Series Finale Extended by 30 Mins

Get ready for more “Lost.”

The producers of ABC’s hit drama have shot so much crucial material for the show’s hugely anticipated finale that the network has agreed to extend the last episode by an extra half hour.

When the “Lost” finale airs on Sunday, May 23rd, the episode will run from 9 to 11:30 p.m. The overrun will air instead of the local news, with the “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost” post-finale special remaining at 11:30 p.m. ABC is expected to announce the plan on tonight’s episode of Kimmel.

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof just completed post-production on the finale” — on Monday night. Both sent out identical Tweets: “We’re done. Amen.”

The supersizing of the finale is the latest adjustment to what might as well be called “The ‘Lost’ Weekend.” ABC is airing an “enhanced” (pop-ups) version of the show’s original two-hour pilot on May 22. On Sunday there’s a two-hour retrospective titled “Lost: The Final Journey,” followed by the finale and Kimmel post-show. Source: Hollywood Reporter

Lost‘s Mark Pellegrino: There Will Be More Answers

Source: TVGuide.com

Lost

This week’s mythos-heavy episode of Lost left fans with — you guessed it — more questions than answers. With just two episodes remaining before we find whether the show’s mysteries will ever be explained or if its producers have just been messing with us, we tracked down Jacob himself, Mark Pellegrino. He talks about who’s good, who’s bad, the father of Jacob and the man/boy in black (Titus Welliver), and whether any of it matters.

Lost kills off fan-favorites – what does it mean for the finale?

TVGuide.com: Last night’s Lost was quite the head scratcher.
Pellegrino:
I’ve been hearing that. I’ve been hearing quite a bit about that. [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: A lot of fans griped after the episode because they still felt confused about the mythology. Will there be more explanation in the last few episodes?
Pellegrino:
There will be. There will be some ends tied, but I can’t guarantee that for everyone. People have been debating the meaning of the show and the various subplots for years, and I wonder if all of the questions are going to be answered. That’s a tall order, but I think many people will be satisfied.

TVGuide.com: All along we thought Jacob was a good guy, but he’s not as good as we thought.
Pellegrino:
On a certain level, the line between good and evil has an indistinctive blurring. I think there’s a lot of crossover in the show. That doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m not good, though. Things will become clearer in the next episode, definitely. I think you’ll make up your mind one way or the other for sure, but it’s not going to be clean and pristine. You’ll definitely come down on one side or the other.

TVGuide.com: How did Jacob go from a mama’s boy to a man of confidence?
Pellegrino:
I think there’s a transformation that takes place when my mother gives me the wine. It opens certain doors for me. I think living for almost 2000 years — just the simple act of living, thinking and turning over ideas — can lead, hopefully, to a kind of wisdom.

TVGuide.com: Why can Jacob leave the island, as he’s done to visit his candidates, but the Man in Black cannot?
Pellegrino:
This is a question that I’ve wondered about myself actually. I don’t think the answer is directly provided in any episode, but it could be the fact that I’m a guardian of sorts and therefore have a certain power to exit when I want to. He can leave as long as it’s directly for a certain purpose. After I threw the Man in Black in the pit, he’s chained there. He’s become incorporeal, and he’s in something worse than hell.

TVGuide.com: Does the Man in Black still view Jacob as a brother?
Pellegrino:
I think he does. There’s still that brotherly bond between the two of them. Even though The Man in Black has changed dramatically and he’s gone from loving me to wanting me dead, there’s still that bond between us.

TVGuide.com: Who’s their daddy and does it matter?
Pellegrino:
Some Roman, I imagine. Does it matter? No, I think in the end, no. I like to think that my daddy is Marcus Aurelius.

TVGuide.com: I’m sure you can’t say who takes Jacob’s place as the guardian of the island, but can you say whether someone will actually take up the position?
Pellegrino:
That remains to be seen.

Catch up on Lost with our recaps

TVGuide.com: Will we see Jacob again before the end of the series?
Pellegrino:
You will be seeing me some more, yes.

Who’s side are you on: Jacob or the Man in Black’s?

Getting Lost: What Happens to Ji Yeon Now?

Lost – Daniel Dae Kim, YunJin Kim

With so few episodes left, Lost finally proved that even series regulars aren’t safe. But just how permanent were the deaths in Tuesday’s episode? Thanks to that sideways universe, we will get to see Sun and Jin again, though the fate of their daughter, Ji Yeon, is still in question. Find out what’s ahead straight from Yunjin Kim:

Episode 6.15 – Across The Sea – Latest from TV Guide Magazine

What’s The West Wing’s C.J. doing on the May 11 episode of Lost? No one’s officially saying anything about Emmy winner Allison Janney’s mystery character (identified only as ‘Woman’), though online speculation has it that she may be playing the mother of Mark Pellegrino’s Jacob or Titus Welliver’s Man in Black – two of the few recognizable faces in this trippy third-to-last installment titled, “Across the Sea.”

“She’s incredible, but we can’t give away who she’s playing,” says executive producer Damon Lindelof, confirming only that Allison’s role is a major one. “We will confirm that she will be a woman.” (Dang, there goes my big island tranny creation theory.)

Fellow executive producer Carlton Cuse adds, “We were so happy that she was able to do this. It was really hard for her because she was getting ready to shoot a pilot, but she squeezed us in. Then once we saw her in this part we were like, ‘How could anyone else have done this but Allison Janney?”

“In fact,” adds Lindelof, “we’ve been talking about this character for awhile and how nervous we were that we wouldn’t find the right actress. When we first started talking about this character in the writers room we called her ‘Allison Janney’ under the assumption that we wouldn’t be able to get her.”

But the two EPs got on the phone with Allison and had “a lovely conversation,” tells Lindelof. “She’d seen enough of the show to ‘get’ it, but wasn’t completely dialed in. So we explained the part and said it was as close to writing a role for a particular person as we’d ever done. And she moved heaven and earth to go down to Hawaii for eight days.”

Cuse says the mystery role required “incredible presence,” which Allison demonstrated on her long-running NBC drama. “She had so much presence in The West Wing,” he recalls. “She was in charge and had the strength we needed.”

Hmmm… So, since my tranny creation theory’s out the window, might it be possible that Janney’s character was sent to the island on official business by… Martin Sheen’s President Bartlet? Not even in a flash-sideways!

‘Lost’ producers, actors speak about tonight’s ‘they did not just do that!’ shockers

EW

the-candidateImage Credit: Mario Perez/ABCI can only imagine what you’re thinking. I can only imagine what you’re feeling. And if I had to put a voice to those thoughts and emotions, I suspect it would sound something like this: “You know, the last thing I want to read right now is a couple thousand words from Doc Jensen about the relevancy of existential literature, progressive rock, and the films of Andrei Tarkovsky to Lost. What I really want right now is to hear from exec producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof about why they did what they did tonight during ‘The Candidate.’” Spoilers ahead, Losties. SERIOUS MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED “THE CANDIDATE,” STOP READING RIGHT NOW.

