See larger image A highly-anticipated first look to “” season 9 has been released exclusively via Entertainment Weekly. The trailer shows the changes in Clark, how he handles bigger problems and how he is “embracing” his Kryptonian side, as Chloe puts it. The footage also gives a lot other pivotal scenes including when Daily Planet journalist John Corbet (played by ) wakes up with an artificial heart. But the biggest treat is a peek at Callum Blue’s General Zod telling his people to kneel before him. “I will find an answer we are looking for or I will die in the quest,” Zod in his human form declares. One additional peek is at Cassidy Freeman’s Tess wielding a sword and saying to Clark that it is her only chance to defeat him before he destroys their world. Unlike the rest of the shows debuting on The CW this Fall, “Smallville” premieres the latest with the date set on September 25.

General Spoilers

Smallville – Live Comic-Con Panel

Brian and Kelly just teased that we may see a living Jor-El in the new season. (Eyes peeled in episode 2 for news on that)

Callum Blue tells us he is Major Zod, not general yet. He’s younger and more manic.

Erica says Lois comes back from future w/ amnesia and she’ll be getting flashes she doesn’t understand.

Justin Hartley says Clark and Oliver will never be best friends

Chloe and Clark’s friendship now? “They have a little bit of a rocky start,” so tune in, says Kelly.

Brian says they are thinking of doing a Green Arrow sidekick story as we speak.

Brian: “Just as Clark falls for Lois, she’s falling for someone else.” (Superman, perhaps?)

Q: Is there a chance for love for Clark and Chloe? Allison says that’s “dead in the water” and Clark is a little occupied with other women. Chloe will be dealing with the loss of Jimmy and stepping into more of a powerful position, so she won’t have time for a love interest. “Chloe and Oliver?” Justin wants it!

Q: Will there be a Smallville movie? They didn’t answer. (Hmm, curious that they kept mum).

Man dressed as Superman asks about the new suit Clark wears this season, and mentions that spandex is comfy. Says Kelly: This show is about the origins. They know there is a long arc to become really who Superman becomes. It’s a bumpy road. he’s not going straight to a tailor and figure it out the first time, hence the all black suit.

Justin says we will be seeing a lot more of the Green Arrow this season. “Last year I had a chance to play hime broken down a little bit,” but they jumped out of it and he figured out his problem. We find out this year that Ollie is struggling and that will go on for a while. Brian says in the first eight episodes you “will see him hit rock bottom.”

Q: What new characters from the DC universe this year? Metallo for the first two episodes, return Toyman and Roulette, says Brian.

Kelly says they actually had two different episodes for the season eight finale because they weren’t sure if they would end the show last year. They do have a series finale planned if season nine is the last, but that can change if they are picked up. Brian says they’re not worried about “stalling.”

Geoff Johns just came up to the panel. Geoff says he’s writing another episode. He wrote “Legion.” This year will be “Justice Society of America.” He gets Callum to say “Kneel before Zod.” For everything he’s heard about this season, Geoff says, “It’s going to kickass.”

Q: When is Clark going to fly? Brian says tune in to the season premiere because they address it then.

Tom Welling will be directing two episodes this season. Allison says Tom is her favorite director. He’s very supportive and gets very excited on set. Brian tells us Allison will be directing this season as well.

Q: Is Lex really dead? Brian says we know from mythos that Lex is “absolutely not dead.”

Kelly says you will be seeing more of Erica this season. 18 episodes in total.

Erica on Lois and Clark: “I think you guys are going to be pretty excited this year. lois is dealing with being smitten with Superman and still finds Clark irritating.” This season is going to be “spicy”

Zod returns: “Kneel before Zod!” Callum shown fighting with Tess. Lois is fighting in the future. Chloe with the gun. Oliver and Lois seem to be getting closer. Brian Austin Green looks freaky. Love scene between Lois and Clark. Showing a version of Clark in the future. Was that Lex on screen? Clark in a black cape with the S on his chest.

Sneak peek: Montage of Clark turning into the red/blue blur and his path to becoming a hero. “And he is not alone” Justice League is there with him! Aquaman, Black Canary, Impulse, Cyborg, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl and Green Arrow, plus the Legion. Don’t forget Watch tower.

