Melrose Place – Casting News

Looks like Melrose Place is getting more tenants – Josie Bissett is returning to her old haunt as a guest star, PEOPLE confirms. Bissett reprises her role as Jane Andrews Mancini, sister to Laura Leighton’s Sydney Andrews, in at least one episode and may do more, according to a source. Bissett joins original Melrose castmates Leighton and Thomas Calabro when the new incarnation airs on the CW network this fall. Meanwhile Bissett’s ex-husband, Rob Estes (also a former Melrose alum), appears on the CW in 90210. Source: People

Daphnezuniga Remember low key photographer Jo Reynolds, “Melrose” fans? Of course you do. Ms. Daphne Zuniga — maybe better known to the younger crowd as Brooke Davis’ bitch of a mom on “One Tree Hill” — will reprise the role of Jo on The CW’s “Melrose Place” spin off this fall. Zuniga will guest in two episodes, the network confirms. Wonder if her storyline will intersect with Michael, Jane or dearly departed Sydney’s?

A ‘90210’ Actor May Cross Over to ‘Melrose Place’

The executives have been talking about the possibility to bring over an established character on ‘90210’ to jack up the rating of new ‘Melrose Place’.

A '90210' Actor May Cross Over to 'Melrose Place'
See larger image The talks about a crossover event between “” and “” are heating up with the latest scoop from TV Guide suggesting that it would be a ‘he’. Questions were thrown about which character from “90210” will help to revamp the spin-off to ’90s “Melrose Place”. Ryan Eggold, who plays Ryan Matthews, has been deemed to be ‘the chosen one’. In response to this, Eggold said, “You know, I’ve been hearing this and I don’t know if it’s true either. But it will be fun to play this character Ryan as a twenty something in a show like that. Just to kind of open him up a little bit. I’d love to sort of check out a different passage of Ryan.” The first hint of a crossover came from Naomi Clark depicter on “90210”, . She said last month, “The producers have actually mentioned that to us. We don’t know who or where or what or when yet, but they want that very much.” Back in 1992, made a crossover to the original “Melrose Place” while she was playing Kelly Taylor on “Beverly Hills 90210”. Both “90210” and “Melrose Place” will premiere on September 8 on The CW.

MAJOR spoiler alert: ‘Melrose’ twist revealed!

Source: The Ausiello Files

Melroseplacefight_lMelrose Place is back to its old dirty tricks. The CW’s forthcoming reboot of the classic ’90s sudser will launch this fall with the kind of bombshell revelation that would make Kimberly Shaw’s legendary scar bust open. Unfortunately, unlike that iconic cliffhanger, there ain’t a chance in hell this twist will remain unspoiled before it airs in September. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing leaks in the next week or so. Or today. Or right now after the jump. (Yes, that was your warning. Seriously, this is a gigantic spoiler, so head for the exit if you don’t want to know the bombshell at the center of Melrose 2.0.)

The Melrose pilot — snippets of which were unveiled to advertisers at The CW’s upfront presentation this morning — has been shrouded in the kind of secrecy more typical of an episode of Lost than a trashy primetime soap. “The pilot script isn’t being released to anyone — not even to writers who are meeting on the show,” an industry insider recently whispered. “There’s apparently some twist involving Sydney that they’re trying to keep under wraps.”

It’s under wraps no more: Someone murdered Sydney! Again!

Sources confirm that the dead body found floating face down in Melrose‘s trademark pool in the opening minutes belongs to none other than Laura Leighton’s bitchtastic ex-stripper. I’m told her death will set in motion a season-long murder mystery that finds nearly all of the show’s principal characters — particularly Syd’s ex, Michael (Thomas Calabro) — a possible suspect.

I know what you’re probably thinking: They brought Sydney back to life only to kill her off in the first 10 minutes?! Sorta. Yes, she dies (for real) right out of the gate, but Leighton will be sticking around. An insider confirms that Sydney will be seen via flashback in multiple episodes. Said flashbacks will explain where’s she’s been and what really happened after she became road kill more than a decade ago.

I know what you’re also probably thinking: Is this the story Heather Locker was pitched and ultimately turned down? Yes, that was supposed to be Amanda Woodward’s bloodied corpse floating in the pool. But when Locklear nixed the offer, producers approached Leighton. (Mystery solved: Locklear killed Sydney!)

Thoughts on the latest bomb dropped in TV’s most famous courtyard? Does this make you more or less excited to see Melrose 2.0? And are you relieved Locklear turned her back on the gig since this means Amanda will live to raise hell another day? Sound off below!