But back to your thoughts. “Forget the title of the episode. ‘The Candidate’ had absolutely nothing to do with finding and naming Jacob’s replacement and instead had everything to do with making me feel really, really, REALLY crappy! How dare they take down Jin and Sun in a sinking submarine! How dare they make the Korean couple’s daughter Ji-Yeon an orphan! And how dare they kill Sayid! So what if he died a heroic death and by trying to smother the Locke-ness Monster’s bomb? He’s Sayid! We love him! Why did they have to die? WHY?”

“Because now you know this show is willing and capable of killing anyone,” says Damon Lindelof, suddenly materializing in my office in a puff of brimstone accompanied by Carlton Cuse. (Actually, that isn’t true. I interviewed the producers over hamburgers… but I’ll tell you that boring story in Friday’s Doc Jensen column. On with the important stuff!) Why was it so important for Lost to prove that it can be downright homicidal during its last season? To establish once and for all that the Locke-ness Monster is the true villain of season 6 and quite possibly all of Lost. “There is no ambiguity,” says Cuse. “He is evil and he has to be stopped.”

Or, as Terry O’Quinn told me in a recent interview: “Puffy is one nasty mo-fo.”

To be clear, the producers are not heartless bastards. They’re only semi-heartless bastards. They knew fans would be devastated (and angry) about the deaths and were pretty broken up themselves about offing three beloved creations. “When we watched the death scenes ourselves, it was brutal,” says Cuse. “[But] the story always comes first.” Lindelof elaborates: “In many ways, the season was structured as a long con on behalf of the Man In Black. Once we revealed that Locke was the Monster, we knew the audience would immediately mistrust him, and we would have to spend at least a dozen episodes of Locke trying to convince the audience that he did not have malevolent intention, that all he wanted to do was get off The Island. But everything he was doing was leading up to one moment, which was [trying to] get the candidates in one fell swoop. He knew if he killed just one of them, everyone would know what he was up to.’”

Says Cuse: “There will be very little debate at the end of this episode that [Fake Locke] is evil and bad and has to be stopped. The main narrative reason for him killing our main characters is to establish how much of a bad guy he is and to clearly identify him as the antagonist rolling into the end of the series.”

Lindelof recognizes that there’s something “brutal” about killing Jin and Sun just one episode after their long-awaited reunion — which, he says, is exactly what made the lovers such an apt choice for making a statement about Fake Locke’s malevolence. “At least they got to die in each other’s arms, so they’d have some sense of victory,” he says. And Sayid? Lindelof explains: “Sayid’s entire season-long arc has basically been, if you tell him that he is evil, you can convince him he is evil. But if you tell him he is good, maybe you can convince him he is good. We basically decided that in a moment of pure instinct, if he did something, if he sacrificed his own life in favor of saving the other people’s lives, that would convey to the audience, ‘This guy was actually a good guy.’”

The good news for fans of Lost and fans of Jin, Sun, and Sayid in particular is that they are technically still alive — in the Sideways world. “Still, it’s bittersweet,” Yunjin Kim told me in a recent interview. “They were kept separate for so long, and then they came together to die together.” She found it “beautiful” that Sun and Jin were given an end that served as an affirmation of their love and the heroic sacrifices they made for each other. “We’ve come full circle,” she says. “Sun came back to The Island [and] risked her life to save her friends and Jin, and then Jin does the same thing back.” When I asked her how she prepared for Sun’s final Island moments, Kim told this story: “Right before we started shooting, [director] Jack Bender took me aside and told me about story that he read a long time ago, about this woman who was missing her dead husband, and how she had this beach ball that he blew up before he died. Every day she took a little breath from the beach ball. And that really got me right into the emotional core of where I needed to be to play that scene. Can you imagine that woman, taking that breath little by little every day, just to feel her husband’s presence?”

Daniel Dae Kim’s thoughts on the end of Jin and Sun? “They were the Romeo and Juliet of the show, and the fact they didn’t have a happy ending does make me sad,” says the actor, who then expanded on the greater significance of the deaths to the show — but I’m afraid sharing his insights (including his take on the fate of Ji Yeon) at this point would be a bit too spoilerish. What was it like shooting his watery demise? “It was pretty difficult that day,” says Kim. “Shooting in water is never easy. But the crew was considerate and made the water warm for us, in more ways than one. Let’s just say certain members of the crew who were in that water for a very, very, very long time without ever leaving. I’ll just leave it at that.”

Now that’s evil.

I’m still processing the chilling events of “The Candidate,” and my own thoughts and feelings about the deaths of Sun, Jin, and Sayid. My recap of the episode will post sometime tomorrow. In the meantime, use the message boards below to start the discussion — and express your grief.

Lost Kills Off Fan-Favorites – What Does It Mean for the Finale?

Lost

[Spoiler Warning: This article contains details from Tuesday night’s episode of Lost, including which characters died. Reader, beware!]

After waiting nearly two years for a sweet reunion, Sun (Yunjin Kim) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) took their last breath in the submarine — a Charlie Pace-like death — in Tuesday night’s episode of Lost. So, was that really the end of Sun and Jin Kwon? Yunjin Kim discusses what we’ll see of the star-crossed lovers in the final episodes, along with teasing the last scene of the series and more.

Watch full episodes of Lost in our Online Video Guide

TVGuide.com: I’ll admit that I did shed a few tears after your death in Tuesday’s episode. The Sun and Jin reunion was so short-lived!
Yunjin Kim:
It was a brilliant way to end Sun and Jin’s life on the island. Because of the way the story is going, especially once we get to Episode 15, 16 and 17, it’s moving at a pretty fast pace. Let’s say if Jin dies alone, Sun would only grieve for Jin for two seconds and we’d have to move on with the storyline. It was a very romantic death.

TVGuide.com: The episode was jampacked with death, especially with Sayid (Naveen Andrews) taking one for the team.
Kim:
Yeah, I think we all become heroes at the end as far as the island story goes. I have a feeling that’s how the series is going to end. Sayid’s death is very abrupt and ours is very drawn out. Daniel and I both had water pouring on top of our heads while shooting it, so it was hard to even keep our eyes open. It was physically demanding.

TVGuide.com: How did you feel when the producers told you that your characters were going to die?
Kim:
As soon as I got on the phone with Damon Lindelof, he said “This phone call is not one of those phone calls.” He told me how it was going to happen and I actually thought it was a beautiful ending to both of the characters. It will only propel the other survivors to go after Locke [Terry O’Quinn], and have a very good reason to go after Locke as aggressively as they do in the final episodes.

Lost‘s Jorge Garcia: The Man in Black cannot lie

TVGuide.com: A lot of fans have been waiting two years for Sun and Jin to be reunited. Do you expect to meet some angry fan reaction?
Kim:
I think that’s where the writers wanted the fans to be: To be very angry at Locke. It’s just the way the story needs to end. Then again, I think the fans will realize that it’s not the end of Sun and Jin’s storyline, we still have flash sideways. Our story doesn’t just end with the death in the submarine. It will continue until the end.

