“Ghost Whisperer Season/Series Finale Recap: 5.22 “The Children’s Parade”

‘Ghost Whisperer’ – ‘The Children’s Parade’ Recap (Series Finale)

Ghost Whisperer(S05E22) “Melinda is not here.” – Melinda to Delia

The fact I had to write “series finale” in the title of this post is scarier than the series finale itself. This season has been one of the darkest for the show and the bad guys of the season, the Shadows, seemed to be the ultimate evil. Therefore, I expected a rather dark episode that would contain one hell of a showdown to send the Shadows away.

Instead, we were treated to a way too quick and far from epic face off between the Shinies and the Shadows. What a let down! The upside of the episode? We got closure, which I didn’t expect since I thought the series Powers That Be learned too late that the show was getting canceled.

The “Melinda is not here” line we’ve seen in the teasers had me expect an action packed episode. Yes, there was action but it fell flat due to how quickly the Shinies destroyed the Shadows. The latter have been a great foe all season long. Even in this week’s episode, they showed how powerful and twisted they are when they took charge of Eli but, more importantly, of Melinda. “Melinda is not here” was scary, no?

I didn’t except the Shinies, children who crossed over, to use force and weapons to battle off the Shadows. After all, the Shinies are peaceful children. However, I expected the Shadows, who are extremely powerful evils, to fight back at least for a minute or two even if they were outnumbered. The Shadows have been fierce and twisted all season and never backed down, why now? Instead, the Shadows were quickly destroyed in thousand of pieces and went away. The End.

Another tiny letdown was that Bedford was nowhere to be seen. The Shadows used him to do their evil doings for months and now that they have to face off their sworn enemies he is not there? It would have been nice to get a quick shootout to know that Bedford was alright in the end. Maybe have him be in the town square watching the faceoff and, when the Shadows were destroyed, have him see the light and cross over to join his mother.

That said, there are some things I enjoyed about this finale. First is the fact that Aiden didn’t let go of his gift even if Melinda and Jim tried to convince him that ghosts did not exist. As Melinda and Jim told him at the end, Aiden’s gift makes him special and should be respected and used to do good. Secondly, Jim, Melinda and Aiden have a happy ending where they bond together and agree to support one another and not keep their gifts a secret to them. Together, they’ll be quite the team to help souls cross over. Of course, they will not be alone as Delia, Ned and Eli will surely still be around to help.

When CBS announced earlier this week that it was canceling the series, I expected the series finale to be filled with cliffhangers since it had been shot weeks ago with no time to wrap things up properly. I was pleasantly surprised that we got a happy ending and no cliffhangers. It does look like the shows’ Powers That Be sensed that they may get canceled and decided to offer fans some closure. Thank you.

‘Ghost Whisperer’s’ fans, there is still hope that our favorite ghostly show will not have to cross over as ABC is pondering picking up the series. If ABC decides not to pick it up, at least we got closure and all the characters are alive and well.

CBS Cancels Ghost Whisperer:

CBS is going to have some open slots next season after all.

In an year when some insiders speculated that CBS would only lose a couple shows, the network just canceled four dramas (including three veterans) and two comedies.

Season-3-ep18-ghost-whisperer-1455578-450-300

Crime procedurals “Cold Case,” “Ghost Whisperer” and “Numbers” will not be renewed for next season. Jerry Bruckheimer’ s drama “Miami Medical” is likewise canceled, as is fellow freshman “Accidentally on Purpose,” which mainly aired in the network’s Monday night comedy block. Veteran Wednesday night comedies “New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Gary Unmarried” are also cancelled.

Several of these titles could have easily returned and, indeed, were expected to return. The harsh verdicts will signal to ad buyers that TV’s “most-watched network” is not being complacent and that executives have faith in their new shows, though will doubtless disappoint some fans.

Also, the network picked up “Medium” and “Rules of Engagement” for next season, as expected.

With the CBS’ upfront on Wednesday, the network suddenly has launched into a flurry of bubble show decision making.

The most surprising outcome here is canceling “Ghost Whisperer,” which many insiders expected to return and consistently won its Friday night time period.

Another big surprise: “Old Christine,” which has been a stable, if modest performer on the network’s Wednesday night lineup. Also, ABC has consistently expressed interest in picking up the comedy should CBS drop it.

Also, “Cold Case.” CBS was on the fence on this seven-year-old drama for months. On Sunday nights, “Case” ratings were admirably stable, if fairly modest.

“Miami” nosedived on Fridays at 10 p.m., then showed some signs of improvement in recent weeks once it was offered a lead-in from original episodes of “Medium.” Last Friday, the momentum seemed to stall, with the drama backsliding once again to a 1.2 rating.

“Accidentally” may end up with the highest average rating among any canceled show this season. As part of CBS’ comedy block, the show posted a number that would have been perfectly acceptable in most time periods. But once CBS sample the show on less protected Wednesday nights, its ratings fell sharply, showing the network its Monday audience was mainly built on momentum.

Ever since “Numbers” saw its episode count reduced, insiders have expected the show to get axed.

CBS has canceled its program “The Ghost Whisperer” and rumor now has it that ABC will pick up the show – which could mean producing more episodes or strictly showing the series in syndication. It also turns out that ABC developed “The Ghost Whisperer” before selling it to CBS – so technically ABC already owns half of the show, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for it to be shown on the network. What do you think about this?

Jennifer Love Hewitt on ‘Ghost Whisperer”s Last Episode

Canvas background demo

Melinda’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) investigation of a poltergeist in the hospital leads to a showdown with supernatural forces terrorizing her and her son on tonight’s “Ghost Whisperer.”

“We have lots of strange children marching around in scary masks, which is so creepy,” Jennifer tells ET. “It’s like, ‘Why do we always have to make children creepy?’ I’m constantly asking the producers. I’m like, ”Can’t we just have a child who’s not creepy, because it freaks me out. It gives me nightmares and I don’t like it.'”

There actually is a non-creepy kid on “Ghost Whisperer,” and that is her son Aiden (Connor Gibbs).

“We find out that he has to come to Melinda’s aid and really saves her life in the season finale,” Jennifer says. “The dark side gets extremely powerful very quickly and he’s sort of her only heroic key. So my son gets to kind of be a superhero for the episode, which is very cool.”

The “Ghost Whisperer” season finale — possibly the series finale — airs tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Should ABC Save ‘Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’?

Ghost WhispererEven though CBS canceled both ‘Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’ earlier this week, there’s been lots of talk that ABC might save both shows from the dustbin of history. The most recent rumors (as reported by Deadline and Entertainment Weekly) suggest that ABC still wants ‘Ghost Whisperer’ but not ‘Christine.’