Comic Con 2009: Clark Has New Suit on ‘Smallville’

For the first time since the show’s premiere, Tom Welling came in support of the panel at San Diego Comic Con.

Comic Con 2009: Clark Has New Suit on 'Smallville' See larger image” was one of the panels at San Diego Comic Con that came up with numerous hints for the new season. The session was attended by the main cast such as , , , , Cassidy Freeman; producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson; as well as new addition Callum Blue. Leading the presentation was a trailer which contains a lot of recap scenes from the previous season and a new footage from the ninth season. One interesting fact shared through the trailer is that Clark will don a new suit which is totally different from the old red and blue. It is pitch black with the silver symbol “S” across the chest, topped with black trench coat. There was also a glimpse of as the new villain, Metallo, whose main source of power is kryptonite.

After the screening and a talk about the stars’ auditions, the discussion moved to how the characters will relate to each other on the new season. Souders revealed Chloe and Clark will be strained, explaining further “They have a little bit of a rocky start.” Mack said their relationship will be “dead in the water” especially with Chloe needing time to recuperate from losing Jimmy. Chloe and Clark also share very little quality time because he will be busy with other females, one of them being Lois. Speaking of her character’s development, Durance spilled “Lois is dealing with being smitten with Superman and still finds Clark irritating.”

Hartley shared that there will be a lot more of Green Arrow on season 9, as in the case of Toyman, Roulette and two other new D.C. characters. Particularly for Arrow, the producers are brewing a story of him as a sidekick although Oliver develops a rift with Clark due to their love for the same woman, Lois. Blue, who is new to the cast to play General Zod, dropped a major hint when he revealed that his Zod comes from way back from “Superman 2”. He has yet to acquire his power and has no idea who Clark Kent is. The young Zod brings troops from Krypton’s past which he cannot quite control. Mack will again take a directing role this season, so will Welling who is now a co-executive producer. Sounders added that they are prepared of a series finale should season 10 is not in order.

Clark Kent’s new nemesis in Smallville’s ninth season will be Phantom Zone reject General Zod, played by 31-year-old Brit Callum Blue, whose credits include Dead Like Me and The Tudors. But seems Supes may have another force to reckon with within his very own junior Justice League. Justin Hartley, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, recently met with his producers who told him, “Oliver will be more and more fed up with the whole [superhero] thing and on a downward spiral. I also hear he may be revisiting the Lois [romance].” Hmm…seems a poison arrow could be headed right through Clark’s heart. Who do you like Lois with? Superman or Green Arrow? Source: TV Guide Magazine

We’re actually hearing of a “strained relationship” between Chloe and Clark next season on Smallville. Those two will always work together, and they will always be your “Chloe and Clark,” but expect some tension in season nine. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Clark Kent is getting a little obsessed as the Red Blue Blur, his budding crime-fighting alias. “He is trying a little too hard to be a hero, and is leaving the rest of his life behind,” executive producer Brian Peterson told the magazine. John Corben (a.k.a. Metallo) is a new reporter at the Daily Planet who ends up with a Kryptonite heart. As for his backstory: “We know that there’s multiple versions of Metallo,” executive producer Kelly Souders explained. “We picked one of the different versions and I think people will realize which one after the first episode.” Regarding Zod: “We had a little peek at who Zod was a couple of seasons ago, which fans will remember. But this a different incarnation of Zod,” Peterson said. “We’re introducing him as Major Zod-this is before he became General Zod.” Souders added that “over the course of the season, the venomous side of Zod rises because he experiences a few key betrayals with our beloved characters.” Source: TV Guide Magazine

According to Justin Hartley, a portion of the ninth season will be about Oliver confronting his demons. “I think he is going to struggle with the things he has been afforded [as a result of] his powers,” he says. “He has sacrificed things and done things that haunt him… It’s bad stuff. We need to get to the bottom of it.” (Michael Ausiello)

The producers say that soon after mild-mannered John Corben (Brian Austin Green) begins his Daily Planet job, his fate takes a horrific twist that will change his destiny forever. (TV Guide)

Kneel Before Zod! Callum Blue Cast as Next Smallville Baddie

The CW confirms that Callum Blue, a British actor you may know from the WB’s short-lived Related or Showtime’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl, has been cast as Phantom Zone baddie Zod for season nine of Smallville. Blue will be a regular next year. As previously reported, Smallville’s other newbie will be Brian Austin Green as baddie Metallo. Terence Stamp played the part in the 1980s Superman film series.

