The Vampire Diaries Episode Recap: “As I Lay Dying”Season 2, Episode 22

Can you believe it’s already the season finale of The Vampire Diaries? While last week’s episode proved to be pretty epic and extremely tragic, it was hard to imagine the finale would top it.  But it did.

Damon tries to apologize (rather sincerely I might add) to Elena for making her feed on his blood and says, “I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I need it.” Elena tells him she needs time. So, off Damon goes. He takes a drink and then stands in the sun with his ring off and burns. Stefan shows up to rescue Damon and tells him he cannot kill himself. “What’s the plan, Superman?” Damon jokes. Even while dying he’s funny!

Klaus wakes up and Elijah is there with him. It’s been two days, Elijah says, since Klaus went on a rampage, and during that time he learned he can change at will from a wolf to vamp. Elijah asks where the bodies of their family are, but now that Klaus is super-hybrid powerful, getting that answer won’t be so easy.

Stefan fills Elena in on Damon’s wolf bite and says that because he made Damon turn in the first place, he owes it to him to find a cure. So Stefan goes to find Klaus, because Bonnie learned from channeling her witches that he’s the only key to a cure. Figures. Stefan first goes to Katherine’s, but soon after, Klaus and Elijah walk in. Just as Stefan pleads for their help, Klaus turns around and stabs his brother. So Elijah dies yet again, but this time I’m pretty sure it’s for real. Oh, Daniel Gillies, how you wouldn’t even hint that to me. Klaus reminds Stefan about the guy he used to be and although Stefan says he hasn’t been like that in a long time, Klaus says that’s the kind of vampire he wants to work with. Then, Klaus bites Katherine from his werewolf side, but then feeds her blood which makes it go away. The cure is Klaus’ blood. Of course it is.

The most annoyingly frustrating character of the night goes to Sheriff Forbes who first takes Elena hostage, and then tries to go after Damon. She finds Damon in the Grill with Jeremy and goes to shoot him, but Damon quickly moves leaving Jeremy with the wound. Caroline and Bonnie soon show up and Caroline tries to feed him her blood to save him as her mother watches in shock and despair over what she’s just done. Bonnie takes Jeremy away into her witch lair and attempts a spell to save Jeremy. She soon learns the witches are angry with her, but Bonnie pleads for her ancestor Emily to help. As the lights flicker out and Bonnie begins to bleed, Jeremy’s eyes open to reveal the power worked.

Back at Klaus’ place, he bottles up his blood for Stefan to prove that he might think of giving it to him if Stefan does as he’s asked. Klaus tosses him a bag of blood and makes him start drinking. After consuming bags of blood, Klaus says he wants them to leave town together and Stefan then essentially makes a deal with the devil. Klaus tosses his bottled blood to Katherine and tells her she can bring it to Damon.

As Damon is on his deathbed, Elena is by his side, even though he had just bitten her, mistaking her for Katherine. “All those years I blamed Stefan, no one forced me to love her. It was my own choice… Tell Stefan I’m sorry,” Damon says to Elena. He also tells her that he deserves to die but that he’s OK with everything because if he had chosen a different path he never would’ve met her. Elena forgives him and Damon finally says I love you, without compelling her to forget. “You should’ve met me in 1864; you would’ve liked me,” he says struggling for every breath. “I like you now… just the way you are,” she says. And then the moment many of us have been waiting for, Elena gives him a kiss. Not a passionate, “take me now” kiss, but one that shows she really does care for him. Too bad Katherine arrives and ruins the moment. But the good news is she has the blood. She hands it over and tells them that Stefan has sacrificed everything.”Good thing you have Damon to keep you company,” she says before adding, “It’s OK to love them both; I did.”

Klaus has his minions put Elijah in a casket and then tells Stefan he has a gift for him. He brings out a girl and we all know what’s about to go down. “I want to make sure you’ll honor our deal,” Klaus says as he bites her and then tells Stefan to do the same. And he does. Stefan bites into the innocent girl, kills her, and as he looks up it’s almost as if he has the slightest smirk remembering how good the human blood tastes. “Now we can go,” Klaus says.

In the final scene, Jeremy wakes up and gets out of bed upon hearing noises. As he walks down the stairs, Vicki (who died in Season 1) is following him, and then Anna (who also died) shows up. Jeremy sees the dead vampires and calls out their names. Is he dead? Is he a vampire? Is he a witch? Is he dreaming? What is he?

The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Spoilers!