But viewers may well ask: Does either show deserve to be saved?

CBS canceled the two shows, which had both run for five years, citing the usual reasons of low ratings (as CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler explained to E!) and increased expenses (actors tend to demand more money the longer a show stays on the air). ABC had long been interested in picking up either show if CBS should drop it, much the way ABC, CBS and TNT picked up ‘Scrubs,’ ‘Medium’ and ‘Southland,’ respectively, after NBC orphaned them.

The news that ‘Ghost Whisperer’ still has a shot at survival, while ‘Christine’ doesn’t, is curious. ABC’s fall slate, unveiled this week, is already full of hour-long dramas, including one, Dana Delany’s Friday-night procedural ‘Body of Proof,’ that seems to play to the same strengths as Jennifer Love Hewitt’s longtime Friday night staple (minus the supernatural element). Still, ABC Productions is a co-producer of the ‘Ghost Whisperer,’ so some of the expense of the transfer and a fraction of any potential syndication revenue will go back into the parent company’s pocket.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus in 'The New Adventures of Old Christine'That wouldn’t be the case with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ ‘Christine,’ even though, as a long-running half-hour comedy, it would be much easier to syndicate. Also, ABC’s new fall slate includes a couple new ‘Christine’-like comedies: ‘Happy Endings’ (about a couple that splits up but remains in each other’s lives) and ‘Better Together’ (about two women and their very different romantic relationships). Not a lot of room for a third such show, especially given the network’s popular Wednesday comedy block — which contains sophomore series ‘Cougar Town,’ another ‘Christine’-like show.

Even if ABC could save both CBS castoffs, however, should they? Sometimes, a canceled show still has a lot of potential creative life left (as was the case with ‘Southland,’ which NBC let go after just one season). Often, however, the canceled show has run out of juice before it finds a new home, as was the case with ‘Scrubs.’

Does anyone think that, after five years, ‘Ghost Whisperer’ or ‘Old Christine’ still had a lot of new stories left to tell? If you do, let us know below. And if you think it’s time to let them rest in peace, let us know that, too.

CBS’s New Fall 2010 Schedule: Cancels Ghost Whisperer

CBS Shifts Schedule, Unveils Male-Dominated New Shows

Jim Parsons and William Shatner

CBS will add only five new series to its fall lineup, taking an if-it-ain’t broke approach that will bring back 18 series, though some of them will be in unproven new time slots. The male-dominated new shows include the previously anticipated Hawaii Five-0 reboot, a new legal drama, The Defenders, starring Jim Belushi and Jerry O’Connell, a family cop drama starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, and $#*! My Dad Says, a William Shatner vehicle inspired by a Twitter feed.

Fall TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren’t?

Also joining the lineup is and Chuck Lorre’s romantic comedy Mike & Molly, with Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy. Hawaii Five-O already has high expectations not only because of fondness for the original series, but also because the cast include Daniel Dae Kim in his first post-Lost role and Alex O’Loughlin hoping the third time will be the charm after two previous CBS series — Moonlight and Three Rivers — were each canceled after less than one season.

Check out our day-by-day guide to all the networks’ fall schedules

The Big Bang Theory, a major success as part of CBS’ Monday night comedy block, will move to Thursdays at 8 to launch a new hour of comedy. Survivor will leave Thursdays for Wednesday nights at 8. And, in perhaps the network’s riskiest move, CSI: NY will move to Fridays at 9, a timeslot where shows often struggle to thrive. CSI: Miami will move to Sundays at 10.

CBS cancels seven series, including Ghost Whisperer, Numb3rs and Cold Case

The network ordered a Criminal Minds spinoff starring Forest Whitaker for midseason.

Details on the new shows:

Hawaii Five-O: Kim and O’Loughlin’s characters solve crimes in a drama CBS president describes as being “character driven with great humor.”

The Defenders: In another drama billed as funny and character-based, Belushi and O’Connell play a pair of colorful Las Vegas defense attorneys.

Blue Bloods: Selleck and Wahlberg anchor this NYPD drama about a family so into being cops that their blood runs blue. Not literally.

$#*! My Dad Says: This hard-to-type and harder to pronounce comedy was inspired by a Twitter feed about a dad who says the wrong thing, wears not enough clothes and generally embarrasses his son.

Mike and Molly: Gardell and McCarthy play a cop and teacher who find love at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting.

* All signs point to ABC rescuing Ghost Whisperer from CBS’ trash heap. An Alphabet reprieve for Old Christine, however, appears unlikely. And I think we can all agree that that sucks something major.

* The final updates have been made to my Bubble Show Scorecard. Did your favorites make the cut? Most of mine did — and, really, that’s all that matters.

* At Adult Swim’s upfront presentation this evening, the cable net is expected to unveil a trailer for the new season of Rob Corddry’s uproariously twisted onetime Web series Children’s Hospital (bowing July 11). An exclusive first look at said trailer is below.

Breaking: CBS cancels ‘Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘Old Christine’

ghost-whisperer-old-christineImage Credit: Sonja Flemming/CBS; Greg Gayne/CBSIn a stunning move, CBS has axed both Ghost Whisperer and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Also gone: Gary Unmarried, Cold Case, Miami Medical, Accidentally on Purpose, and Numb3rs.

Medium and Rules of Engagement, meanwhile, have been renewed.

Fans may want to hold off on eulogizing Ghost and Christine for a day or two, however. There’s an outside chance that ABC (which co-owns GW and has long coveted Christine) may swoop in and rescue one or both.

“There’s a 50/50 shot that Christine will move to ABC,” says one source. A reprieve for Ghost appears less likely. Final decisions are expected later this week.

OTH, LUX,Nikita, Betwixt and Hellcats – Potentially good news

According to Variety the CW is looking to pick up a maximum of three new dramas for next season which could leave room for both LUX and OTH to be renewed. A Nikita pickup is a sure thing with Betwixt and Hellcats looking good for the other two spots.

Sophia Bush does a pilot- Is Life Unexpected winning the battle against One Tree Hill?

One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush has been cast as the lead in a new ABC comedy. While they gave the usual “Pilot is in second place to One Tree Hill” remark lets face it when was the last time a main cast member of a in-danger show ever done a pilot without it being cancelled in the end?
The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed that of Life Unexpected and One Tree Hill only one is expected to survive

One Tree Hill – Tipped For New Season

The CW president Dawn Ostroff has admitted that she is encouraged by the success of One Tree Hill.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ostroff gave hope to Tree Hill fans about the possibility of an eighth season renewal.

