Bones Season 7 Spoilers: Brennan & Booth Really Having a Baby

Bones Finale Post Mortem: ‘It Was Not a Dream’

[Warning: If you have yet to watch Thursday’s season finale of Bones, run — don’t walk — to the nearest emergency exit. Everyone else, onward and downward….]

Tonight’s Bones season finale solved two major mysteries that had been looming over the series in recent weeks: Yes, Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) did engage in comfort sex in last week’s episode. And yes, Deschanel’s real-life pregnancy will be incorporated into the show.

Plus, viewers got an answer to the biggest cliffhanger hanging over the entire series: After six years of will-they or won’t-they foreplay, Booth and Brennan are heading into next season as both a full-fledged couple and expectant parents. Put in TV business terms, the show’s producers not only blew off that pesky (and outdated) Moonlighting curse, but they kicked it in the groin. And we kind of love them for it.

That’s not to say, however, that we don’t still have questions. Because we do. Luckily, exec producer Stephen Nathan agreed to jump on the phone this evening for a quick post mortem and a preview of what’s to come.

TVLINE | First, please assure me that this isn’t going to be some kind of bait and switch. Brennan is really carrying Booth’s child, right?
It was not a dream. There is no alternate reality. What you see is what you get. They are having a baby. She is pregnant with his child. She [slept with] him in the previous episode and this was the outcome.

TVLINE | What impact did Emily’s pregnancy have on this story? Would you have gone this route regardless?
Emily being pregnant certainly figured into it to a certain extent. But [series creator] Hart [Hanson] and I were leaning toward this independently of that. The biggest problem we faced going into Season 7 was how to get these two people together while keeping the integrity of Brennan and Booth’s characters in tact. By going this route, we didn’t have to have them go through the traditional love-dovey stage where everything was wonderful and they understood each other and they got past their differences. That’s never going to be the case. They now are together but are essentially the same exact characters. They’re going to disagree on everything they disagreed about before, including how to approach their lives together, religion, family and now how to approach having a child. So we lose nothing but gain a huge amount with the reality that they are now together sharing the biggest thing in their lives.

TVLINE | So this isn’t just two co-workers having a baby together after a one-night stand. This is a full-fledged couple starting a family?
They are as much of a full-fledged couple as two unique and difficult people can be. Brennan is not a fan of marriage. Booth is somebody who’s always wanted to get married. These issues still remain. The tension that has existed in their relationship up to this point will continue. They’re now sharing something and they’re committed to each other in a way they always wanted and there’s no way to avoid that. They have to deal with the reality that they’ve gotten what they secretly wished for.

TVLINE | Will they move in together?
That will be addressed in Season 7. When we open in Season 7, it’s not Ozzie and Harriet. It’s not a perfect little domestic family situation. They haven’t figured out where they’re living, how they’re living and what their future is. They just know that they’re together.

TVLINE | How much time will have passed?
That’s something we’re still deciding. We will probably pick up a couple of months down the line.

TVLINE | This is a very unconventional path to take. I mean, these two haven’t been on a real date together and now they’re having a baby.
The reality is, Booth has been with Brennan more than he ever was with [a real girlfriend like] Hannah. Which is always the case when people work together in a high-pressure job. [By making Brennan pregnant] we avoid all of the [trappings] that people commonly associate with the Moonlighting curse, which is, “Oh, now they have to date,” or “Oh, now they have to hug each other and kiss and share desserts.” They never have to share dessert. [Laughs]

TVLINE | When you and Hart concocted this story, did you go to Emily and tell her that if she’s ever thinking of having a baby with husband David Hornsby now would be the time?
[Laughs] Not really. Because we still have the [prosthetic baby bump] that we used on Angela. We already bought that. We could easily re-use it.

TVLINE | How did Emily and David react when you told them this was the direction you were going in?
They were very, very happy. It allowed them to take a big step forward as actors with their characters. And it allows us to keep them precisely who they’ve been for the past six years, and yet move them forward without getting into the stuff where you kind of go, “Eww, now they like each other; there’s no point in watching the show.” Nobody really wants that happy domesticity. And I can’t foresee that ever happening with the two of them. Their feelings for each other are clear. Everybody’s known it for years, even though Booth and Brennan haven’t always copped to it.