TVGuide.com: We still get more Sun and Jin?
Kim:
Yeah, they will complete [their sideways] storyline and fans will be very satisfied at the end. The finale will be a very nice closure to this long journey.

TVGuide.com: What’s going to happen to Ji Yeon in the regular universe since both her parents just died?
Kim:
In the normal universe, Sun’s mother is taking care of her. That’s how we left the story, so I guess Sun’s parents will take over the custody. Again, because there’s another lifeline, and Sun is actually pregnant with Ji Yeon at this point, we will have a closure in that storyline.

TVGuide.com: What can you tell us about the Losties going after Locke?
Kim:
He is a force to be reckoned with. It’s Locke vs. the castaways. Whoever is leftover will fight Locke to the end. The conclusion to Locke’s story, that is part of the secret last act.

Getting Lost: What does the finale hold?

TVGuide.com: How do you feel now that the show is coming to a close?
Kim:
It’s very bittersweet. It’s great that I survived six years of Lost, literally meaning my character has survived to the very end. I’m proud to be a part of this amazing journey. I have my emotional days, but some days I’m really good and I’m really looking forward to what’s coming next. I recently got married, so it will be interesting to find out what I’ll be doing after Lost.

TVGuide.com: Will Sun and Jin get a happy ending after all?
Kim:
We’ll see. I believe in happy endings, but this is Lost, so you never know. [Laughs]

What did you think of Sun and Jin’s submarine death?

I just can’t get on board with Gia and Adrianna on 90210. I miss her and Navid being together. Any hope?

Gossip Girl – Season Finale Spoilers

I guess it’s “really, really, good” isn’t much of a spoiler. But it’s accurate. The May 17 Gossip Girl sendoff features big payoffs, several OMG! twists, and a Georgina comeback. Enough, if you ask me, to more than make up for an uneven (but not nearly as bad as some people have said!) season. Most importantly, Chuck/Blair fans freaking out over a certain spoiler-laced European trailer that shows the couple nearing third base should simmer down and judge things after watching the entire hour — a sentiment echoed by exec producer Stephanie Savage.

“I really encourage people who have seen that promo to tune in and watch the whole episode in context,” she pleads. “Those were a few moments that were taken out of context to create the most salacious experience possible. And some people who are having a negative reaction to what they’re seeing I think will have a different reaction when they see it in context. Everyone’s making decisions that are reasonable based on the information that they have.”

In other words, Savage and Co. wouldn’t do you, or your faves, wrong. “This is a story that has been three years in the telling — going back to the pilot,” she reminds us. “And that’s a story that we’ll keep telling in season 4. So I don’t think it’s coming out of nowhere. And it lands on everybody. It lands on Dan, Blair, Serena, Rufus, Lily, Nate — every single person has a POV about this, and we’re going to see these ripple effects over time. “

For now, though, here are eight tantalizing teases to calm you down, wind you up or, most likely, both. Next Monday’s capper will include a:
· Threesome
· Departure
· Mini time-jump
· Engagement ring!
· Shooting
· Birth
· Shocking OMG! twist
· A pair of spectacular Jenny smackdowns at the hands of Blair (Leighton Meester never better!)

Gossip Girl – Latest from NY Magazine – Next Season’s Trip to Paris

Comment savez dire ‘OMFG’ en Francais? Or, to translate: Vulture has confirmed that the fourth season of Gossip Girl will kick off next fall with two episodes set — and filmed — in Paris.

GG co-creator and executive producer Stephanie Savage flew to France over the weekend to begin scouting locations for a week of production in the City of Lights. At least three key characters — Blair, Serena, and Mssr. Chuck Bass — will be making the transcontinental trek in what’s destined to be pop culture’s most bon voyage since The Facts of Life girls went to Paris in 1982. (And yes, we’re counting European Vacation.)

The Paris plotline represents “the ultimate extension of our Gossip Girl world,” Savage e-mailed us Sunday, shortly after arriving in Paris. She notes that the French metropolis is synonymous with such series staples as high fashion, ritzy restaurants, and tres chic nightclubs. (Blair’s fave sweet? Macarons from Pierre Herme.)

“We mention our characters’ fabulous travels all time, but it’s very hard, and expensive, to actually show them,” Savage writes. “The books were lucky this way: ‘Aspen ski trip’ costs nothing extra to type. So it’s a big deal to be able to take production on the road, especially overseas.”

Savage says the Paris shoot is “a dream” she’s had since the CW show began … or at least since GG’s sophomore year, which launched with key characters enjoying a summer in the nice-but-it-ain’t-Paris locale of the Hamptons. (That trip also had the cost-effective bonus of being driving distance from the show’s usual Manhattan locations.) “Shooting in the Hamptons really elevated the feel and reach of (the show),” co-creator Josh Schwartz told Vulture. “But it felt like, to take it to that next level, we had to go international, and what city is more glamorous? And it’s been a part of Blair’s character, so it organically lends itself to the storytelling as well.”

Team GG began dropping hints about a Parisian excursion a few weeks ago, when the Internets got wind of the episode title for next week’s season finale: “Last Tango, Then Paris.” But just how will the menage a trois of Blair, Chuck, and Serena end up overseas? (Alerte de spoiler!)

“Serena and Blair are finishing up their fabulous summer vacation when someone from home mysteriously shows up in town,” Savage explains. “They need to solve this mystery, or else return to a New York that’s a very different world.”

No word on whether this third person is Chuck, or another character yet to be revealed. Producers are also loathe to reveal any other French connections, except that the GG narrator will eschew her usual “XOXO” sign-off for “bisou bisou,” and that the episodes will be pivotal to the show’s direction next fall.

“Paris is all about jump-starting the season and moving things forward,” Savage says. That said, the Paris ploy is being made from a position of relative strength, rather than desperation. As it ends its third season, Gossip remains the CW’s top-rated show among the network’s core target audience of women under 35. And it was renewed for another season all the way back in February.

Perhaps that’s why Savage took no offense when Vulture asked whether the decision to send Blair and Co. to Paris was inspired by the aforementioned Facts of Life Paris journey.

“FOL is the inspiration for all things GG,” she quipped.

Well, both shows do feature sometimes bitchy characters named Blair.

Gossip Girl – Taylor Momsen says she’s not sure if she will be back next season

EW: Your GG costar Leighton Meester is also trying to launch a music career. Ever talk about it?
TM: No. I’m not really close with my cast. We’re all cordial and nice to each other, but we’re not really friends outside of the set.
EW: I heard Jenny is going to be MIA for the beginning of next season.
TM: I’m gonna be on tour. But as far as next season goes I don’t really know what’s going on. I don’t wanna talk about that because it’s up in the air. At the end of the season, you’ll see.

What’s the scoop on Vanessa and Dan on Gossip Girl?
It’s not looking good long-term, sorry! I’m hearing that Vanessa will be leaving not only New York but the country before the end of the season–running off to a superfancy and superfar job with CNN. So yes, Jessica is the second female, along with Taylor Momsen’s Little J, to head off into the sunset. The good news? I’m told by sources that both ladies will still be series regulars next season. As for you wondering what Little J will do that leads to her departure, I’m told “it’s a culmination of lots of things Jenny does to multiple people.” That doesn’t sound good at all!