“We’re encouraged. We think [creator] Mark Schwahn has done a great job with the show. The fans are the most loyal and dedicated I think I’ve ever seen. They have some 1.6 million fans on Facebook.”

She added: “Too early too tell [about a renewal], but creatively we feel the show is in a really good place.”

Asked whether One Tree Hill will be competing with Life Unexpected for a slot in the 2010-11 schedule, Ostroff would neither confirm nor deny.

Exclusive: Updates on Life Unexpected,One Tree Hill and Melrose Place’s statuses

According to our contacts at the CW things are looking much darker for Life Unexpected which has gone from 50/50 to highly unlikely to return. This does not however mean that things are much brighter for One Tree Hill which is still very much on the bubble – though it is more likely to be renewed than LUX at this point despite being so much more expensive. Due to it’s costs it is also unlikely to move to SOAPNET if the CW were to cancel it. The problem at the CW is with all their renewals they only plan on picking up 3 to 4 of HMS, BETWIXT, Nikita, Nomads,Untitled horse farm drama, Hellcats, One Tree Hill and Melrose Place (which is considered pretty much dead at this point). The success of High Society could also make things even more competitive. At this point don’t be surprised if come May, the CW doesn’t renew anything else and just picks up 3 to 4 pilots.

Ghost Whisperer Season Finale Spoilers: All About Aidan

Ghost Whisperer Spoilers: Season Finale to Focus on Aidan Storyline

Source: TV Fanatic

This Friday, Ghost Whisperer doesn’t merely return with its first new episode in weeks – it airs its 100th installment. The special episode is directed by Jennifer Love Hewitt. Looking ahead, the drama’s cast and crew spoke to TV Guide Magazine this week about the season finale in May. Titled “The Children’s Parade,” what can fans expect from this episode? For starters, it will wrap up the long-running storyline involving Melinda’s son, Aidan, says producer Ian Sander: “The connection of Aidan, Melinda, the Shinies (who will turn out to be the crossed-over spirits of children here to protect Aidan and Melinda) and the Shadows will come to a climax.” Adds fellow producer Kim Moses: “There’s going to be a lot of action from the dark side and you’re going to have a lot of answers to some mysteries about the intersection of the living and the dead.”

Ghost Whisperer Crew

Ghost Whisperer creator John Gray will direct the episode, which he describes as “one of the show’s scariest. It’s basically about a haunting at a hospital by the ghosts of kids from an abandoned polio ward in the early 1900’s. They go on a march every night.” As for Melinda? The show’s star says her character “will realize just how little she knows about what her son knows – and that’s scary for her. Because if she can’t see it, then she can’t save him from it.”

Cue the suspenseful music…

Hewitt Pulls Triple Duty in Ghost Whisperer‘s
"Explosive" 100th Episode

Source: TV Guide

Camryn Manheim, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy,
Jennifer Love Hewitt

For Ghost Whisperer‘s star and executive producer Jennifer Love Hewitt, every day on the set is a busy one. But that didn’t stop her from pulling triple duty as the director of the CBS series’ 100th episode, airing Friday at 8/7c.

"It was definitely daunting and definitely nerve-racking, but I was really excited and honored to get to do it," Hewitt says. "Having been on the show and worked this hard on it, it was really nice to be in control of such a big episode."

Ghost Whisperer producers talks 100th episode

Executive producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander said asking Hewitt to direct was a "no-brainer" after her past success behind the camera.

"When the new season came, she of course wanted to direct again and, frankly, we insisted that she direct again because she did such a good job," Sander says. "When we started talking about the 100th episode and that we wanted it to be special … it seemed like a natural to have her direct it."

In the episode, titled "Implosion" and written by series creator John Gray, Melinda must race against a ticking clock when a ghost tells her that a bomb has gotten into the wrong hands. Although this is now Hewitt’s third time in the director’s chair, she says she explored a lot of new territory in the action-intense episode. "There are some big explosions in the episode which are really fun. I had never done those before as a director or as an actor," Hewitt says. "I had no idea quite how explosive it was going to be on all angles."

See photos from Ghost Whisperer

The series’ 100th episode is not only explosive because of a bomb, but because of the bomb’s aftermath, namely a major character’s death. The series’ creative team is understandably tight-lipped about the character’s identity.

"Just because it’s a death, doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the character. I wouldn’t necessarily count on that," Sander says. "We have actors that fortunately have a very good time on our show and we try to explain to them, the best way to recur is to die."

No matter if said character returns to Grandview or not, Hewitt says the death will have long-term repercussions. "The death means possible deaths for others," she says.

It is only fitting the episode deals with the death of a major character on a show that deals with mortality so openly week after week — an attribute to which the producers credit the series’ success. "The concept of the show is a universal theme; everybody in the world would like one more chance to reconnect with somebody they love who has passed away," Moses says.

Whisperer Cast’s Big Tease
"

This Friday, CBS’s Ghost Whisperer airs its 100th episode, and next week the stars will go to work on their fifth season finale, to air in mid-May. The stars and producers came together Monday night in Hollywood to celebrate their milestone. I was there too – and left with a goodie bag of scoops.

“’Explosive’ is the word I would like to use for our 100th episode,” previews star/producer Jennifer Love Hewitt, who also directed the installment. “There will be an unexpected death of someone you may not want to see die and this death puts everyone in jeopardy.”

This being Ghost Whisperer, you can expect this killed-off character (not a series regular) to return in some form.

The finale, titled "The Children’s Parade," will wrap up the season-long Shadows storyline involving Melinda’s five-year-old son, Aidan. “The connection of Aidan, Melinda, the Shinies (who will turn out to be the crossed-over spirits of children here to protect Aidan and Melinda) and the Shadows will
come to a climax,” teases executive producer Ian Sander, with fellow EP Kim Moses adding, “There’s going to be a lot of action from the dark side and you’re going to have a lot of answers to some mysteries about the intersection of the living and the dead.”

Series creator John Gray will direct the episode, which he describes as “one of the show’s scariest. It’s basically about a haunting at a hospital by the ghosts of kids from an abandoned polio ward in the early 1900’s. They go on a march every night.”

Love adds that her spooked-out character, “will realize just how little she knows about what her son knows – and that’s scary for her. Because if she can’t see it then she can’t save him from it.”

Guest star Margaret Cho will be back for two more episodes this season as a teacher of the occult who works alongside Eli. “She’s going to help solve some crimes,” says Sander.