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Next season, the appearance of the villainous Katherine in Mystic Falls throws a wrench into the love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon, and the other residents of Mystic Falls must choose sides as they fall victim to a new breed of danger. New and unexpected friendships will be forged, allies will become enemies, and hearts will be broken. Stefan and Damon will be forced to face a villain more evil and diabolical than they ever believed possible. And they’ll take their shirts off.  Frequently.

Vampire Diaries – new season 2 spoilers

In season 2, the Stefan/Elena/Damon will evolve into a Stefan/Katherine/Elena/Damon quadrangle and surprisingly it will be Stefan, NOT Damon, who will be the most affected by Katherine’s return: it will turn out he’s not as over her as he thought he was. Elena will come to come to terms with the fact that she may have developed feelings that are more than friendly towards Damon. Damon, on the other hand, will be busy devising a plan with the Council of the Founding Fathers to take down Katherine.
And yes, werewolves will be introduced next season and one of them (probably Tyler?) will connect with a certain witch (Bonnie?) while trying to deal with how to cope with their supernatural abilities.

Vampire Diaries or Bieber Diaries?

Beiber would be an interesting add to the teeny bopper program. Although he’s an incredibly popular 16 year old, he could also be the son of 44% of Vampire Diaries fans, who are females over 35. This over 35 crowd may be more interested in the next celebrity whose name is being put out in the media. Nina Dobrev was reported in a UK broadsheet as wanting Ralph Fiennes to appear in the show. She is quoted as saying Fiennes “would be brilliant at being a vampire.”
The Vampire Diaries will soon begin filming again in Covington, Georgia – aka Mystic Falls, Virginia. Twenty one episodes have been filmed thus far in this quaint metro Atlanta town. The media, entranced as always with the popular show, is batting about names of celebrities who may or may not appear in the next season.
The Beiber rumor appears to have some truth to it; reportedly his people have talked to Vampire Diaries people about a small role, though nothing is being confirmed yet. The same report claims the Vampire Diaries staff initiated the contact.
The link between the show and Beiber has additional credence after Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennett, shows up in Beiber’s latest music video dancing to “Somebody to Love.”

The Vampire Diaries – Elena and Katherine to Faceoff

Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and The Patty Duke Show all did it way back in the ’60s, and next season on The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev’s Elena will make her onscreen debut on the same screen with Nina Dobrev’s Katherine, who made her dramatic return to Mystic Falls posing as Elena in May’s season finale.
“I can’t talk much about it yet,” says executive producer Julie Plec, “but one of the big surprises is that Katherine comes face to face with Elena.”
How does Nina feel about playing both Elena and her 19th century doppelgänger in the same scenes? “I will have to ask for a second pay check,” kids the 21-year-old, who as a child marveled over Lindsay Lohan’s dual performance in The Parent Trap. While special effects have advanced a thousandfold since Elizabeth Montgomery’s Samantha/Serena face-offs on Bewitched, Nina is still worried about emoting opposite a stand-in tennis ball when the series resumes production in July. “It will be difficult because a lot of acting is reacting to the other person, but it’ll be fun to step out of my comfort zone.”
Nina’s not the only one who’ll be given a tough acting assignment. Having the look-alike ladies in the same town will also force Ian Somerhalder to play two different sides of Damon. “It’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster for me,” Ian predicts. “Damon, with Katherine, is this youthful wide-eyed fun guy who is so intrigued by her — so different from the maniacal, more mature Damon you see with Elena.”

Vampire Diaries Season Finale Spoilers: Founder’s Day Death!

Vampire Diaries – Revised Sweeps Poster

Vampire Diaries
8/7c CW
Isobel and John (who were revealed to be Elena’s real birth parents last week) attempt to carry out their devious plan to kill Stefan and Damon in the first-season finale. Everything comes crashing down as Mystic Falls celebrates its annual Founder’s Day event, with Caroline leading the festivities as the reigning queen. And, of course, there is tension between Elena and Bonnie since Bonnie didn’t remove the spell from the deadly device that can harm vampires like she promised. This is one festival that is sure to end with lots of fireworks. — Tim Holland, TVGuide.com

Question: Some Damon and Elena scoop, please? After last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, I am so on board with this couple. Stefan who?
Michael Ausiello:
Exec producer Kevin Williamson coughed up the following tease about this Thursday’s season finale that may or may not pertain to Damon and Elena: “One vampire will be forced to reconcile his humanity when it becomes impossible to deny his feelings for one very human girl.” KW goes on to tease that “Founder’s Day will serve as the backdrop for the final showdown between the tomb vampires and the town council — placing all of our characters in deadly jeopardy.” In related news, I can confirm that two of the 18 confirmed fatality slots on my May Sweeps Scorecard are reserved for VD characters.