What’s the word on Gossip Girl?
Don’t expect Serena to continue to sit idly by while Jenny tries to hone in on Nate. The onetime pals and now stepsisters are headed for some seriously rough times ahead.

Smallville Season 9 Finale Spoilers: Salvation – Clash with Zod!

Exclusive: ‘Smallville’ boss ‘very optimistic’ Chloe will be back!

by Michael Ausiello

allison-mackImage Credit: Jack Rowland/The CWSmallvile fans worried about Allison Mack’s uncertain future on the show can collectively breathe a sigh of relief simma down now. And here’s why…

Executive producer Brian Peterson tells me he’s “very optimistic” the actress — who’s in the thick of contract talks as we speak — will be bringing Chloe back next fall for the show’s 10th season.

Asked whether it’s essentially a done deal (which is what I’m hearing), Peterson says, “We’ve learned the hard way not to say [it’s official] until everything is signed and dotted. So the best we can say is we’re really optimistic. And so is Allison.”

Translation: Chillax. She’s returning.

‘Smallville’ finale spoiler: Another provocative pic!

by Michael Ausiello

There are four things you need to know about the image below: It’s from next Friday’s can’t-miss Smallville finale; the action depicted occurs after the events featured in Photo No. 1; scoop on both images can be found in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly (on sale tomorrow); and, as promised, a clue will be embedded in this week’s Ask Ausiello. Are we still having fun?!

Exclusive First Look: ‘Smallville’ season finale showdown!

by Michael Ausiello

Smallville-SalvationImage Credit: Jack Rowand/The CWThis only looks like a screen grab from Dancing With the Stars. It’s actually a sneak peek at the wet-’n-wild showdown Smallville‘s staging in its May 14 season finale between Clark and Zod. Our money’s on the future Superman, natch, but his nemesis’ dagger is made of blue kryptonite — you know, the kind that strips our hero of his powers — so at least he has a, um, fighting chance.

Smallville – Episode 9.22 – Salvation – Press Release

FRIDAY, MAY 14

SEASON FINALE

“SMALLVILLE” – (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

IT’S CLARK VS. ZOD IN THE SEASON FINALE – Zod (Callum Blue) unleashes his army upon the world, forcing Chloe (Allison Mack) to call in reinforcements from old friends. Zod tells Lois (Erica Durance) he is The Blur and asks her to steal the Book of Rao from Clark (Tom Welling). Torn between Clark and The Blur, Lois asks Clark to come clean with her about everything but he refuses. Chloe (Allison Mack) and Oliver (Justin Hartley) attempt to reconnect Watchtower’s satellite system in order to fight the Kandorians but to Chloe’s horror, Oliver gets caught on site and disappears. Tess attempts to stop Zod but he leaves her clinging to life. Clark and Zod battle for control of Earth. Greg Beeman directed the episode written by Turi Meyer & Al Septien (#3X52722).

Smallville – Mega Buzz – 4/27

Seems like Clois sex is on the table on Smallville. Is it going to happen this season?
ADAM: As you point out, both Lois and Clark definitely seem up for it. As for whether they’ll actually seal the deal this year, there’s just one little problem, according to executive producer Brian Peterson: “They keep trying, but sadly and ironically, the Blur has come between Lois and Clark [to prevent them from] ever consummating their relationship.” I’ll leave you to argue (cry?) about Peterson’s use of the word “ever.”
Source: TVGuide

Smallville – MegaBuzz – 4/20

ADAM: Although Chloe and Oliver have been taking it slow, given their respective rocky pasts, executive producer Brian Peterson says their relationship is “forced to the next step” in the season finale. And don’t worry: The return of the Black Canary doesn’t pose a threat. “Their relationship is still pretty fresh, and they’re still trying to figure out how they feel about each other,” Peterson says. “So it feels premature to go there, but that’s definitely a possibility for future episodes.”

Smallville – First Look – Martha Kent Returns Home

Martha Kent (Annette O’Toole) returns home to Smallville on May 7, and, much to Clark’s surprise, mom’s got a new boyfriend — Perry White (Michael McKean)! Here’s your exclusive first look at what I’m sure will go down as one of the show’s most awkward double dates ever. (Meta trivia: O’Toole and McKean are married in real life.)

Smallville: Martha Kent and Perry White’s Return Shake Up Lois and Clark’s Relationship

Source: TV Guide

Smallville

This week’s episode of Smallville brings together Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and Perry White (Michael McKean) for their first meeting, though Perry’s return comes as a surprise to Clark as he shows up on the arm of his mother, Martha Kent (Annette O’Toole). TVGuide.com caught up with O’Toole and McKean — whose real-life married couple banter is hilarious — to get the details on the evolution of their characters since we last saw them and if they’ll return for more next season. Plus: Who really is the Red Queen?

Smallville producer: The finale is Clark’s redemption hour

TVGuide.com: The Smallville fans are very excited to have Martha Kent back on the show. How does it feel returning?
Annette O’Toole:
It’s so great to come back. I love the people up there and it was really hard to leave them originally. There was a lot of hugging and kissing before we actually started work. I haven’t actually done any TV or film since then, I’ve only been doing theater, so I thought, “When they say action, will I know what to do?” I did. [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: Michael, we haven’t seen you since Season 3. How does it feel getting to play this iconic moment of Lois and Perry coming together?
Michael McKean:
It’s great. I grew up reading Superman comics. Actually in Season 2, mainly due to my wife’s incessant bitching, they were talking about casting me as the principal of the high school, and it didn’t work out because I had a scheduling problem. I’m so glad because now I get to be Perry White for God’s sakes! I’m in the Daily Planet office, with the globe and everything. It was pretty intense. Plus, the fact of coming back after six years and seeing that Tom Welling has not aged a day [Laughs], it’s kind of infuriating.

Smallville word games: What is Clark’s destiny?

TVGuide.com: What you can tell us about how Lois and Perry will interact?
McKean:
At first she’s just this pretty girl that Clark has hooked up with, and gradually I start realizing that she’s really sharp. She’s the one-in-a-million kind of person who is born to knock over the ant hills and really see what’s going on inside. She’s a Woodward to my Bernstein, I guess.
O’Toole: You look a little more like Woodward. Taller.
McKean: I’m an old WASP is what you’re saying.
O’Toole: Yeah, well. [Laughs]
McKean: There’s a scene where I’m filling Lois in on something I’m working on and we realize there’s a confluence there that maybe we’re working on different aspects of the same story. It was a really fun scene to play.

TVGuide.com: Martha’s role is definitely more than just being a mother now. She’s a U.S. senator and a secret government operative. What do you think of this evolution?
O’Toole:
It’s fabulous! It’s something she probably should’ve been doing all along. She was studying to be a lawyer, decided not to do that. She threw herself into her marriage and the farm, and then wanted to have a family, that didn’t work out. She found this baby —
McKean: A super-baby! [Laughs]
O’Toole: Yeah, I love that she’s always going to be his mother, and always going to put his interests ahead of everything else in her life, but she’s got this other thing, too. When the kids grow up and leave, you’ve got to have your own life. She lost her soul mate, so I’m so glad that Martha has this. She’s doing good things in Washington.