“She’s so amazing; so dirty and I love it,” raves Love of Cho. “We have so much fun together.”

Also guest starring in an upcoming episode: The Shield actress Catherine Dent as a boozy ghost named Laura. “It was really fun playing a drunk,” says Catherine, “because I could show up to work looking like crap.”

Love helming the 100th turned out to be a real treat for the cast. Christoph Sanders, who plays Ned, says, “she has a knack of getting us wrapped about three hours earlier than other directors. No matter how hard the day is, she never has us work more than ten or twelve hours as opposed to sixteen.”

“She knows all my week spots, so she protects me,” adds Love’s co-star and real-life love, Jamie Kennedy. “She knows I’m not a great actor before 11 am, so she made sure to shoot everyone else first before coming to me.”

Co-star Camryn Manheim got her own thrill during Love’s week behind the camera. “The best thing about having Jennifer Love Hewitt direct you is I feel I get some girl-on-girl action,” says Camryn. “She touches you, grabs you and tells you to ‘Get your boobs looking good, girl,’ in a way that other directors might end up with a memo from the heads of CBS.”

Ghost Whisperer Producers Talk 100th Episode

by Kim Moses & Ian Sander

HEY EVERYONE!

GHOST WHISPERER‘S 100TH EPISODE IS FINALLY HERE! "IMPLOSION" is the name of the episode — and we can’t wait to share it with you on March 5 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on CBS.  We want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this amazing journey.  Ghost Whisperer wouldn’t be the show it is today without the loyal support of YOU!

IMPLOSION was written by Ghost Whisperer creator John Gray. It was directed by our own "triple threat" Jennifer Love Hewitt. She not only stars in the show, but she directs and executive produces it. Talk about multi-tasking. Check out photos of her in action here. When Army surplus items are found to be haunted, Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) soon figures out that her ghost had discovered a hidden munitions dump while he was alive — complete with unexploded bombs. And one of those bombs is now missing, in the hands of someone in Grandview with dark intentions. (This is a great reconnect to Ghost Whisperer‘s pilot, which John also wrote — when you
watch the 100th you’ll see why.)

The 100th Episode guest stars: Stephen Lee as George (Bones, Numb3rs), Joey Luthman as Joey (Private Practice, Weeds), Alexie Gilmore as Julie (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice), Joe Zuniga as Officer Luis Simon (CSI, Castle) and Sarah Teresa as Ghost Nurse (Hearts and Hotel Rooms).

Musically, the 100th Episode features "Ooh Wee" by Sharon Little (CBS Records), "Sunlight" by Turtle Giant, and "Still Be There" by Toy Horses. For The Ghost Whisperer IMPLOSION MUSIC PLAY LIST, visit http://www.myspace.com/ghostwhisperer.

Ghost Whisperer – Latest from TV Guide Magazine

Ghost Whisperer co-stars and real-life lovebirds Jennifer Love Hewitt (Melinda) and Jamie Kennedy (Eli) didn’t let go of each other’s hands as they roamed the halls of Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend. I managed to get a few minutes with them, as well as their co-stars, Camryn Manheim (Delia) and Christoph Sanders (Ned) and producers Ian Sander and P.K. Simonds to spill secrets about their new season, premiering Sept. 25.

Love, Jaime, you two are obviously inseparable. Does that mean we’ll see more Melinda/Eli scenes this season?
Love Hewitt: Hopefully, yeah. I think they’re going to come up with fun stuff for us to do. We got to do a fun scene the other day that was funny and heartfelt. Eli and Melinda are sort of partners in crime and they share their weird gifts.

Camryn, Ned, how does the show’s five-year jump effect your characters?
Manheim: My son is dating girls and sucking face and I’m not super happy about that.
Sanders: I’m in college studying the paranormal. Eli is teaching one of my classes. It’s great to finally play my own age. Ned was 16, and now he’s 21 like me.
Manheim: Delia has rented the store next to Same As It Never Was, and has started her real estate business. She’s also dating several men.

Jamie, we’re going to meet some of Eli’s family this season?
Kennedy: Yeah. My dad, Ray, is being played by Barry Newman.
Love Hewitt: We have Barry Bostwick in the same episode playing his dad’s friend and business partner, Don. And we have the amazing Christine Estabrook (Desperate Housewives’ Martha Huber) playing Eli’s mother, Evelyn.

What is Eli’s relationship like with his parents?
Love Hewitt: Not normal.
Kennedy: My dad and I have a strange relationship. My mother and I have a good relationship. The episode I’m filming now is crazy. The bomb’s keep getting dropped. It’s something that’s either going to work or people are going to think this is really weird. It’s something that’s not addressed normally in television.
Love Hewitt: Not everyone on the show has to necessarily be alive.
Simonds: We realized because of Eli’s comic relationship with the dead, it might be fun to bring characters on who might give us eyeballs on the other side. This season there’s going to be some storytelling that involves things that ghosts can see that we can’t.

What powers does Melinda’s 5-year-old son, Aidan, possess?
Sander: He’s a special child. He has the gifts that he has and much more. He can see things she can’t, and sense things she can’t. What that lets us do is reveal a new dimension we haven’t seen before. There are beings on this other plane who are wonderful, magical forces of good. And some are the direct opposite. There’s a new enemy that we’ve never grappled with before. Also, sometimes there are things that don’t want to be seen. Shadows perhaps.

Ghost Whisperer – Comic- Con Spoilers

Thanks to bookwrm74 from TWoP for the following.

1) It’s confirmed that the show IS jumping five years in the future, which isn’t really a shock to any of us by now, though I realize I’m among the few who really likes this idea since I hated where they left off last season!

2) Ned’s in college and dating. Delia, too, will be dating. My reaction: *sigh* Can’t someone get a storyline that doesn’t involve dating?! On the plus side, I tend to love the ghost stories set in college, so hopefully Ned being there will give us some good ones.

3) We’re going to meet Eli’s parents. My reaction: Just what I’ve always dreamed of…not! I would rather learn more about ANY of the other characters’ families…and, hey, rememember that whole plotline with Melinda and her dad and brother? Well, I remember, but it seems the writers don’t!

4) Jim and Melinda do in fact have a son, and his name is Aidan. They also confirmed that he’ll be even more powerful than Melinda. My reaction: not sure what to think here…I don’t care at all that it’s a son, as I never saw the need for Melinda to have a daughter instead and think interesting parenting issues related to her own relationship with her parents can be an issue regardless of her child’s gender…if the writers bother exploring those issues at all, that is! As for him being powerful…well, er, at least that’ll make his scenes more interesting than the typical ‘cutesy precocious children’ scenes we see on most other shows IMO.