‘Melrose Place’: I’ve got the pilot script & I’m answering all your Sydney questions

Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV

Is Sydney dead again? Is the “Melrose” spin off murdering her within the first few minutes of its pilot episode? Well, I happen to have the highly-classified script in my hot little hands and will be answering every “Melrose”-related question that’s come my way today. Ew, stop drooling…

Need your help confirming this is NOT true: There is a rumor that Sydney is dead in the pool in the Melroseopening. Please tell me they are not doing something this stupid. Um, she’s the main reason we want to watch it!
Yes, sadly — as reported on Friday — this seems to be the case. I had the great fortune of receiving and reading the script, which has been shrouded in secrecy, a few weeks back and when I reached the last line and there had been no mention of my girl Sydney, I had the startling realization that the chick they’d been calling by another name throughout the 50 plus pages was really the red-headed baby sister of Ms. Jane Mancini. And the realization was startling because, yes, this character is found face down dead in the pool just as Act 1 ends.

You have to explain this rumor that Sydney is killed at the very beginning of the new “Melrose Place”! How is that possible? She’s not going to be on the new series? She’s not going to even be in the first episode that much? I’m confused. Sydney — who’s probably just called by another name in the script I have because it was written before Laura Leighton signed on… though I suppose it’s possible that Syd’s trying to conceal her identity — appears throughout the episode in flashbacks both before and after her death and word is that she will continue to. Her murder is apparently the season-long mystery which must be solved.

Who is the blonde kid that Sydney is getting sexy with in the “Melrose Place” pictures you posted?
That would be David (Shaun Sipos) , the 21-year-old rich dude whom we see with Syd pre-pool scene. Definite suspect, but one that’s way too obvious. Plus, he seems to care about her quite a bit. In the script, he’s busy banging some hot blonde in a public bathroom when he gets an urgent text from her, pulls his pants up and rushes to her side. And that night, she tells him she’s done something terrible. She says that she didn’t mean to hurt anyone, but she was “trapped” …And hours later, she’s dunzo. By the way, David’s last name is “Patterson” in the script I have, linking him to Jake Hansen (Grant Show), but they’re now giving the character a new last name. David’s jerk of a father is in the pilot and he ain’t Jake.

Does Ryan Matthews from “90210” make the cross over to “Melrose Place”? It looks like he lives in a building with a courtyard pool!
Ryan doesn’t appear in the pilot script that I read, but I do believe CW Pres Dawn Ostroff said they are contemplating crossovers. Maybe he killed Sydney!

Is it me or does Ashlee Simpson look like a completely different person in the pictures for the new “Melrose Place”]?
Yeah, I think it’s the red hair she’s rocking that’s making her somewhat unrecognizable. And that red hair is no coincidence. Her character has got those colored locks for a reason…

New Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers & Previews: Mer-Der & Lexie-Mark

Grey’s Anatomy: Will Eric Stoltz Murder MerDer?

Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, Eric Stoltz, Ellen Pompeo ABC/SCOTT GARFIELD; ABC/RANDY HOLMES; ABC

Oh, dear.

I just spoke exclusively with Eric Stoltz about his upcoming three-episode guest arc on Grey’s Anatomy, and what he told me about his death-row inmate character sounds downright ominous for Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey)?

Could one of our heroes be in real danger? Get the dish directly from Eric himself…

Eric teases about his character’s purpose: “I would have to say that I insinuate myself in between Mer and Der in a way that isn’t exactly helpful.”

Um, is that because when you put a loaded gun on a table in the first act you have to fire it in the third act, and by extension, if you put a killer in the first episode, he’s got to kill someone in the third episode?

Says Eric (with a fair amount of feigned affrontery) about that prospect, “I’m not about to tell you what happens! Why would anyone do that? I wouldn’t want to know what happens!” (No wonder Shonda Rhimes loves the man!)

Seriously though, who is this fellow, and how does he fit into Seattle Grace? As Eric tells it, “My character’s name is William Dunn, and he’s a death-row inmate who came to be at Seattle Grace by the fact that he has a shiv shoved in his back during a fight in the prison yard. The nature of his crime is actually revealed in the show that airs on Thursday night, so I would hate to give it away right now.”

Shonda Rhimes ABC

Shonda Rhimes invited Eric to appear in front of the camera after his second directorial outing on the show. But the opportunity wasn’t what he expected. He says, “My massive ego took over and I, of course, thought [the part] was a romantic hero, someone to come and save the day. When Shonda told me it was a death-row inmate, I was a little bit stunned.”