TVLINE | Any concern about embarking on another season-long baby story on the heels of the Angela-Hodgins pregnancy plot?
We did have thoughts about that. But then we realized it can be an advantage, because this is really what happens to most people. Friends have a baby, and then they have a baby, and then you hear from the friends about how they raised the baby, then you want to kill those friends because now they’re know-it-alls. So the idea of them sharing the experience of having a baby could actually help the show, because they are not going to raise their children in the same way. And then we’ll also have other characters weighing in on it. We have Max around, who we think would probably be a very good nanny. [Laughs]

TVLINE | You pointed out that Brennan isn’t the marrying kind. Are you ruling out a Booth and Brennan wedding?
No. Not at all. That will be addressed and not resolved in the season premiere.

TVLINE | Did Fox freak out about this storyline?
As a matter of fact, no. They were fabulous. They were great. Everybody realized the [challenge] of getting them together. And we had to do it in a way that hadn’t been done before. And I do want to say that Bones is still going to be Bones. There are still going to be dead bodies and revolting remains. And [Booth and Brennan] are still going to be solving crimes. It’s not going to turn into a soap. They’re [personal] lives will be ongoing and we will focus on that, but we’re still a crime-odey.

The Mentalist Season 4 Spoilers: Patrick Jane on Trial

Spoiler Alert: Simon Baker Talks About The Mentalist‘s Shocking Season Finale

Simon Baker, The Mentalist

Did CBS cancel The Mentalist and forget to tell us? The smash-hit crime drama just wrapped its third season with Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) shooting and killing serial slayer Red John (Bradley Whitford) in the crowded food court of a shopping mall. But wasn’t Jane’s vengeful pursuit of Red John his raison d’être and the very point of this series? How could the plot wrap up so soon? Then again, did Jane kill the real Red John? Whether he did or he didn’t, he’s in deep doo-doo. “Patrick has just murdered a man in cold blood in front of hundreds of people and next season he will be tried in court,” creator Bruno Heller tells us. “We won’t dodge any issues. Patrick won’t wake up and discover it was all a dream. There will be consequences.” TV Guide Magazine spoke with Baker to get his take on the daring cliffhanger and where his show is headed from here. Will that impish little devil Patrick Jane ever be able to charm us again?

TV Guide Magazine: Those who follow The Mentalist might well be shocked by what Jane has done, but they can’t claim to be surprised, right?
Baker:
Exactly! My character has always said, very coldly and matter-of-factly, that he would kill Red John if he ever got the chance. That was always his modus. And he’s told that to Agent Lisbon [Robin Tunney] many times. Of course there will be repercussions, but Patrick clearly doesn’t give a damn about that.

TV Guide Magazine: How will this murder change him? Is this closure? Can he get on with his life now, even if that life is spent in prison?
Baker:
I think he feels great about finally getting revenge. But you never know. This could be the false bottom to the suitcase. Maybe this isn’t the bottom.

TV Guide Magazine: Meaning what? That Jane killed the wrong man? He certainly thought he had the right guy once Red John described how Jane’s wife and daughter smelled at the time of their murders — the exact soaps and shampoos they used. But, theoretically, the real Red John could have passed that information to Bradley Whitford’s character, no?
Baker:
There’s a lot to play around with. I think it was a brilliant choice to have the murder happen in such a public place. Bang! Bang! Bang! Then Jane’s totally calm. People are running around in a panic. Jane just sits down and has his cup of tea. It’s done. He’s finally done what he needed to do. After this season, you’re going to have the lead character on a network TV series being a cold-blooded, vengeance-killing murderer. That’s heavy.

TV Guide Magazine: He certainly can’t claim to have killed in self defense.
Baker:
And how do you get around that? There are too many witnesses who saw him go after Red John. I had some issues with the way the killing was originally written, which had Red John getting up and walking away and my character shooting him in the back three times. That wouldn’t have been fulfilling enough for Jane. The whole idea of vengeance is the fulfillment factor! Patrick had already said in a really powerful scene in Season 1, “When I find him I’m going to cut him open and watch him die.” A big part of the show — and the fan speculation — has always been whether or not Patrick really has what it takes to carry out that threat. Does he actually have it in him? So we played around with the scene. My idea was that Red John talks about how the wife and child smelled and it just cripples Jane. You see him go from this guy who’s this close to having his vengeance, having his closure, and he just crumbles into a bit of a paralyzed mess. Then Red John walks away. Jane says, “Please, wait.” Almost like he needs to hear more detail. I’ve always played the murders as still being so raw, so present, despite Jane’s bravado. I like the perverseness of him needing to hear more, as macabre as it is. So Jane goes up to him and looks like he’s shattered, then when he gets this close to Red John, the need for cold revenge kicks in. And he’s thinking, “Not only am I going to kill you, I am going to mind f–k you at the same time.” I wanted the audience to still think in that moment that, despite all Jane’s talk, he just can’t kill Red John. But then he does! It’s very operatic. Bruno loved the idea.