5) JLH is directing the first episode of S5 and also the 100th episode of the series.

6) They’re playing it coy as to whether we’ll see Homer the Ghost Dog again this season, which would honestly be my favorite spoiler of all—by far!

s Son Aidan Clancy will be 5, Casting Under Way

Episode 5.01: Season Premiere Airdate: September 2009

Casting for 5-year-old Aiden Clancy have begun. As said in spoilers below, the show is planning a five-year jump between the season 4 finale and the season 5 premiere, meaning that Jim and Melinda’s son will be 5 years old at the start of the season. Aiden is described as a normal but sometimes serious boy who sees ghosts. When playing at a friend’s house, Aiden sees the ghost of sad and scary man who is bruised and has a cut on his head. Aiden pretends he wants to play with cars but in fact he wants a reason to get close to the ghost and talk to him. He learns that the man doesn’t remember who he is but remembers he got hurt after hurting someone else first. Melinda, who was chit chatting with the other mother, arrives on the scene and asks Aiden if he wants to go. He says no as he wants to help people just like his mother does. Source: SpoilerFix.com

A Ghost Whisperer insider confirms that producers of the CBS drama are toying with the idea of kicking the new season off five years into the future. The move would allow the show to introduce Jim and Melinda’s son as a pre-schooler instead of as a newborn. As you’ll recall, the season ended with Melinda learning that her offspring would possess psychic powers even greater than her own. Probably a tough story to do with a burping, teething toddler. Ghost Whisperer – Season 5 Recurring Guest Casting

Strange things come to him at night, but he’s matter of fact about it, as any child would be who’d grown up surrounded by ghosts. Recurring Guest Star with possible series option. Source: SpoilerTV

Spooky things happened at Ned’s campus so he and a friend named Brianna, who knows about Melinda’s gift, called Melinda asap instead of calling the police. Ned and Brianna thinks it’s one of Brianna’s now dead friends Gwen Collier who’s doing all this. Brianna and Gwen had a falling out after Brianna told Gwen’s boyfriend that she made out with another guy. So Gwen blamed Brianna for her boyfriend dumping her which could explain why Gwen is now haunting Brianna. One of the spooky happenings is a chain email that Brianna received from Gwen’s email adress a few days after the later died. The email said that if it wasn’t forwarded before the day was over, she or someone she loved would suffer. The email also clearly stated that it should not be deleted or bad things would continue happening. Brianna is afraid because she deleted said email. Jennifer Love Hewitt Talks Ghost Whisperer, Love & Marriage

If special effects like a passenger plane falling out of the sky, scaryass ghosts popping out of nowhere or some fancy-schmancy, gruesome makeup are what you love about Ghost Whisperer, we might have some bad news for you. As we all know, times are tough and even successful television shows are feeling the pinch. At least that’s what Jennifer Love Hewitt, star and coproducer of Ghost Whisperer, told us when we caught up with her at the Monte Carlo Television Festival this week.

The star told reporters about the show’s cost-cutting methods for next season and even dished on her romance with Jamie Kennedy… “We are a special effects show, so some of our special effects stuff has had to be cut in half,” she said. “We haven’t been able to do any actor raises for season five. We’ve had to cut budgets here and there. They have also been talking about actually shooting our show on HD to save money.” On the upside, J.Love’s looking forward to her maternal storylines for next season: “So far, the series has been about her talking to ghosts, but also keeping herself safe and fighting the dark side. Now, she’s not only looking out for herself, but looking out for a child as well.” Her child, of course, is a baby boy who has “the gift.”

Ghostly whispers about next season (yes, next!), include: Dr. Jim (?!), a certain baby’s special gifts, the “Book of Changes” and a possible Grandview space-time continuum!

Are we going to see more of the Watchers on Ghost Whisperer? Ghost Whisperer show runner P.K. Simonds says we will “definitely” see more Watchers and begin to learn about how the “very important” Book of Changes relates to their abilities: “Over the very, very long span of time that they’ve been watching, [the Watchers] have observed that history tends to repeat itself. That gives them a certain ability to make a pretty good educated guess about what the future is. They are able to know something about what’s taking shape, let’s say, in a character’s womb. And yes, it’s possible to know certain things about the gift that might be growing.”

Do you have any inside info about Ghost Whisperer? Show runner P.K. Simonds broke the news to us that Melinda is preggers with Jim’s baby, but that’s not all he had to say about Ghost Whisperer’s newest castmember: It’s a “very special baby with an important role to play,” who will inherit unique abilities from Melinda. But Melinda’s “new, young apprentice,” says Simonds, also possesses “other kinds of gifts that we haven’t explored on the show yet.”

So great that Jim remembered himself on Ghost Whisperer, but what’s next? Do they still have two guys playing one character? According to Ghost Whisperer show runner P.K. Simonds, “We might catch a couple of glimpses” of Kenneth Mitchell, the actor who plays Sam, during the remainder of the season, but that’s it. And we’ll see David Conrad as Jim, but everyone on the show still perceives him as Sam. “He can’t resume [his Jim life] exactly, because Sam Lucas doesn’t have a license to practice emergency medicine, but obstacles are also opportunities. He finds a new direction that actually allows him to go after a specific dream he’s always had.” Like, say, Jim’s dream of medical school? Looks like Grandview residents might eventually enjoy Jim’s bedside manner via Dr. Sam Lucas… Source: Kristin on E!Online

Ghost Whisperer Episode Recap 4.22 ‘Endless Love’

‘Ghost Whisperer’ jumps on the vampire fad bandwagon

Source: Zap2it.com Recaps

This week on “Ghost Whisperer“, one of Ned’s high school friends has herself a serious sleepwalking problem, an absentee father, and a ghost who wants to be a vampire. Doesn’t everyone lately though?

Ned’s friend Serena is a teensy bit forgetful lately, and it might be because she’s got a crazy sleepwalking problem that leaves her covered in clay. She’s also being trailed by a ghost with strange bloodshot eyes and receiving gifts of plumeria flowers and sphinx moths in her locker at school, which supposedly means something spooky. When she confronts another guy, Jonathan, about the flowers and the sleepwalking, he’s bolts, but is immediately enveloped by chalk dust. Ooo. Scary chalk dust!

Meanwhile, Melinda tries to help Serena by approaching her mom, played by the awesome Gail O’Grady. We’re not even past the credits when she explains her ghost gift. That might be a new record. Melinda thinks the ghost might be protecting Serena from something or someone. Turns out Serena’s dad is cheating.