However, Shonda did her usual magic and convinced Stoltz it was still an intriguing part: “She said that people who do truly evil things usually are not evil 24 hours a day. They have friends, they have a life. You should really hate this man for all that he does, but because that part is so well-written, that character gradually works itself into your subconscious, and some deep, disturbing recognition happens.” Hmmm…

Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey ABC/Vivian Zink

As for the rest of the transition from director to actor, it was a little…rocky. As Eric tells it, “The cast had some fun at my expense when they realized I was no longer directing and I was merely acting, handcuffed to a bed. Some of them took advantage of that and sadly, in a cast filled with attractive and talented women, I think the person who took the most advantage of my position was Patrick Dempsey. More than once, that man gave me noogies and tickled my feet.”

Tickle attack by Patrick Dempsey? You could have worse problems.

Now, what do you think this William Dunn character has in store for MerDer? Are you worried, or are you just excited that your favorite pairing will get some serious screen time? Post in the comments!

Grey’s Anatomy returns with all-new episodes this Thursday, Jan. 8, at 9 p.m. on ABC!

Grey’s Anatomy: Can Mark Escape Lexie’s Pull?

Sorry, Mark and Lexie haters, but that couple is a go. They seem to be progressing…and fast. From the looks of the sneak peek above, plus the morning-after sneak peek you can see inside, they might even have a genuine love connection.

What else can you expect in Thursday’s all-new Grey’s Anatomy? Well, as you’ll see in the clips below, Jessica Capshaw joins the crew as a saucy pediatric surgeon, Eric Stoltz makes his first appearance as a patient from death row, and one other thing happens…what is it?

Oh yeah: Izzie finally tells Alex about Denny. Aaah!

See how that goes down…

Gossip Girl Spoilers 2.11: More Previews “The Magnificent Archibalds”

Lily trying to convince Jenny that Rufus loves her and Blair reminding that ‘Serena doesn’t share’ in two ‘Gossip Girl’ clips.

Two scenes from the November 17 episode of “” are released. Titled “The Magnificent Archibalds”, the episode is taking on the family rift between Jenny and her father, Rufus, and also Lily coming to their rescue. Jenny is ready to cut all sorts of communication with Rufus if she doesn’t get her way but Lily decides to make a peace treaty for them by taking Jenny in her house. This will be previewed in the first clip.

The second clip is a phone conversation between Blair and Serena. The former who complains about her mother’s new boyfriend who breaks all of Waldorf tradition during Thanksgiving and the latter who complains on her new lover’s past. Blair is baking in keeping the dinner tradition at home while Serena is trying to come clean with the fact that Aaron has a female friend whom he’s close with.

Also in the Thanksgiving episode, Dan accidentally reveals a few tidbits of his past on his own as well as Blair and Chuck coming to their friend’s aid when Nate is once again forced to confront his father’s abandonment, as he finally returns from abroad. Vanessa becomes depressed upon hearing that Nate is leaving New York with his father, but she doesn’t hear that from Nate himself. Finally, Eric discovers a secret that Bart has been keeping from Lily. — Ace Showbiz

Gossip Girl Sneaks: ‘Tis the Season of Pie and Tears

It’s Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side, a time when everyone is reminded of the family ties that bind and gag.

As you can see above, Blair’s building herself an old-fashioned family holiday—she has no family this year, but at least there’s always the divine Dorota.

Plus, in the two other sneak peek video clips below, Lily heroically tries to keep Rufus and Little J from breaking up forever, and Dan oh-so-helpfully tries to explain Serena to her new love interest, Aaron Rose. That goes great, and by great I mean terrible and awkward…

Given a good helping of Chuck and Blair action (not to mention stuffing and many kinds of pie), I think this feast of drama might be the best Gossip Girl episode yet.

America's Next Top Model - cycle 11 cast

When you watch America’s Next Top Model tonight, keep this in mind: Both of the Jays already know the winner!

Kristin at E!Online spoke with the fabulous Mr. Jay Manuel and Miss J. Alexander, and they gave her the following clues on the “obvious” girl who’ll be victorious this season…

Jay Manuel Chris Polk / Getty Images

“I called the winner of this cycle on day one,” Mr. Jay said. “I knew it.”

“We both did,” Miss J revealed. “We both knew who would win right away. It was obvious!”

Who is the obvious choice? Isis? Elina? Clark?

In the meantime, don’t expect any clear indication from the Jays on who they’re rooting for during the episodes. “Trust me, whenever it’s kind of obvious they cut it out because they don’t want us to give it up, but I did call this winner,” insisted Mr. Jay

Jay Alexander The CW

“What happens sometimes [is that] when I scream excitement over a girl,” added Miss J, “she never gets chosen, because the producers think it’s too obvious. So I don’t do that anymore. I keep it to myself now.”