Watch full episodes of Smallville

TVGuide.com: Is being the Red Queen a good thing? The promos seem to indicate that it’s Martha.
O’Toole:
I can’t talk about that, but I can say that Martha is a force for good. She’ll go as far as she thinks is necessary to protect Clark’s secret.
McKean: How far would any woman go to protect her child?
O’Toole: That sounds like a good blurb for a Lifetime movie. We’ve been in that movie, haven’t we?
McKean: I think so. [Laughs]

TVGuide.com: How will Perry and Martha’s visit affect Lois and Clark’s relationship?
McKean:
It’s definitely a turning point for Lois, and to a certain extent, it’s a turning point for Perry as well. The impact will be seen down the line.

TVGuide.com: Is Martha against Clark revealing his identity to Lois?
O’Toole:
No. She wants him to be happy. Martha’s greatest wish is for her son to be normal and loved. She’s not going to live forever, so she wants him to be happy.

Read our Smallville recaps

TVGuide.com: Would Martha rather he put his relationship first or save the world first?
McKean:
Why can’t you have both?
O’Toole: It’s like, can’t a woman be a mother and have a career? [Laughs] Why can’t you save the world and have a girlfriend?

TVGuide.com: Because Smallville has been renewed for Season 10, would either of you return next year?
O’Toole:
No one has said a word to us.
McKean: We’re going to have to see how they approach Season 10 and then we’ll know. We’re not being coy, by the way; we really don’t know. [Whispers] We have to pretend we’re not interested so they’ll get serious [Laughs]. We’re just teasing. We both have things lined up that we’re planning on doing and we’ll just see what’s possible.

Smallville – Spoiler Chat – E! Online – 4-19-2010

Will Michael Rosenbaum or Kristin Kreuk return to Smallville? And will Allison Mack be on the new season?
A source tells me “no chance” for Kristin, even though she’s free now after being recast in Josh Schwartz’s new pilot. I’m also told that Allison Mack has not yet signed a deal for season 10, but, “I’m sure she’ll be there,” says this reliable insider. As for the bald beauty that is Lex Luthor, the answer is…Keep the hope alive? Says show runner Brian Peterson: “We have never ever given up hope, but at this point, that’s all it is. We have a great relationship with Michael; it just hasn’t happened yet. I would never give up hope until the final second.” It’s not the hell yes! we were hoping for, but it’s better than a no, right?

Massena in Austin, Texas: Producers have claimed Tess and Chloe are a lot alike on Smallville. What do they mean, and why are they having them interact more?
“That’s dead-on,” show runner Brian Peterson tells us. “They’re a lot alike and yet very different. Tess always has to be hooked to a hero, always supporting some kind of hero, whether they end up being good or bad. But Chloe has moved into becoming a hero in her own right. We haven’t quite developed Tess’s character as much as we’re going to.” Still, there’s more to come. “People will have a lot of fun in these last few episodes because there’s a lot of Tess and Chloe.”

Ghost Whisperer Season Finale Spoilers: All About Aidan

Ghost Whisperer Spoilers: Season Finale to Focus on Aidan Storyline

Source: TV Fanatic

This Friday, Ghost Whisperer doesn’t merely return with its first new episode in weeks – it airs its 100th installment. The special episode is directed by Jennifer Love Hewitt. Looking ahead, the drama’s cast and crew spoke to TV Guide Magazine this week about the season finale in May. Titled “The Children’s Parade,” what can fans expect from this episode? For starters, it will wrap up the long-running storyline involving Melinda’s son, Aidan, says producer Ian Sander: “The connection of Aidan, Melinda, the Shinies (who will turn out to be the crossed-over spirits of children here to protect Aidan and Melinda) and the Shadows will come to a climax.” Adds fellow producer Kim Moses: “There’s going to be a lot of action from the dark side and you’re going to have a lot of answers to some mysteries about the intersection of the living and the dead.”

Ghost Whisperer Crew

Ghost Whisperer creator John Gray will direct the episode, which he describes as “one of the show’s scariest. It’s basically about a haunting at a hospital by the ghosts of kids from an abandoned polio ward in the early 1900’s. They go on a march every night.” As for Melinda? The show’s star says her character “will realize just how little she knows about what her son knows – and that’s scary for her. Because if she can’t see it, then she can’t save him from it.”

Cue the suspenseful music…

Vampire Diaries Season Finale Spoilers: Founder’s Day Death!

Vampire Diaries – Revised Sweeps Poster

Vampire Diaries
8/7c CW
Isobel and John (who were revealed to be Elena’s real birth parents last week) attempt to carry out their devious plan to kill Stefan and Damon in the first-season finale. Everything comes crashing down as Mystic Falls celebrates its annual Founder’s Day event, with Caroline leading the festivities as the reigning queen. And, of course, there is tension between Elena and Bonnie since Bonnie didn’t remove the spell from the deadly device that can harm vampires like she promised. This is one festival that is sure to end with lots of fireworks. — Tim Holland, TVGuide.com

Question: Some Damon and Elena scoop, please? After last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, I am so on board with this couple. Stefan who?
Michael Ausiello:
Exec producer Kevin Williamson coughed up the following tease about this Thursday’s season finale that may or may not pertain to Damon and Elena: “One vampire will be forced to reconcile his humanity when it becomes impossible to deny his feelings for one very human girl.” KW goes on to tease that “Founder’s Day will serve as the backdrop for the final showdown between the tomb vampires and the town council — placing all of our characters in deadly jeopardy.” In related news, I can confirm that two of the 18 confirmed fatality slots on my May Sweeps Scorecard are reserved for VD characters.

Vampire Diaries – Episode 1.22 – Founder’s Day – Press Release

THURSDAY, MAY 13

SEASON FINALE

“THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” – (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

“Founder’s Day” (CONTENT RATING TBD) (HDTV)

FOUNDER’S DAY TURNS DEADLY – Founder’s Day has finally arrived, and everyone is busy with last-minute preparations for floats and fireworks. Stefan (Paul Wesley) is uncomfortable with Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) new attitude toward Elena (Nina Dobrev), but Elena is more concerned about repairing her relationship with Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Jeremy is worried about Anna (guest star Malese Jow), but not sure he’s on board with her latest plan for the future. While Caroline (Candice Accola) is enjoying her day as Queen of the celebration, she also tries to help Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) get their friendship back on track. Finally, although Damon and Alaric (Matt Davis) do their best to stop him, Johnathan Gilbert (guest star David Anders) sets a plan in motion that brings Founder’s Day to an end amid chaos, destruction and death. Sara Canning and Katerina Graham also star. Marcos Siega directed the episode written by Bryan Oh & Andrew Chambliss.