That evening, Serena comes to see Melinda, and asks if the dead person is real – she knows she’s being haunted by a guy – but she doesn’t really want them to leave. But she doesn’t seem to realize that it’s a ghost, and when told that by Melinda, she flees. Melinda calls Eli, who recounts all of the weirdnesses about Serena, just as Zoe the voodoo expert professor walks by. She says the sleepwalking, clay, flowers, moths, and dust all add up to vampires.

That evening, Serena wakes up completely covered in wormy clay, and starts apologizing to the fluttering curtains for blabbing about him to Melinda.

So, a ghostly vampire! Vampires who live and love forever, unlike Serena’s father. After a quick Internet search, they find Andrew, a high schooler who recently died of a blood disease. He’s no Edward Cullen, but he’s trying hard to be for Serena. Serena wasn’t aware that he died, but they were close. Serena thought Jonathan was the vampire, but Melinda explains that Andrew is a ghost, and the one who has been stringing her along with the vampire lore clues.

That evening, Andrew shows up in Melinda’s dreams, disguised as Jim. He tells Melinda that she cheated death once, and it doesn’t mean that she will again. Not really sure that dream was about the Andrew situation; Melinda still has a price to pay for getting Jim back. When she wakes up, Andrew is there, and he says that he’ll have Serena, one way or the other. The next day, Andrew lures Serena out of her house with the promise that she could see him again.

He leads her to his family’s mausoleum, surrounded by red clay and sphinx moths. She says she’s lonely, and doesn’t want to be lonely anymore. He pushes the door open for her, explaining that they’ll be together soon if she goes in. Before she runs out of air, Melinda arrives to confront Andrew and explains that what he’s doing to Serena isn’t love. He leads her to the mausoleum just in time, and after reuniting with her parents, who are going to give their own relationship a second chance, Andrew explains that Serena’s loneliness must be addressed before he heads into the light. The wormy bed isn’t mentioned, but boy, it should have been because that’s no way to show affection either. And was the cemetery they used right out of a Buffy set or what? This episode actually did some very nice psychotherapy on teenagers and the latest version of the pop culture fascination with vampires. .

On a happier and less wormy note, there’s a wedding to plan and a big baby bump too. And now, technically, Melinda has two mother-in-laws to deal with since they’re inviting Jim’s mom. It looks as though the wedding is next week, on the season finale, along with some other good stuff.  Bring on the spooky.

Ghost Whisperer Episode Recap 4.21 “Cursed”

‘Ghost Whisperer’ welcomes you to the dollhouse

Source: Zap2it.com Recaps

Melinda is pregnant, she and Jim are in love, Delia and Eli are going to throw her a baby shower, spring has sprung, and we have one of the seriously creepiest episodes of “Ghost Whisperer” we’ve had in a long while.

Drew is a little girl who has a decidedly creepy dollhouse full of ghosty dolls tucked away in her attic. The custom-made dollhouse is modeled after the house her cousin, Emma, lived in as a child. Emma’s family all died three years ago, and she now lives with Drew and Lucy, her aunt. Drew confides to Melinda that the dolls miss their daughter… and they want her with them.

After Melinda has a vision of bodies laying around and someone slitting their wrist, she goes to check out the dollhouse. Drew tells her the dolls move around on their own, and she hears them whispering. Lucy tells Melinda the original house was torn down, and that she’s keeping the dollhouse for Emma when she’s older. She’s all weird about the dollhouse, and Emma, and she’s just as freaking scary as the dollhouse herself. That night, Emma finds Drew talking to the dolls, and then sees and hears them moving around herself. They then lock her in the attic with them.

The next morning, Emma brings the dolls and the dollhouse to the store, and asks what Melinda might know. Melinda says she’s seen visions of her family, and that their spirits are connected to the dolls and the dollhouse. Emma explains that the dollhouse belonged to the house, not to her family. She’d never seen it before Drew found it. And she wasn’t the one who cut her wrists.

That evening, Melinda gets some one-on-one time with the dolls, who show her that Lucy was the one who cut herself, and that someone’s broken a promise they made. Eli talks with another Rockland U professor who teaches about voodoo, and she thinks Lucy’s blood sealed the spirits into the house, and by demolishing the real house, they’re trapped in the dollhouse. Additionally, Emma has a bunch of her parents’ money coming to her when she turns 18… or Lucy would get it, if Emma died.

Inexplicably, the dollhouse returns to the attic, where Emma finds a tiny note saying “Get out. You’re next.” She asks Drew what the dolls have been saying, since now she believes her family’s spirits are living in the dolls. Drew tells her they’ve said Lucy hurt them, and that she’s going to hurt Emma. Emma realizes that Lucy killed her whole family. Emma tries to run out, but before she can leave, she has a moment with the spirits of her family, freed from the dolls. And while that moment freaked me out, someone get that nice lady playing Emma’s dead mom some hand lotion.

Once Melinda realizes that Lucy had taken the dollhouse back, she runs back to the house. Meanwhile Drew watches her mom doing spooky voodoo over the dollhouse. Drew freaks out, and tells her mom she’s now scared of her, and has a big old knife to protect herself. At this point, the whole house – not the dollhouse – begins to shake, and Lucy says “they’re out.” Emma comes back to protect Drew, but Lucy grabs Emma, and yells that she’ll kill her if “they” don’t stop.

Melinda swoops in at this moment, and the spirits explain about the night they died. They believed Lucy killed them for their money, but Lucy was just looking out for Emma, who she thought had been out partying that night. She’d peeked in their windows to check on Emma but the spirits thought she was checking to make sure they were dead. Then scary Lucy turns back into sweet Lucy, who can still perform complicated voodoo spells, but I digress, and the family heads into the light. And the dollhouse is now just a dollhouse, but still creepy.

During this episode, Melinda can’t find the wedding rings she’s worn on a chain since the night Jim “died.” In the end, Jim tells her he’d taken them to the jeweler to get engraved with the word “forever.” And then Jim asks Melinda, again, to marry him. Nice moment, but “Jim” has only been gone nine weeks, right? Grandview is going to be buzz-ing about “Sam.”

Ghost Whisperer Recap: “Thrilled to Death”

‘Ghost Whisperer’: The First Rule of Cancer Support Group…

Source: Zap2it.com Recaps

Previously on “Ghost Whisperer,” Jim came back to Melinda via a rebirth from the sewer. He now doesn’t really remember anything since the gunshot.