TV Guide Magazine: You two seem to have a remarkably close, almost symbiotic relationship. A lot of exec producers in town would freak if an actor wanted this level of creative involvement.
Baker:
Believe me, I know! [Laughs] I get such profound satisfaction working with Bruno, because he understands me and I understand him. It’s really pure luck we found each other. It’s very rare. I can be a real pain in the ass with the wrong types of people. The last thing I want to do is come to work each day and not be challenged. What’s the fun in taking it easy? Let’s push it! I’m very happy that Bruno and I have been able to juggle the procedural and the serialized aspects of the show without swinging too much either way. Bruno appreciates the genesis of the Patrick Jane character, what drives him, and that he comes from a very tragic place. And you can’t fluff it off. You have to honor that. That hasn’t been easy because sometimes there’s been a lot of pressure from CBS to avoid the dark stuff, because the lighter stuff is so much easier to swallow. But without the dark, the light isn’t as enjoyable. The light can’t exist without the dark.

TV Guide Magazine: William Blake!
Baker:
Exactly! One hundred percent.

TV Guide Magazine: Word is, CBS has been a bit uneasy with this finale.
Baker:
There have been so many little arm wrestles to get this stuff through, but in the end I think we have the confidence and the support of the studio and the network. With Bruno and me there has been a lot of, “We can do this! We can get away with this!” Because this isn’t cable where you can do what you please. In network TV, you have to present the box before you can step outside it. CBS has always wanted the fun procedural stuff, and that remains a big element of The Mentalist. But this show has a lot of different personalities. I think there’s a sense with the network that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And I understand that because you can make some really bad mistakes that way. But we have to keep this show moving. I don’t ever want to mess up the experience for the audience. I want them to enjoy the show as much as they do, from the first episode to the very last. I don’t want to screw up that relationship at all. But at the same time, living and breathing this show every day, I have to challenge Bruno and he has to challenge me. In a way it’s so much easier to be subversive in cable: “Oh, look at us! We’re wacky! We’re daring! We say ‘f—k; a lot!” When you’re on a network, you have to slide the subversive in the back door. And you don’t have to be depressing in order to have gravity. A few episodes back we had Jane help the coroner kill himself. The guy had a terminal disease and the viewers were really touched and involved in that story. But it was all so subtle, I’m not sure they really realized what Patrick had done. And now we’ve moved on to total cold-blood vengeance. [Laughs] I know how this is going to play out. Trust me, this is a great setup for next season!

Glee Season 2 Spoilers!

Glee – Summer Promo

Glee – John Stamos to guest star

When you’re watching tonight’s season finale of Glee, and Emma mentions that she’s been dating her dentist, go ahead and draw yourself a mental picture of… John Stamos!
Yup, I hear the Fox hit and the actor formerly known as Uncle Jesse are nearing a deal for him to recur next season as Will’s competition for the cutest neurotic at McKinley High.
And if the agreement gets made, bet on a sing-off between her two suitors: Though Stamos is best known for his TV roles, he’s also got street cred on Broadway, having appeared in such musicals as Bye Bye Birdie.

Glee – Matt Lucas to Guest?

English tabloid the Sun is reporting that Matt Lucas is set to Guest on Glee. Take with a pinch of salt as the Sun is not the most reliable of sources.
MATT LUCAS has been a giant baby, a teenage chav and a gay-hating gay, so a part in Glee will be nae bother.
He’s landed the role of a muddled Brit teacher with a secret love for musicals in the hit US TV show. A solo song is being lined up too.
But he might be entering a war zone, cast members locked in to long-term contracts are less than happy at missing out on the hit show’s mega profits.
The Little Britain star has a hectic year ahead. He’ll have to fit his Glee stint around filming new BBC series Come Fly With Me with pal DAVID WALLIAMS.

Glee – Renewed For 3rd Season

In a huge vote of confidence for the zeitgeist-cracking drama, Fox has ordered a third season of Glee from Ryan Murphy Television and 20th Century Fox TV, EW has learned exclusively.

Season-to-date, Glee is the No. 1 new scripted series among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, and has averaged 9.4 million total viewers. During its spring telecasts, the musical dramedy, starring Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, and Lea Michele, averaged a 5.6/14 among 18-49 and 13.3 million viewers. It wraps its first season on Tuesday, June 8. “In just one year, Glee has transcended the television landscape and emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon,” said Peter Rice, the Fox Networks Group Entertainment Chairman, in a statement.