They wouldn’t kill Alaric in the season finale of The Vampire Diaries, would they? Matt Davis is my favorite on that show!
MICKEY: “I had a lovely conversation with Kevin Williamson a week or so ago about the future of Alaric, and I must say, it looks bright,” the artist formerly known as Warner Huntington III told us. So it seems he’ll survive the season finale’s apocalyptic Founder’s Day celebration. In fact, we’re hearing that Davis might be promoted to a series regular in the fall. Source: TV Guide

How about a tiny little something on how the season finale actually and truly ends? Can you handle it? OK, proceed to read: A source tells me the very last face you will see before the screen fades to black belongs to… Elena. Will she be screaming in agony as she is buried alive? Laughing at a good joke? Overcome with ecstasy as she couples with Damon? This, we do not know.

Vampire Diaries – latest from Eonline Alaric to survive season 1

Tick tock the clock is counting down to the season finale where at least one series regular will die for good. Eonline has added Alaric to the safe list which also includes Elena ,Stefan, Tyler and Damon. This leaves Jeremy, Jenna, Matt, Caroline and Bonnie in danger. Please note that other characters like Pearl or Anna could also die as a secondary death.

Here’s what Eonline had to say:

I think Matt Davis is awesome on The Vampire Diaries. They aren’t going to kill him off, are they?
Thanks to Alaric’s fancy lifesaving ring (take that, Damon!), and the producers feeling the same as you, I’m told that Matt is sticking around. No plans to off him.

How about some news on Damon on TVD? I’m kind of wanting him to go back to being evil. Will his good side stick around long?I’m told he’ll always be in a gray area, between good and evil. And hello, he has done plenty of evil things as of late, including slaughtering (he thought) Alaric and snapping his kindly neighbor woman’s neck! Vampire Diaries – SpoilerTV exclusive on your burning questions

IMDB has Kayla Ewall listed for episodes 21,22 and all of season 2 is she coming back?
IMDB is wrong currently there are no plans to bring her back.

What happened to Bonnie’s cousin?
Bonnie wasn’t originally supposed to be absent for so long but they decided to cancel the plotline with her cousin at least for now. That lead to the big Bonnie hiatus, she will be back next episode though and will be in every episode till the season finale.

Is the Tyler werewolf plotline going to go somewhere anytime soon?
Unfortunately, Tyler won’t even be in the next two episodes, the episode after that is all about Isobel and then theres just the season finale so they really have no time to truely explore the werewolf plot this season, but you can be sure that it will be a major plotline in season 2!

Did Kelly Donovan leave?
Yes, that subplot is done for now, Matt is also taking a break for the next two episodes.

I miss the flashback episodes are we getting another one?
Yes episode 20 includes lots of flashbacks with Katherine and co.

I miss Bonnie, any scoop on her?
The Bonnie that returns next week is a changed person, the death of her grandmother deeply affected her. Look for things to get really tense between her and Stefan as she goes all out against their relationship.

Will the identity of Elena’s biological father be addressed?
The show will explore the possibility of John Gilbert being Elena’s father.

Is the season finale going to end in a big twist?
There will be several HUGE shockers in the finale. According to in the season finale

Supernatural Season 5 Finale: The Apocalypse! Dean vs. Death!

Supernatural‘s Mark Pellegrino: Fans Will Be Satisfied with the Finale

Source: TVGuide.com

Supernatural

It’s the moment Supernatural fans have been waiting for all season: Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) is about to throw down with pretty much everyone. TVGuide.com caught up with Pellegrino, who says Lucifer is quite the sympathetic character. (Um, what about that whole wanting to destroy all of mankind thing?)  The 45-year-old actor also gave us the details on Lucifer’s journey to the apocalypse as well as the similarities between Lucifer and his character on  Lost, Jacob.

Watch full episodes of Supernatural in our Online Video Guide

TVGuide.com: Everything has been leading up to the showdown between Michael and Lucifer. What has the journey been like for Lucifer?
Mark Pellegrino:
It’s been interesting because I go from a broken-hearted, blue-collar guy to a being that is far more powerful than even I thought. I never expected in a million years that Lucifer would be killing off pagan gods like they were nothing. [Laughs] I didn’t know I was that powerful. He’s on a mission, single-mindedly pursuing a goal and perhaps he’ll achieve it.

TVGuide.com: What’s Lucifer’s endgame besides the basic destruction of all mankind?
Pellegrino:
I think that’s a pretty big endgame. And it’s the best way to get back at daddy, to destroy the very thing that his father wanted him to sacrifice his life to. I even think that he might want to go as far as destroying God, but that’s quite a tall order.

TVGuide.com: Which character seems more sympathetic to you: Lucifer or Lost‘s Jacob?
Pellegrino:
I feel that Lucifer’s character has a pretty sympathetic arc to it. Oddly enough, they’re both characters that are on the outside. I was very shocked to see Jacob as second favorite, constantly grasping for his mother’s love. It’s very similar to Lucifer, but I think Lucifer has a really sad story. I feel a lot of sympathy to Lucifer’s story.

TVGuide.com: They both have unrequited love for their parents.
Pellegrino:
That’s exactly it, except one hasn’t lost his innocence and still keeps that love and fire burning, and the other one is utterly and totally vengeful.

Lost‘s Mark Pellegrino: There will be more answers

TVGuide.com: Neither Michael nor Lucifer are actually in the right vessels going into the finale. Will that affect the showdown itself?
Pellegrino:
I imagine so. [Laughs] It gets tense.

TVGuide.com: Executive producer Eric Kripke did say that this storyline will end in the finale. Do you think fans will be satisfied by the end of it?
Pellegrino:
I think they will be. There’s a part of me that hopes they’re not so Lucifer can come back. [Laughs] From what I’ve seen, the fans will be satisfied.

Do you think Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) will get through the showdown in one piece?

Private Practice Season 3 Finale: Shocking Death!

Private Practice – Episode 3.23 – The End of a Beautiful Friendship – Promo

Private Practice Cast Dishes on Tragic Season Finale

Source: TVGuide.com

Private Practice

Grab a few boxes of tissues, a pint of ice cream or a bottle of wine, because — according to KaDee Strickland — these are things you’ll need while watching the season finale of Private Practice. “It’s very Godfather-y,” adds Paul Adelstein. “Everything gets wrapped up. Today we settle all family business.” So what business needs to be settled? Get the scoop on the devastating season finale — which includes at least one death — straight from the cast below:

Exclusive: Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice‘s next crossover? A Shepherd reunion

Game on: “There’s a battle between Sheldon [Brian Benben] and Cooper for Charlotte’s affections,” says Adelstein who plays Cooper. “Amidst all of this craziness, Cooper sees Sheldon closing in and also feels scared in the face of what’s happening to Maya [Geffri Maya Hightower], so he goes for it.”

Who wins? “There’s every reason to believe these two can make it,” says Strickland on Charlotte and Cooper. “In real life, it’s the strangest pairings that work out best.”

Home wrecker much? “I don’t want to break up Pete [Tim Daly] and Addison [Kate Walsh],” says Amy Brenneman. “If there is breaking up, that’s not my thing. I think she’s extremely respectful and grateful.”

Private Practice exclusive: Who is getting engaged and will it stick?