SEASON FINALE

“THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” – (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

“Founder’s Day” (CONTENT RATING TBD) (HDTV)

FOUNDER’S DAY TURNS DEADLY – Founder’s Day has finally arrived, and everyone is busy with last-minute preparations for floats and fireworks. Stefan (Paul Wesley) is uncomfortable with Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) new attitude toward Elena (Nina Dobrev), but Elena is more concerned about repairing her relationship with Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Jeremy is worried about Anna (guest star Malese Jow), but not sure he’s on board with her latest plan for the future. While Caroline (Candice Accola) is enjoying her day as Queen of the celebration, she also tries to help Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) get their friendship back on track. Finally, although Damon and Alaric (Matt Davis) do their best to stop him, Johnathan Gilbert (guest star David Anders) sets a plan in motion that brings Founder’s Day to an end amid chaos, destruction and death. Sara Canning and Katerina Graham also star. Marcos Siega directed the episode written by Bryan Oh & Andrew Chambliss.

They wouldn’t kill Alaric in the season finale of The Vampire Diaries, would they? Matt Davis is my favorite on that show!
MICKEY: “I had a lovely conversation with Kevin Williamson a week or so ago about the future of Alaric, and I must say, it looks bright,” the artist formerly known as Warner Huntington III told us. So it seems he’ll survive the season finale’s apocalyptic Founder’s Day celebration. In fact, we’re hearing that Davis might be promoted to a series regular in the fall. Source: TV Guide

How about a tiny little something on how the season finale actually and truly ends? Can you handle it? OK, proceed to read: A source tells me the very last face you will see before the screen fades to black belongs to… Elena. Will she be screaming in agony as she is buried alive? Laughing at a good joke? Overcome with ecstasy as she couples with Damon? This, we do not know.

Vampire Diaries – latest from Eonline Alaric to survive season 1

Tick tock the clock is counting down to the season finale where at least one series regular will die for good. Eonline has added Alaric to the safe list which also includes Elena ,Stefan, Tyler and Damon. This leaves Jeremy, Jenna, Matt, Caroline and Bonnie in danger. Please note that other characters like Pearl or Anna could also die as a secondary death.

Here’s what Eonline had to say:

I think Matt Davis is awesome on The Vampire Diaries. They aren’t going to kill him off, are they?
Thanks to Alaric’s fancy lifesaving ring (take that, Damon!), and the producers feeling the same as you, I’m told that Matt is sticking around. No plans to off him.

How about some news on Damon on TVD? I’m kind of wanting him to go back to being evil. Will his good side stick around long?I’m told he’ll always be in a gray area, between good and evil. And hello, he has done plenty of evil things as of late, including slaughtering (he thought) Alaric and snapping his kindly neighbor woman’s neck! If you don’t think that’s evil, I hope you don’t live on my street.

I love that Jeremy’s not in the dark on The Vampire Diaries anymore. What’s ahead for him?
Jeremy and vampire Anna will find their way back to each other, even though she bailed when she learned about the whole Vicki situation. Sadly for J, his relationship with this little lady doesn’t end up much better than the latter.

Vampire Diaries – SpoilerTV exclusive on your burning questions

IMDB has Kayla Ewall listed for episodes 21,22 and all of season 2 is she coming back?
IMDB is wrong currently there are no plans to bring her back.

What happened to Bonnie’s cousin?
Bonnie wasn’t originally supposed to be absent for so long but they decided to cancel the plotline with her cousin at least for now. That lead to the big Bonnie hiatus, she will be back next episode though and will be in every episode till the season finale.

Is the Tyler werewolf plotline going to go somewhere anytime soon?
Unfortunately, Tyler won’t even be in the next two episodes, the episode after that is all about Isobel and then theres just the season finale so they really have no time to truely explore the werewolf plot this season, but you can be sure that it will be a major plotline in season 2!

Did Kelly Donovan leave?
Yes, that subplot is done for now, Matt is also taking a break for the next two episodes.

I miss the flashback episodes are we getting another one?
Yes episode 20 includes lots of flashbacks with Katherine and co.

I miss Bonnie, any scoop on her?
The Bonnie that returns next week is a changed person, the death of her grandmother deeply affected her. Look for things to get really tense between her and Stefan as she goes all out against their relationship.

Will the identity of Elena’s biological father be addressed?
The show will explore the possibility of John Gilbert being Elena’s father.

Is the season finale going to end in a big twist?
There will be several HUGE shockers in the finale. According to in the season finale
TVGUIDE there will be nine “oh my God” moments