Added Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly, “Everything about Glee – from the concept to the characters to the marketing – has been innovative and risky, but with [series creator] Ryan Murphy tapping into the zeitgeist, the risk has paid off with this truly remarkable series. Glee has one of the most active, devoted fan bases I’ve ever seen, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to give Gleeks a third season of their favorite show.”

Murphy also released the following statement: “It’s been a whirlwind year – from shooting the pilot to performing at the White House to the concert tour that began last week – and yet we all feel like we’ve just begun this amazing musical journey. We think our Gleeks worldwide are going to love what we’ll have in store for them in seasons two and three.”

Along with the positive message it sends about the network’s commitment to the show, there are numerous financial benefits to giving a series like Glee a two-year pickup. Not only does it help cut production costs over the long haul, it allows Murphy and his writers a chance to plan ahead (if not breathe a much-needed sigh of relief). Most important, it gives the studio a head start in taking the episodes out into the syndication marketplace. Promising new dramas like NCIS: LA and The Mentalist, for example, sold in syndication in their first and second years, respectively.

In the next original episode, airing on May 25, Glee will feature the music of Lady Gaga when Will (Morrison) encourages the glee club members to express themselves using the pop superstar’s music. Meanwhile, Rachel (Michele) has a life-changing encounter, and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) embraces her inner goth.

The second season of Glee, which has already earned a Peabody, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild award, will kick off this fall on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

Glee – Guess Who Just Had A Baby?

Ladies and gentle-Gleeks, Baby Drizzle has been born!

You superfans know “Drizzle” is the offspring of Puck (Mark Salling) and Quinn (Dianna Agron), and as boss Ryan Murphy promised, we will see the birth this season.

“I gave birth today, so I went with the braids,” Dianna told me last night at a Glee event I moderated at the TV Academy. “It was messy.” Here’s the scoop you fans need to know:

“I was giving birth to my baby today,” Dianna teased to the fans during our Q&A at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. “They put a real baby on me today and it was so sweet. And I didn’t want them to take it away.”

The long-awaited birth scene will go down in Glee’s season-one finale on June 8. And P.S., no one has been waiting longer than Dianna, who’s been rocking that bump while shooting for nearly two years now. “Our choreographer can’t wait for me to get rid of the bump,” Dianna admitted. “It’s the running joke throughout all the dance scenes. ‘Would a pregnant woman be doing this?’ And I’ll say, ‘Yes, she needs to stay fit!’ ”

Executive producer Brad Falchuk insists the birth scene will blow you away. “Dianna was brilliant today. Truly. I’m surprised she’s awake and up right now. She was unbelievable today. Wait until you see the scene, because I was convinced I was going to see a baby come out of there.” Ew. And awwwww.

So what does this all mean for Quinn and baby daddy Puck? Mark Salling says Puck “wants to step up,” but we have to tune in to see whether he does or not. Fair enough.

Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) starts falling for Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison), and we see the inside of her house, which is wall to wall trophies. “It’s like hoarders with trophies,” Ryan Murphy jokes.

Despite recent reports, Murphy said he’s not sure yet if there will be a second Madonna episode. However, they’re hopeful. “She loved the first one, and her people called us and said, ‘You know we have other songs.'” Ya don’t say. Note to self: Gotta check out this hot up-and-coming artist!

Cory Monteith (Finn) thinks Rachel and Finn are the core relationship and that they “will go the distance.” He also admitted that so many of you fans are right: He will be singing Rick Springfield’s “Jesse’s Girl.” And that can only mean bad things for Jesse (Jonathan Groff) and Rachel (Lea Michele).

Kevin McHale on Artie and Tina: “I root for them because they’re awkward.”

According to Murphy, Coldplay said no in the beginning to their music being used on Glee, but in the past two weeks they called and said, “We were wrong…” Suckas!

Glee – Boss Dishes on Show’s “Core” Couple

Pucksters, you might want to go ahead and cover your eyes for just a tick while we deliver some news that’s guaranteed to make you douse your own face in delectable blue slushie:

“The Finn-Rachel relationship is obviously a core of the show,” says executive producer Brad Falchuck—dun, dun, dun!

Now that that’s finished (well, sorta), we actually have some spoilery goodness from Brad himself on all fronts, including Puckleberry love, Finchel romance and everyone else who’s getting in the way…

Finchel: If you’re a fan of the goofy jock and diva gal love story, you’ll love this, because it looks like together or apart, these two are in it for the long haul.

“We always are going to explore that relationship in many different ways,” Brad tells us. “It’s going to be a push and pull in that sometimes it’s going to be him going after her and sometimes it’s going to be her going after him, and they’re always going to be watching each other from afar.”