Reunited and it feels so good: “There is always a possibility to reconcile friendships,” says Walsh of Addison’s estrangement from Naomi (Audra McDonald) this season. Adds McDonald: “In the stress of the moment, Naomi tries to make peace with Addison.”

Less baby drama than we thought? “Dell [Chris Lowell] helps deliver Maya’s baby,” teases Lowell.

Tragedy unites: “There’s nothing like a great tragedy to bring people together,” says Walsh of the divided practice after Violet and Pete’s custody battle. “In the end, even if they have these rivalries, they all kind of grow up in the face of tragedy.”

Private Practice: Are Addison and Sam meant to be?

Grab some Kleenex: “You better get your hankies out and you might want to get a pint of ice cream because this [finale] is going to knock you on your tail; either that or a bottle of wine. That’s Dr. Charlotte King’s prescription,” Strickland jokes about her character. Adds Brenneman: “It’ll be devastating for the audience, so if you want a bang for your buck, you’re going to get it.”

Um, ABC is renewing the show, right? “We don’t have an official pickup, but we do know when we’re starting [production] again, so figure that one out,” jokes Adelstein.

Who do you think is dying in the season finale? Check TVGuide.com on Friday morning for our exclusive interview with the departing star.

Question: All this vague “a crisis like no other” talk about the Grey’s Anatomy finale is killing me. And you don’t wanna be responsible for my death. Seattle Grace scoop, STAT.
Ausiello:
Would it qualify as putting you on life support if I got series creator Shonda Rhimes to tell you a bit about the two-hour season-ender? Let’s find out. “The theme of the first hour is sanctuary, which sort of uses the idea that the hospital is our characters’ safest place and our safest place as viewers,” she says. “[Then we use] the hour to slowly turn that on its head [so] that by the end, the hospital is definitely kind of the least safe place in the world.” Yikes! “The second hour,” she continues, “is about choices, and we get to watch our characters make big ones. Lexie chooses between Mark and Alex. Owen chooses between Teddy and Cristina. Bailey faces the hardest medical choice that a doctor has to make. And the other choice that’s being made is Callie and Arizona, and whether or not they’re going to be together or not. It IS going to come down to the baby thing.” You still with us, Andy? Hello? Bueller? Someone call 911!

Question: Please tell me we will actually get to see a Meredith story line on Grey’s Anatomy by the end of the season.
Ausiello:
Meredith is going to have a lot going on in the finale. Trust me.

Grey’s Anatomy: Will Meredith Go All Dark and Twisty Again?

Source: TV Guide

Grey’s Anatomy

After six seasons of Grey’s Anatomy (Thursdays, 9/8c on ABC), Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) finally seems happy. From exchanging Post-it vows with Derek (Patrick Dempsey) to romping in McDreamy’s office, Mer has been significantly less dark and twisty than the Dr. Grey we met on her first day at Seattle Grace.

And her happiness isn’t going to be torn away just to stir up some conflict, executive producer Shonda Rhimes says.

Grey’s exclusive: “There is absolutely hope for Cristina and Owen,” says Shonda Rhimes

“I am not trying to shake up whether or not Meredith is happy,” Rhimes says. That’s not to say Mer won’t go through some drama in the finale, which Rhimes describes as “very different” from the five previous season-enders. The first hour alone will apparently leave your jaw on the floor.

“What’s really beautiful to me about the finale is that Meredith Grey is a grown-up,” continues Rhimes. “It was a journey that I wasn’t even sure she was going to be able to make successfully. As a character, she’s really grown into being a very changed woman, which I think is fantastic.”

Exclusive: Mandy Moore to guest-star in Grey’s Anatomy finale

As for whether a McBaby is in the future, Rhimes coyly replies: “I don’t know. Anything is possible.”

Do you want to see Mer and Der have McBabies?

I’m tired of Callie and Arizona fighting on Grey’s Anatomy. Is there happiness ahead for them?
ADAM: The people behind the show are big fans of the Calzona pairing and are committed to seeing the couple through their differences over having a baby. But don’t take my word for it. “I really do feel like Callie and Arizona are made for each other,” creator Shonda Rhimes tells us. “They’re one of those couples that you adore seeing together, and when they’re in pain, you’re in pain. … So I think that there’s hope.” Source: TV Guide

This Just In: Plot of top-secret ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ finale revealed!

(Michael Ausiello)

greys-anatomy-blanketImage Credit: Ron Tom/ABCSort of. ABC just released the loglines for Grey’s Anatomy‘s two-hour finale on May 20, and, unlike the ultra spoilery synopses for Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, and Desperate Housewives that preceded it, this one leaves a lot to the imagination. That said, there is one curiously cryptic scoopbit embedded in the otherwise vague tease…

“In the first hour of the two-hour season six finale, ‘Sanctuary,’ Seattle Grace Hospital is hit with a crisis like no other in its history on Grey’s Anatomy. In the second hour of the finale, ‘Death and All His Friends,’ Cristina and Meredith’s surgical skills are put to the ultimate test.” Call me crazy, but I’m betting there’s a connection between hour 1’s “crisis” and the title of the hour 2. Thoughts?!

Question: I realize Katherine Heigl isn’t returning, but will Grey’s Anatomy find a way to give Alex closure about Izzie? Ausiello: Not on Shonda Rhimes’ watch. The boss lady tells me she has no plans to tie up the loose ends of the Alex-Izzie love story. “It’s going to linger,” she says. “And I actually feel good about it lingering because [it means] Alex is left with unfinished business. And that’s going to be very interesting for his character.”

Question: That Grey’s Anatomy teaser you posted has me worried that there will be multiple deaths in the supposedly game-changing season finale. Can you please put my mind at ease? Ausiello: I can’t. But I think Shonda Rhimes can. “The events of the finale itself change the game,” she says. “Whether anyone lives or anyone dies is not really necessarily the point of it.” Feel better? No? I gots nothin’ else.

Question: Are Callie and Arizona going to get through their baby issue on Grey’s Anatomy? Ausiello: It sounds like Shonda Rhimes wants them to, which probably bodes well. “They’re breaking my heart right now with their I want to have a baby, I don’t want to have a baby war, because I’ve actually known people who go through this and it’s never pretty,” she says. “But I like them together and I want to see them together.”

Can you tell us who the big breakup and hookup is on Grey’s Anatomy?
The breakup is, sadly, the one you’re all assuming. The hookup is Sloane and Reed, and Lexie is not going to hide her disapproval from Reed, taking little jabs at her in front of patients. Clearly, Lexie is not over Steamy. Grey’s returns this Thursday so you can start seeing it all unfold.

Grey’s Anatomy – First look at Demi Lovato

She’s been practically clawing her eyes out to meet the cast of her favorite show, and now Demi Lovato’s got her chance. When the 17-year-old Sonny With a Chance star arrived on the Grey’s Anatomy set to shoot her May 13 guest appearance, “The first two actors I met were Justin Chambers and Jessica Capshaw, and I was like, ‘There’s Karev and Arizona!’ Then I met Patrick Dempsey.” On a tour of the hospital set, she picked up a patient’s chart to pretend she was making rounds. But Demi’s not playing a new med student; she’ll be a frightened patient named Hayley, who might suffer from schizophrenia (see the claw marks in this exclusive first-look photo).