The Mystery of the Week this week revolves around Hillary Duff. She plays a woman named Morgan who is being haunted by a creepy dude named Rick Hartman. He was a pencil-pushing neat-freak who found out he was dying and went all last-day-on-Earth crazy, complete with Bucket List. He died sky-diving in Mexico. The last item on the list? Morgan. Just “Morgan.” As in “to do?” But Morgan doesn’t have any idea who the guy is.

However, it turns out Morgan and Rick were going to a Cancer Support Group together. It’s how they met. Just like Tyler Durden and Marla Singer. Hmmm. Rick’s ghost is back and mad because Morgan isn’t doing anything to save her life. I smell a rat, guys. Eli and Melinda talk to her but Morgan says she’s given up except for an experimental, expensive treatment but she doesn’t have the money and says she won’t ask her family and is just going to continue on with dying.

Melinda and Eli find out she actually *has* no family but was previously married twice. And both husbands died and left her a ton of money. She’s a praying mantis! Melinda says, “Black widow,” but I like praying mantis.

Rick finds out what Morgan really is and goes after her, too late to find out from Melinda and Eli that Morgan donated all the money she inherited from her victims to charity. The Scooby Duo tracks Morgan down on the roof of her building where Rick has knocked her off and she clings to a pipe. They manage to save her and explain to her that Rick wants to punish her.

Morgan explains that she took his money but it was different this time because Rick really cared for her. Melinda dons her Psychologist Hat and traces it back to Morgan’s dead parents. She then figures out the ghost committed suicide by packing his chute wrong (hey, that was on CSI last night!). He made it look like an accident so Morgan could get the insurance money.

Jim walks around trying to regain his old life but no one knows who he is. It’s boring and kind-of pointless. What it boils down to is that Sam has Gen Ed credits so Jim can use those to get started on going to Med School.

2.23 Book of Changes (Season finale) – Airing May 2009

Melinda’s dreams and visions about her baby tie in with a mysterious “Book of Changes” that everyone wants to get their hands on. Jeremy Bishop: In his mid 30s, good-looking, tall, and mysterious, he meets with Zoe to discuss a special collection of books that are being sold to support the university. His interest in the tomes is sinister, and he can turn from pleasant and charming to ice-cold in an instant. (SpoilerTV)

Season 5 Spoilers!!!

Simonds broke the news to us that Melinda is preggers with Jim’s baby, but that’s not all he had to say about Ghost Whisperer‘s newest castmember: It’s a “very special baby with an important role to play,” who will inherit unique abilities from Melinda.

New Ghost Whisperer Spoilers: Season 5 Scoop! Jim & Melinda’s Baby!

Ghost Whisperer Season 5 Spoilers! Time Leap 5 Years in the Future!

Ghost Whisperer Leaping Five Years in the Future: Melinda and Jim’s Son Aidan Lucus will be 5, Casting Under Way

David Conrad lives on in Ghost Whisperer: Character lives on, dead

For most people, the day they find out they’re going to die is the worst day of their life.

But David Conrad’s reaction was one of bemusement.

After three seasons playing Jim Clancy on Ghost Whisperer, the CBS supernatural series about a woman who talks to ghosts, the writers sat down with Conrad and told him that his character was going to die in Season 4. In a shocking episode, Jim is fatally shot, leaving his psychic wife Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) to help his spirit cross over to the other side.

“The head writer said, ‘Hey, we really need to have a meeting.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, boy. Here it comes,'” Conrad remembers. “It was funny, actually — he was like, ‘We’re going to kill you off, but . . . you’re still on the show.'”

One of the perks of starring on a supernatural-themed show is that a character’s death doesn’t necessarily mean the actor should start looking for work. In this case, Jim refuses to go into the light; instead, he enters the body of another recently-deceased man, who wakes up with no memory of his past life. While other characters can only see the other man, when Melinda looks at him, she — and the viewers — see Jim, meaning Conrad gets to keep his day job.

But not everyone reacted to Jim’s death and rebirth as well as Conrad did. When news of the storyline first leaked last September, fans immediately took to the Internet to voice their intense displeasure, with most threatening to stop watching the show altogether. Even as the plot unfolded throughout the season, viewers continued to express anger.

“The new storyline is a flop. I think Melinda and Jim need to be together to make the show work, not with this crazy thing of Jim’s spirit in someone else,” one viewer posted on a Dose.ca forum. “I always looked forward to watching on Fridays, if they don’t bring Jim back (in the flesh), I will find another show to watch.”

Added another: “The writers of this plot twist should be FIRED! . . . This all better be a dream or something! If this plot isn’t done and over by the first epi of the next season, I am done with the show!”

Yet, surprisingly, Ghost Whisperer’s ratings have gone up. So far, the fourth season is averaging 10.5 million US viewers, up from 9.3 million last year; its Feb. 28 episode earned 11.54 million viewers, putting it in the No. 15 spot in the Nielsen ratings and beating out hit shows like Lost and The Amazing Race. Not bad for a Friday-night show whose fans keep threatening to revolt.

“I think they’re angry in the sense of, ‘This chicken’s terrible! And it comes in such small portions!'” says Conrad. “They’re pissed about something but only while they’re watching it. I think the writers irked people just right — and they did it in few enough episodes that viewers followed it to get what they wanted.”

The 40-year-old actor isn’t phased by any of the negative fan reaction and is focusing instead on the new challenges brought on by the storyline.

“The thing that was most interesting about it, to me, was what it gave us the opportunity to do. If I lost my memory completely about Melinda, there was the idea that they could start flirting again and courting each other,” he explains. “It was weird — when you’ve worked with someone day in and day out for a few years, it’s neat to suddenly play a scene where we don’t know each other. Playing a supportive husband and wife translates into Jennifer and I watching each others’ backs on the set. To be in a scenario where you’re not supposed to be doing that is a little awkward, a little strange. It felt sort of alien, but kind of cool.”

That attitude is exactly how Conrad approached acting in the first place. The Pittsburgh native never intended to become an actor but fell into the industry almost by accident.

“In college, I just auditioned for something out of the blue and I got the role, so I ended up falling into doing theatre in college even though I didn’t major in it,” he recalls. “It was literally, like, I walked in the door, ‘Hey, I’ve never done this before; let’s try this.’ They gave me the part and the rest was just staying in a place where somebody wanted you. That was really it. It wasn’t like, ‘I want to be an actor!’ it was just, ‘Hey, they like me.'”

Conrad continued his stage career, starring in several Shakespeare productions and various Tom Stoppard plays, before landing a lead role on the ABC drama Relativity. The show only lasted one season, but the exposure helped Conrad secure appearances on shows like Boston Public and Miss Match before finally landing his most well-known role as Jim on Ghost Whisperer in 2005. But despite his fame on the small screen, Conrad returns to the stage whenever he can.