As if the point that these two are total soul mates isn’t clear yet, Brad says: “No matter what’s going on in their lives, they’ll always have one eye on the other one. So we’ll see a bunch of that.”

If by “what’s going on in their lives” he means one new New Directioner, Jesse St. James (swoonworthy Jonathan Groff), and that V-card stealing Santana (was anyone else shocked last night?!), then yeah, there’s a lot going on. We’re not worried, though. Just temporary setbacks that actually gave us something—Glee’s blush-inducing “Like a Virgin” number, which was way sex-ay, no?

Oh, and by the season’s end, Finchel might just be back in each other’s arms. “By episode 22 of the back 9, we’ll reach a really temporary conclusion to Finn and Rachel…They both secretly, and not so secretly, sometimes love each other.”

And anti-Puck peeps of the world shout, “Booyah!”

Puckleberry: Still, the Powers That Be over at Glee are fully aware they struck gold when hooking Rachel up with bad boy Puck. And trust us, these two will be together again.

“Every good girl likes a bad boy, and there’s nobody more good than Rachel and nobody no more bad than Puck,” Brad says with a laugh. “We’ll continue to explore it. It’s high school! Everybody is always bouncing around to everybody.” Whoo-hoo! But does this mean Kurt will finally get his dream date with Finn?! Ummm, we think not.

We do know that Puck will venture a bit on the skanky side—hookups with say, every chick on Glee including Mercedes, say the big bosses!—so don’t expect anything too serious headed his way.

Still, Puck has plenty going on to occupy his time including that supersad storyline we hinted at a few weeks back and a to-die-for musical number up ahead.

“Mark [Salling] has a lot of very focused stories in the back nine, and so yes, he’ll have plenty of moments,” Brad teases, including a Rat-Pack-tastic number. “If you haven’t fallen in love with him yet, after that one, good Lord.” Fan-freaking-tastic!

Any new Finchel or Puckleberry converts in the hizouse? Who’s on Team Santana? Get your Gleek on in the comments below and let us know how you feel about this coupley news, then tune into Glee Tuesdays on Fox.

Glee – Heather Morris Interview

How did you hear?
[Creator] Ryan [Murphy] said, ‘I really want to try and make you a cast regular. I know it might be a stretch but we’ll see what Fox says. And so I got a call from my agent. But we haven’t signed our contracts yet.

As the two of you were getting even more screen time than some of the regulars, it was getting confusing why you and Naya weren’t on the posters or on the main stage with the rest of your cast on Oprah.
Yeah. It was kind of weird for us too, but I figured that might happen since we weren’t main cast yet. But it didn’t hurt my feelings. Whatever. I can’t complain about one thing and my time will come.

How will you and Naya celebrate?
We’re probably going to have a weekend to ourselves in Santa Barbara.

More and more it seems like the show is implying that there’s something sexy going on between Santana and Brit. What’s the deal?
(Laughs) I get asked this over and over again, so I asked Ryan what really happened. He said, ‘It’s just a joke we like to tease, but our show isn’t like that really.’ We decided Brittany just loves everything and is exploring.

Now that you are a regular, what do you might hope for Brittany in season two?
You’re going to see her hang out with Kurt a little bit. And I’m a dancer, so I would love to showcase my dancing abilities and sing more. I told them I think it would be funny if she ruins Glee club somehow by maybe dancing with Vocal Adrenaline because they’re such great dancers.

When the cast and producers gathered for a panel discussion at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, I picked up these other Glee scoops:

Though she won’t be touring with the young cast, Jane Lynch is making sure Sue Sylvester’s dark presence will be felt at the four-city Glee Live In Concert tour, kicking off May 18 in Phoenix. Jane tells me a video-taped “welcome” message will find the nasty Cheerios coach telling the sold-out auditoriums: “Why did you waste your money and time coming here to watch these little snot faucets?”

The first season wrapped production on April 26 with Dianna Agron shooting the emotional delivery of Quinn’s baby. Producer Brad Falchuk said he was so impressed by Dianna’s performance that he expected an actual baby to come out!

Jessalyn Gilsig tells me that despite what some might wish, her nasty character, Terri Schuester, will indeed be back to cause more trouble in season two. “Ryan’s told me a little bit about next season, and I’m very excited about it,” says Jessalyn. Unfortunately, upcoming scenes she shot revealing Terri in the arms of a new lover, have ended up on the cutting room floor due to time constraints. “The storyline got pushed to next year.”

An upcoming episode will reveal the inside of Sue Sylvester’s home, which is wall-to-wall trophies. Producer Ryan Murphy calls the set “sad” and indicative that Sue really has no life outside her career.