A new fan to Grey’s, Lovato began catching up on the series during breaks on the set of Camp Rock: The Final Jam, a Disney Channel TV-movie sequel airing in July, which teams her up again with real-life beau Joe Jonas. “Grey’s is a dream role for her,” says Joe, though he prefers Top Chef over medical dramas. “It’s great people are going to see her do different things. I’m really proud of her.”

The episode will also showcase just how good a doctor Karev has become. “Alex has definitely worked on his bedside manner,” says Justin, whose character will continue to get a workout between the sheets with Lexie (Chyler Leigh), now that he’s divorcing Izzie (Katherine Heigl).

Grey’s Anatomy – Spoiler Chat – E! Online – 4-19-2010

Can you give us a hint as to who breaks up and who hooks up on Grey’s Anatomy?
Well, for the split, I think it’s pretty clear from Patrick Dempsey that it’s not Meredith and Derek. And I have an exclusive interview with Kevin McKidd I’ll be posting before the next new episode (next Thursday), and it should be pretty obvious as to whether it’s Cristina and Owen. As for the hookup, I already revealed one of the parties is McSteamy, and let’s just say that Lexie is going to have some serious issues with his new, stinky little ho—and you NBC fans will get the stinky reference! The good thing is that Lexie has such a problem with this, it’s clear she still has deep feelings for Sloane, and I’d put a whole wad of money (like, literally, hundreds…of pennies!) on them getting back together at some point.

I hope Grey’s Anatomy keeps getting better as the season goes on. Will it?
Life’s going to get a little less peachy for Chief Derek when he’s forced to respond to a wrongful death suit against him. And taking a note from the Dunder Mifflin handbook, Seattle Grace is about to enroll in sensitivity training after making light of a 700-pound patient they must work on. Where’s Michael Scott and a “that’s what she said” when you need one?

Grey’s Anatomy – Latest from Ausiello – 14th April 2010

Question: Shonda Rhimes said she was done playing with the on-again/off-again relationship between Meredith and Derek on Grey’s Anatomy, but all this “game-changing” finale talk has me worried she’s going to pull them apart. What can you tell me?
Ausiello: I can tell you to relax. Better yet, Rhimes can tell you herself: “[Der-Mer] are pretty solid going into the finale,” she assures. “For once, Meredith is the mother hen in the group, as opposed to being the one who’s messed up.”

Question: Scoop on Owen/Cristina on Grey’s Anatomy? Is Teddy out of the picture for good?
Ausiello: Teddy may be the least of their problems. Word is someone else is going to complicate their already-troubled romance, and the identity of that person is…revealed in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on sale Thursday!

Desperate Housewives – An Old Baddie Returns!

Desperate Housewives is adding a new villain to Wisteria Lane. The twist? It’s an old villain!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Mark Moses is slated to reprise his role as Mary Alice’s creepy widower, Paul, on a full-time basis next season.
The character was last seen in season 3 when Mike paid him a visit in jail, where he’s serving time for murdering poor Martha Huber. After leaving Housewives, Moses joined the cast of Mad Men as Herman “Duck” Phillips.
Earlier this year, Housewives creator Marc Cherry hinted to me that he was thinking of bringing on a new vixen to succeed Nicollette Sheridan. “We hope to add a troublemaker,” he clarified, “but I’m not so sure it’ll be a woman.” Sneaky!
Thoughts? Anxious to see what trouble Paul will stir up this time around? Sound off below!

Question: Have we seen the last of Katherine on Desperate Housewives? Ausiello: For this season, yes. But if Dana Delany’s ABC pilot, Body of Evidence, fails to earn a pickup, she’ll most likely be back in the fall. “We’d love to have her back, but obviously for her sake, I hope her pilot goes,” says exec producer Bob Daily. “Marc [Cherry] has said that she has an open invitation to return next season if it doesn’t.”

Desperate Housewives – ABC Calls It Quits After 8 Seasons?

Could creator Marc Cherry be wearing thin on the “Desperate Housewives” drama? Maybe, ABC just realized that the storylines are being recycled? At any rate, Deadline.com reports that ABC is considering stepping back from its previous announcement of nine seasons to eight for the run of the show. According to the article, a couple issues are affecting ABC’s decision process:
* Cherry is already on a three-year deal with the network. If the show ends after Season 8, that would allow Cherry a year to do development on new projects. And the network really wants him to churn out another hit for them.
* The core divas Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Parker and Marcia Cross, apparently have deals through next season. ABC Studios has reportedly approached them about extending that through a Season 9, but the women haven’t committed. Could they be considering other options?
Back in 2008, ABC announced that it had a deal in place to carry “Desperate Housewives” through Season 9, instead of Season 7 as Cherry had planned.
An ABC spokesperson declined Zap2it’s request for comment.
Do you think “Desperate Housewives” should end its run with Season 8?

‘Desperate Housewives’ exclusive: Drea de Matteo to make ‘explosive’ exit in May

Source: Michael Ausiello

Drea-de-MatteoImage Credit: Ron Tom/ABC A valuable piece of real estate is about to open up along America’s most popular cul-de-sac — and I’m not referring to Dana Delany’s possible departure: Drea de Matteo is leaving Desperate Housewives in May. Series creator Marc Cherry, however, insists tabloid talk that the Emmy-winning Sopranos vet was fired because she wasn’t clicking with the cast is not true. “When I heard that stuff, I was stunned,” confesses Cherry. “We adore her. She is the sweetest gal in the world.” The reality is, de Matteoaccording to Cherry. “Part of the deal when we hired Drea ’s stint on Housewives was never intended to go beyond this season, was she was only interested in doing one season, get back to her life in New York.”” he explains. “She has a baby and is eager to It’s fair to say de Matteo won’t be terribly missed by Housewives fans, many of whom never warmed to her icy character, fugitive matriarch Angie Bolen. But Cherry believes that has less to do with the actress and more to do with the nature of her story line. “We shielded parts of her character because of the mystery,” he says. “As we build toward the end and we start undoing the many layers of [Angie], everyone will get how brilliant she is.”Cherry declined to reveal how Angie will exit Wisteria Lane (body bag? plane ticket?). Instead, he teases that the arrival in April of Torchwood’s John Barrowman as the man she has been on the run from will build to “an explosive finale,” during which “all the mysterious parts of her past will be revealed.”

Scoop: Dana Delany off ‘Desperate Housewives’?

Dana Delany is so well-regarded over at ABC that network prez Steve McPherson is inviting her to cheat on Desperate Housewives by starring in Body of Evidence, an Alphabet pilot that, if it’s picked up, would almost certainly take her away permanently from Wisteria Lane. Of course, that’s provided a deal can be made. As of now, Delany is still in talks to headline Evidence, a procedural that centers around a female medical examiner who used to work as a neurosurgeon. ABC declined to comment.