“Almost all filmmaking is so controlled by economic forces or just the simple nature of the media. All the machines, lights, all of the cameras, have to be lugged around, it breaks up the process by which you make a performance. The scripts are rewritten by 20 people — after a while, by the nature of the way the economics are set up, I think it kind of dumbs it down. In theatre, you walk out on the stage and it’s just you. A couple of people tell you what to do, they put lights on you, and you just do it for two or three hours. There’s something great about that. It’s simple, liberating. I have to say that I prefer that kind of freedom.”

Not surprisingly, however, Conrad is most frequently recognized for Ghost Whisperer — now more than ever.

“I get stopped in airports all the time. People had said things to me before, but this was a little funny,” he says, laughing. “Most of them are like, ‘Whee! We like this!’ or ‘You’ve gotta get back to her!'”

But for Conrad, whatever the fan response, he’s just happy to see Ghost Whisperer doing so well after four years on the air.

“It’s been a good season for us. Not too many series have a jump in their fourth year. It’s rare,” he says. “After four years, you’re tired, the crew’s tired. And then, to say, ‘Wow, we’re No. 15 for the week,’ that’s a great thing. It’s like, okay, cool. We can keep doing this.”

Ghost Whisperer Episode Recap: 4.18 “Leap of Faith”

Yesterday’s Ghost Whisperer episode should satisfy many fans, Jim may still be in Sam’s body, but he now remembers he is really Jim, and thankfully he has forgotten how mean he was to Melinda about her gift. It was an amazing episode!

There is a lot of wonder about how Jim remembered his past life. It is not a rebirth or baptism from the water as many suggested. While he was swimming that long distance, Sam/Jim went sort of unconscious, it was in that state between the conscious and unconscious, that he was able to tap into his subconscious, where all his memories of being Jim was stored although repressed from the trauma and shock of entering another body. Of course, being stuck and the pipes noise triggered memories of being of shot, because the noise was similar and tugged on the arm that was injured.

Now that Melinda and Jim and back together, now for the baby!

I didn’t want to put a spoiler in the headline, so it was either “Ghost Whisperer: The episode we’ve been waiting for!” or “Ghost Whisperer: … Yay!” If you saw the promo for last night’s show in which David Conrad… Read More

‘Ghost Whisperer’: A rebirth. From the sewer.

Source: Zap2it.com Recaps

Ghostwhispererlove_l

On “Ghost Whisperer”… Jim/Sam takes a literal leap of faith into a water-filled sewer to save Melinda’s life and Melinda & Jim emerge from the sewer as a brand new (old) couple. And Dr. Byrd is around to creep us all right the hell out.

Melinda tells Delia that she doesn’t think she loves Jim/Sam anymore because Jim had faith in her and Sam doesn’t and she can’t live without that. Melinda leaves to go pick something up at the store. Ominous thunder and lightning crash and none of the lights work. Spooky. I hope there’s not a man with a hook for a hand in the Gorton’s Fisherman outfit waiting for her.

Turns out there is a mechanic named Ben, not a ghost, in the store. At least, he’s solid enough to knock over a vase. Melinda chases him (and she has the good sense to kick off her shoes) as he runs through a hole in the basement wall. Dr. Byrd then tells her there’s “more where he came from. How safe do you feel now?” Creepsville.

It turns out Ben is a “step-in” like Jim/Sam. A man named Joseph stepped into Ben’s body when he died and now Ben has all these old memories for Joseph’s life. Dr. Byrd encouraged Joseph to do it because he is essentially running experiments on step-ins so that he himself can successfully become a step-in one day. Again: Dr. Byrd is the creepiest creeper who ever creeped.

Part of Ben’s memories from Joseph’s life include his wife Clarissa. He is essentially stalking her, so Melinda and Eli go to Ben’s apartment to talk to him about it. At Ben’s apartment, Melinda and Eli find the walls papered with names from Joseph’s old life. They explain to Ben what has happened to him and how his memories are from Joseph. Melinda tells him they’ll talk to Clarissa for him. Naturally, Clarissa is skeptical. Ben overhears her disbelief and runs off through the town tunnels, eventually bursting a pipe in a fit of rage and filling up the room in which he is trapped with fast-rising water.

Ben narrowly escapes through a hatch in the ceiling, but Melinda is not so lucky. She gets trapped on a catwalk as the water gets closer and closer. Dr. Byrd goes to get help from Eli, who happens to run into Jim. Jim is skeptical but he can’t leave his damsel in distress so he jumps into the sewers to help Eli, who conveniently can’t really swim. Jim takes a “leap of faith” to dive in after Melinda.

As he swims for her, all sorts of Jim’s memories flash through his head. The swim seems to go on for like 5 minutes. I start to wonder if they show is just going to drown them both. The End. But no, Jim has a near drowning and when he emerges he wonders why Melinda keeps calling him Sam. Melinda tearfully hugs him and they climb out of the sewer together. Like the rebirth of their relationship. From the sewer. Romantic.

Melinda debriefs with Ben/Joseph about her reunion with Jim. He also thanks her for helping him make sense of his life and vows to start moving on with his life now. Dr. Byrd finally says he’ll stop encouraging ghosts to commandeer other people’s bodies, which is nice of him, and goes into the light.

Finally, Melinda, Delia, Ned and Eli take Jim home. Eli blathers on about rebirth and Melinda shows Jim his new visage. He freaks a little but they cry and kiss and it’s all sweet.  Delia, Ned and Eli hug on the porch. Happy endings all around.

Also Episode 4.18 Leap of Faith March 13, 2009 is a major turning point for the Melinda/Jim/Sam storyline: A TV Guide said that Melinda gets trapped in a flood and Sam is her only hope of rescue. He risks his life to save her, and it transforms him “physically and mentally”.

UPDATED: After weeks of twists and turns, Jennifer Love Hewitt will indeed get rescued on an upcoming episode of “Ghost Whisperer”. Pinned in by a flood, Melinda (played by Hewitt) is saved by her reincarnated husband Sam (played by David Conrad). “He rescues Melinda against his better logic,” Conrad leaked to “TV Guide”, admitting, however, that Sam is “transformed on that journey.” “It’s both a physical and a mental transformation.” “It’s going to be really fun and really big and really satisfying,” insists exec producer P.K. Simonds. Catch the pivotal “Ghost Whisperer” installment next Friday night on CBS.