Glee – Episode 1.16 – Home – 2 Sneak Peeks

Glee takes a serious turn following this week’s Madge-tastic episode, in “Home.” Look for some major body-image issues from Mercedes, the revelation of why Sue Sylvester is such a raging be-yotch (she hasn’t eaten in decades!) and an intervention from an unlikely friend. Guesses? Also, that parental hookup we’ve been hearing so much about finally happens. And we have to say that we’re loving Mike O’Malley even more as Kurt’s dad. “It’s like a diabolical Parent Trap if you will,” Chris Colfer tells us of Finn’s mom and Kurt’s pops. “It’s more clever than Parent Trap actually because we are creating love that was never there.”

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU,” THE NEW ORIGINAL SERIES BY ABC FAMILY, LAUNCHES THIS SUMMER ON TUESDAY, JULY 7 AT 8:00PM ET/PT

Series to be Directed by Gil Junger (Who Also Directed the 1999 Hit Film)

Larry Miller to Reprise His Role as the Father of the Stratford Sisters, Portrayed by Lindsey Shaw and Meaghan Martin

Ethan Peck (Gregory Peck’s Grandson) Takes on the Role of Patrick Verona, Originated by Heath Ledger in 1999 Film

ABC Family premieres its new original series, “10 Things I Hate About You,” a half-hour, single-cam series inspired by the 1999 hit movie of the same name, on Tuesday, July 7 (8:00 – 8:30 p.m. ET/PT). Gill Junger, who directed the movie, will be at the helm of the ABC Family series through its first several episodes, and the weekly series will be executive-produced by Carter Covington (“Greek”). Larry Miller will also reprise his role as Walter Stratford, the over-protective father to the Stratford sisters — Kat, a feminist with a razor-sharp tongue, portrayed by Lindsey Shaw (“Aliens in America”), and Bianca, a girl with a plan to climb the social ladder at her new school, portrayed by Meaghan Martin (“Camp Rock”). Ethan Peck (“Adopt a Sailor”) takes on the role of resident bad boy Patrick Verona (originated by Heath Ledger in the 1999 film). Peck is the grandson of the legendary Gregory Peck. Nicholas Braun (“Princess Protection Program”) will portray Cameron James, Padua High’s “nice guy,” and Dana Davis (“Heroes”) will portray head cheerleader Chastity Church.

“As huge fans of the ’10 Things I Hate About You’ film, it was very important to us that this new series carry on its spirit, and at the same time introduce new stories and characters that will resonate with the movie’s fans and our Millennial audience,” said Kate Juergens, EVP, Original Programming and Development, ABC Family. “With director Gil Junger helming the series and Larry Miller back as the father to the Stratford girls, the film’s unique charm is alive and well.”

The half-hour series will center on the Stratford sisters, Kat and Bianca, as they start at their new high school with very contradictory goals. Kat is a strong-willed, in-your-face feminist who is looking to save the world and get out of high school as fast as she can. Bianca is a social butterfly whose only concern is that she be popular, at any cost. As they both start out on a bumpy year at Padua High, can the girls find what it is they want navigating the popular crowd, boys and their over-protective Dad?

New Gossip Girl Spoilers: Dan & the Hot New Teacher!

Blake Lively, Penn Badgley

Meow! Don’t tell Serena, but it looks like Gossip Girl‘s Dan Humphrey is getting a cougar for Christmas.

The good news? She’s really only 25.

The badass news? She’ll be digging her claws into Blair.

Any hope for Dan and Serena on Gossip Girl? I cannot stand her new beau, Aaron.
That makes three of us! Here’s hoping Santa gives him an Epilady for Christmas to tackle those three chin hairs, ’cause that would enhance my Gossip Girl viewing experience greatly . Regardless, it looks like Dan and Serena will not be rekindling any flames Penn Badgley, Laura Breckenridgeany time soon because I’m hearing from reliable sources that Dan is getting a new love interest. Laura Breckenridge, whom you may remember as the youngest sister (Rose) from Related, is playing that hot new teacher I told you about a few weeks back, and I’m hearing she’ll be sparring with Blair and getting romantic with Dan Humphrey. Gossip Girl writers, you know we love you. XOXO

Yes, inside sources tell me exclusively that Dan (Penn Badgley) is getting a new love interest of a more mature (and scandalous) nature.

Pushing Daisies Episode Recap

Ned

Pushing Daisies proves yet again why this show is so magical. Putting aside the fact that it took place almost entirely at a magic show, the character development alone was enough to be put anyone under its spell.