Smallville Movie being planned?

This is being posted as a rumour. Would you like to see Smallville finish with a Movie? Let us know in the comments. If this is hoax, it’s a good one, as it comes with a few bits of convincing detail we are not sharing with you. Someone has written us, claiming to have gotten a glimpse of some signage being prepared for next month’s “Smallville” presentation at Comic-Con. His or her description: On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman “S” watermark behind the text:

METROPOLIS CHRISTMAS 2010

Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place (can’t remember). Other info this untested source sent us suggests “Metropolis” is a movie-length project, and not a new series. Word is “Smallville” will conclude its 9-year run May 2010, so it makes sense that the CW would tack on a couple more production hours up there in Canada to make a Superman TV-movie that would run seven or so months after the series’ conclusion. But what if Tom Welling isn’t putting on the red cape for the small screen? It doesn’t seem like 18 months is enough time to slap together a big-screen “Smallville” sequel, but I also seem to remember Warner Bros. kicking the first three episodes of “Clone Wars” to cinemas without a lot of notice. This comes from an untested source, self-described as “Yoda’s Bitch,” so kindly take it all as rumor.

Please, do you have anything — anything — about Smallville? Please? Please! MATT: I shall reward your repeated use of the word “please” by sharing a provocative bit of intel I just stumbled across. A source tells me that although Sam Witwer was invited back for Season 9 — for possibly several episodes — at this time the actor has no plans to slip back into either deceased Davis’ EMT jacket or presumed-dead Doomsday’s spikey skin. Latest from Ausiello – Are they casting Zod?!

It sure sounds like it based on this season 9 casting notice that just fell into my lap: MASON: Late 20’s early 30’s. He’s a handsome charismatic charmer who savors life. He appreciates good food, loves fast cars and sees beauty in every woman. There isn’t a detail in life that eludes his senses. He is a master of seduction… knowing what everyone wants and needs before they do. But don’t let his magnetism fool you. There’s more than meets the eye. His intelligence can’t be matched. He outmaneuvers everyone in his path. Though he longs to find a home, that vulnerability can be twisted — making him a force to be reckoned with.”Source: EW

Smallville Casting Exclusive: Brian Austin Green Is Metallo!

Source: TV Guide

It’s official — the new season of Smallville can’t get here soon enough. Brian Austin Green has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Metallo, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. That’s right — the Terminator alum is now playing a cyborg himself. That is a pretty freakin’ super bit of casting, right? Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego “Daily Planet” journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25 Interestingly, Smallville fans were waiting for news on big, bad Zod, given the events of the Season 8 finale, but that role still has yet to be cast. (I suppose you could say the show “zigged” instead of Zod.) Green’s Smallville gig comes on the heels of the Beverly Hills 90210 alum passing on the role of One Tree Hill sports agent Clayton. (And isn’t this role so, so much cooler?!) Prior to that, Green had been attached to the CW pilot Body Politic, but that series didn’t get picked up for fall. This past TV season, Green costarred on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was canceled after two seasons.

Smallville News: Ninth Season most probable

Smallville by Timothy White/The CW

Avowing their “every intention of letting [fans] be the first to know the reality,” Smallville executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have issued a statement addressing rampant speculation that the development of The Graysons, a new CW series chronicling the pre-Batman days of young master Dick, means that Clark Kent’s own days are numbered.

“Never have we been so committed to the continuing success of Smallville as we are to seasons 8 and 9,” the pair say in a note posted to KryptonSite.com. “While we are extremely excited to… create the origin story of Dick Grayson, it has never been intended as a replacement for Smallville.”

Souders and Petersen, who are creating The Graysons with Supernatural executive producer McG, go on to promise Smallville fans, “[We] are all working full-steam ahead on a storyline for Clark that allows for seasons of further trials and adventures for our favorite hero.” — Matt Mitovich, TV Guide