So what about Isis, the show’s first transgender contestant? Could she be the one?

“The amazing thing with Isis is that if there is one industry that can really embrace someone who is transgender, it would be the fashion industry,” noted Jay Manuel.

Guess we’d better not rule her out yet, though it should be noted Isis hasn’t exactly been wowing the judges lately. Instead, look tonight for the girl who doesn’t get much commentary from the judges at all…

Kristin believes it might be Elina.

Pushing Daisies & Chuck “Fall’s No. 1 Best Bets” Spoilers & Previews!

Kristin at E!Online has named Pushing Daisies & Chuck “Fall’s No. 1 Best Bets

Pushing Daisies, Chuck ABC/KATE TURNING, Mitchell Haaseth/NBC

Wed., Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. on ABC

Pushing Daisies Refresher: The facts are these: Ned the pie maker (Lee Pace) can restore the dead to life with just the touch of a finger. But if he doesn’t re-dead them within a minute (with another touch) an innocent bystander goes to the great beyond instead.

There are two major figures in Ned’s life whom he has failed to send back to the big sleep: his dog Digby and his childhood sweetheart Charlotte Charles (Anna Friel). Oh yeah, and private detective Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) has blackmailed Ned into helping him solve crimes (for a tidy fee). And then there’s Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth), who works as a waitress at the Pie Hole (the bakery where Ned bakes his delicious pies) and nurses a fairly major infuation with Ned, who in turn only has eyes for Charlotte (aka “Chuck”), the girl whom he would instantly kill were they ever to touch again (which puts quite a crimp in the ol’ sex life). And lest we forget, this is also the story of Chuck’s aunts who raised her, Aunt Lily (Swoosie Kurtz) and Aunt Vivian (Ellen Greene) live alone together in rambling old Victorian mansion where they grieve over Chuck’s death (ignorant of the fact that Ned has revivified her) and keep their secrets (for example, Aunt Lily is actually Chuck’s mother, not her aunt).

It sounds crazy, and it totally is, but this television fever dream has a rainbow palette, the heart of a fairy tale and creative daring unlike few other shows on TV. Want to know more? Read my original writeup on the many (many!) virtues of Pushing Daisies from when it premiered last fall.

Pushing Daisies Resurrection Plan: Season two of Pushing Daisies delivers more family drama as well as bringing more singing and spectacular set pieces. Olive Snook can’t stand keeping everyone’s secrets, so she leaves the Pie Hole and secludes herself in a nunnery. Chuck begins an investigation of her own—into the fate of her parents. And Ned tries to find a way to be with Chuck without, you know, killing her. As genius creator Bryan Fuller recently told me, “Chuck and Ned are meant to be together, that’s the relationship to root for.” Indeed!

Mon., Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. on NBC

Chuck Dossier: When this series from Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak launched last year, Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi), a mild-mannered nerd in the middle of an extended quarter-life crisis, accidentally absorbed the entire contents of the NSA-CIA intelligence database into his brain. That means that now when he sees certain faces or objects, the supercomputer inside his skull instantly sets off alarms in his head and sends him off to fight the bad guys of the world, with his handlers, gorgeous CIA agent Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and grumpy-cool NSA agent Casey (Adam Baldwin) in tow.

More capable as an agent than he realizes, Chuck still lacks confidence in his personal life, despite the undying admiration and devotion of his best friend Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and a series of not-quite-helpful pep talks from his more-secure sister Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and her perfectly perfect surgeon/dude boyfriend Captain Awesome (Ryan McPartlin).

Chuck New-Data Download: In the immortal words of Michael Corleone (and Veronica Mars): “Just when I thought that I was out, they pull me back in.” And that’s probably more or less what Chuck Bartowski is thinking by the end of the season premiere.

Despite the best efforts of the NSA and the CSI, this season Chuck remains the intelligence community’s most important asset, so he must continue to engage in high-stakes espionage while repressing his feelings for Sarah (Yvonne Stra-HOT-ski, as we all like to call her), trying to change his everyday life (the computer service desk at Buy More, believe it or not, is not the happiest place on Earth), and continuing to hide his secret life from his friends and family.

I’ve seen the first three episodes of season two, and Chuck has shaken off any initial, first-season jitters, turning into a confident, supercute (albeit clumsy and underprepared) superagent. Chuck is a totally fun and funny adventure comedy series that you will instantly enjoy, and this season is beefed up with better writing, more fully developed characters and several neat guest star appearances by the likes of Michael Clarke Duncan, John Larroquette, Melinda Clarke and, yes, Nicole Richie herself. This one is worth investigating…I promise. I truly, madly, deeply loved the season premiere—please check it out!