Ned used to love his dad’s magic tricks. That is, until he made himself disappear and never came back. Even though it wasn’t their fault, Ned always resented his long-lost half brothers for taking his father away. Now that they’re reunited as a family, Ned has to put aside his hatred for all things magic. Maurice and Ralston are illusionists and want their big bro and his friends to come see their double act and The Conjurer’s Castle. The main act is The Great Herrmonn (played by Fred Willard), who seems to have a problem keeping his assistants alive.

Herrmonn recruits Emerson to help solve the mystery, but it turns out to be more than Emerson bargained for. The “assistants” are actually animals—doves, a bunny, and a monkey. Pet detectives get paid big bucks, according to Emerson, but Herrmonn coughs it up with great fanfare. And this week’s case is off to a running start! Ned pulls Herrmonn aside to ask about his relationship with the twins. It turns out that their father abandoned the boys at one of his shows, and the twins were instantly enamored with magic. He thinks they were trying to hold on to their father’s memory….. Continue reading »

Ghost Whisperer Episode Recap: “Threshold”

‘Ghost Whisperer’: No, he’s really dead

Zap2it.com

Since it happened last week, I’m not counting this as a spoiler: yes, Jim is indeed dead. He is no more! He has ceased to be! He’s expired… but not quite gone to meet his maker.  Ah, yes, therein lies our episode of Ghost Whisperer tonight. For years, we’ve watched Melinda work to cross ghosts over. It’s her way in the world – find a ghost, cross it over. But what if the ghost is her soulmate, and he has no intention of going anywhere?

Jim is indeed dead. We open on him in the afterlife, greeting his big brother Dan, who tells him he’s been waiting for hours – or years, who knows – at the families’ favorite fishing hole. Dan wants to cross over with him to meet their father together, but Jim doesn’t want to follow him into the light. He only wants to see Melinda again, and he refuses to leave her. Behind the fishing dock is their living room…

Jim returns to their house, haunted by visions of he and Melinda at their wedding, his own death, and then ending with Melinda in their kitchen with Delia. Melinda says she hasn’t seen Jim for two days, even though Jim is right there. Another spirit appears, a young woman in a bathrobe, and Melinda isn’t able to see her either. The spirit throws an apple and disappears.

The next morning, Jim’s mom arrives at the house. Jim touches her face, and she breaks down in tears. The fishing hole appears again, out of nowhere, nice ghostly moving between time and space, very Beetlejuice, and Dan tells him again that it’s time for Jim to pass on. He also tells Jim that Melinda’s grief is so strong, it’s blocking her gift; the veil between her and the dead is strengthened by her personal emotion. Dan tells him that if he doesn’t cross over soon, there won’t be a choice, and that Dan won’t be able to wait much longer.

Back to Melinda, who is speaking out loud to Jim. Jim tries to answer, and give her a sign, but he’s unable to do anything. However, the other spirit is able. She begins to destroy all of the crystal in the china cabinet while Jim looks on. The spirit throws a fork, yelling “I would if I could,” narrowly missing Melinda’s head. She mistakenly thinks it’s Jim, who desperately tries to get her to hear him.

The next day, at the funeral home, Jim watches his friends gather (and remarks “nice turnout”.) Tim, Jim’s old friend, gets up to deliver the eulogy, and starts out by saying he was going to talk about the loss of Jim, but instead, all he can think of is what they all gained by having Jim in their lives. He then puts on “Good Lovin'” by The Young Rascals.  No, seriously. And everyone gets up and dances. While it could have been a touching moment, they could have chosen a true “rockin’ song,” a song from after Jim was born, but whatever. It’s touching. Yadda yadda.

During the ensuing dance party, Melinda finds a moment of joy, and then can see Jim.

That night, Melinda tells him that he has to cross over. Jim says that he doesn’t want to, and that he thinks it may be better if he stays. Melinda tells him that it’s part of her gift, to help him cross over, no matter what. He also tells her that she has another ghost haunting her. Later, Jim’s mom heads home, and she tells Melinda that she feels lighter, and happier, no matter how she should feel. Jim tells Melinda to say that he wants everyone to be happy, and with that, and a hug, she leaves. Jim then sees angry bathrobe spirit again, and jumping through space and time (cool spirit trick, that) follows her back to a room where she is yelling at an unknown man. He returns home to Melinda.

Melinda tells Jim again that he needs to cross over, that it’s not right. Jim tells her that being together in this new way has to be better than never seeing each other again – and Melinda says that while she’d like nothing more than to stay in the house with him forever, it’s not meant to be. It’s their “fork in the road” until they meet again. Jim refuses, saying that his road is with her, and he can’t let it go just because he’s dead. Melinda tells him she doesn’t want him coming around anymore, and that if he really does love her, he’d cross over, and save her the constant pain.

After leaving Jim, Melinda then sees the other spirit, who insists that she has to help “him” and then rips out a chunk of her own hair. Off duty from spirit-helping or not, that’ll get you noticed.

Jim then heads to Eli’s and has a little ghostly fun waking him up. Jim tells Eli that Melinda has all but thrown him out in order to get him to cross over, but he’s worried for her safety with the other ghost hanging around. He says that until she’s out of the picture, he isn’t crossing over. And all Eli needs to do Jenniferlovehewitt_ghostwhisperer_cis help Melinda out.

Eli tries to convince Melinda to understand Jim’s point of view, and he says he just wants to help her, and help the ghost too. Melinda then says that she can’t do it – she wants nothing to do with ghosts, period.

Meanwhile, back at the fishing hole, Dan tries yet again to get Jim to understand what’s happening, and he says he’s crossing over without him. Jim again refuses, even after seeing his father in the light. Dan, however, crosses over, leaving Jim in the lonely dark.

The bathrobe spirit isn’t leaving Melinda alone, and she’s becoming more insistent. Melinda, even through her own grief, asks her what has happened, and the spirit says that she hurt her stepdad, and that she, in some way, is the reason for Jim’s death. Melinda heads to Eli for help, and he breaks down the ghost’s appearance pointing to anorexia. While Eli tries to get information at the hospital, Jim appears and helps Eli with the spying. Handy ghosting again. When the nurse looks up recent deaths from anorexia, Jim reads the names, finding a Caitlin Mahoney. While he’s there, Jim watches a man die, and head into the light. He then touches the body briefly, and trembles when the hand briefly reanimates. Creepy.

At the same time, Eli and Melinda head to one of the addresses Jim got off the computer, and Melinda sees a man. Without us seeing him, Melinda approaches him and says “remember me?” That night, Melinda asks Jim to come back, and Melinda tells him all about Caitlin, and who her stepdad is. He’s one of Jim’s policeman friends, Carl Neely, the detective who shot Jim. He returned to work after Caitlin’s death to work through his own grief.  In truth, he shouldn’t have been back on the job yet.

Melinda tells Carl that she doesn’t blame him for Jim’s death, and that Caitlin is watching him, and wants him to be ok. When Melinda tries to explain Caitlin’s point of view to Carl, she ends up telling Jim how their love was real, and that their kind of love never goes away, but just becomes stronger. Jim tells Carl that he doesn’t blame him either. Caitlin heads into the light, and before she goes, she tries to get Jim to go too. He tells her “not quite yet.”

After Melinda leaves, Jim appears to her in her car as she’s stuck in traffic at the scene of an accident. She tells him he needs to do the right thing, and he replies, “I know.” He looks out onto the accident and disappears. Melinda chases him into the people surrounding the accident, and after a spirit leaves one of the victims, Jim jumps into the body. Melinda yells “Jim, you’re back!” only to have The Body/Jim reply “do I know you?” Well, that’ll make things more difficult from this point on for the soulmates.

Thoughts and musings:

Well, I don’t really have any specific glib thoughts. I’m weirded out by this whole thing. The writers and producers swear up and down that David Conrad isn’t going anywhere, but this is what we get? The teaser implied that Melinda gets a second chance with The Body/Jim from this point on, but I can’t see that working out. Doesn’t that too go against Melinda’s nature? Is this how she’s going to have a baby, and if so, eww? I agree that this twist will indeed make for some meatier plot lines for David Conrad and Jennifer Love Hewitt, but I can’t help but think the shark is circling the waters for Ghost Whisperer. Le sigh.

Seriously. “Good Lovin'”?

New citizen Ignacio prepares to vote for the first time while Hilda takes advantage of the increased election traffic to promote her shop, and Wilhelmina wants to hire a new financial officer (guest star Grant Bowler) whom Daniel can’t stand.

Victoria’s Secret model will appear in this episode, posing for Mode’s “sizzling hot issue”. She will also work with Betty on the cover story that discusses the use of fictional fruit called “tico berry” to boost one’s sexiness. “Karate Kid” actor Ralph Macchio also makes a cameo, playing as a customer at Hilda’s shop.

On related news, E! reported that Lindsay was booted off the show and that the producers “don’t plan to have her back for more episodes.” The actress reportedly was more interested in playing herself, thus more episodes where she supposed to be in have been cut and rewritten.

However, producers of the show has released a statement regarding this saying, “Lindsay wrapped up her arc, and she’s done filming. She did a great job, and we enjoyed having her. Viewers can look forward to her episodes tonight and next week.”
