[Warning: If you have yet to watch Thursday’s season finale of Bones, run — don’t walk — to the nearest emergency exit. Everyone else, onward and downward….]
Tonight’s Bones season finale solved two major mysteries that had been looming over the series in recent weeks: Yes, Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) did engage in comfort sex in last week’s episode. And yes, Deschanel’s real-life pregnancy will be incorporated into the show.
Plus, viewers got an answer to the biggest cliffhanger hanging over the entire series: After six years of will-they or won’t-they foreplay, Booth and Brennan are heading into next season as both a full-fledged couple and expectant parents. Put in TV business terms, the show’s producers not only blew off that pesky (and outdated) Moonlighting curse, but they kicked it in the groin. And we kind of love them for it.
That’s not to say, however, that we don’t still have questions. Because we do. Luckily, exec producer Stephen Nathan agreed to jump on the phone this evening for a quick post mortem and a preview of what’s to come.
TVLINE | First, please assure me that this isn’t going to be some kind of bait and switch. Brennan is really carrying Booth’s child, right?
It was not a dream. There is no alternate reality. What you see is what you get. They are having a baby. She is pregnant with his child. She [slept with] him in the previous episode and this was the outcome.
TVLINE | What impact did Emily’s pregnancy have on this story? Would you have gone this route regardless?
Emily being pregnant certainly figured into it to a certain extent. But [series creator] Hart [Hanson] and I were leaning toward this independently of that. The biggest problem we faced going into Season 7 was how to get these two people together while keeping the integrity of Brennan and Booth’s characters in tact. By going this route, we didn’t have to have them go through the traditional love-dovey stage where everything was wonderful and they understood each other and they got past their differences. That’s never going to be the case. They now are together but are essentially the same exact characters. They’re going to disagree on everything they disagreed about before, including how to approach their lives together, religion, family and now how to approach having a child. So we lose nothing but gain a huge amount with the reality that they are now together sharing the biggest thing in their lives.
TVLINE | So this isn’t just two co-workers having a baby together after a one-night stand. This is a full-fledged couple starting a family?
They are as much of a full-fledged couple as two unique and difficult people can be. Brennan is not a fan of marriage. Booth is somebody who’s always wanted to get married. These issues still remain. The tension that has existed in their relationship up to this point will continue. They’re now sharing something and they’re committed to each other in a way they always wanted and there’s no way to avoid that. They have to deal with the reality that they’ve gotten what they secretly wished for.
TVLINE | Will they move in together?
That will be addressed in Season 7. When we open in Season 7, it’s not Ozzie and Harriet. It’s not a perfect little domestic family situation. They haven’t figured out where they’re living, how they’re living and what their future is. They just know that they’re together.
TVLINE | How much time will have passed?
That’s something we’re still deciding. We will probably pick up a couple of months down the line.
TVLINE | This is a very unconventional path to take. I mean, these two haven’t been on a real date together and now they’re having a baby.
The reality is, Booth has been with Brennan more than he ever was with [a real girlfriend like] Hannah. Which is always the case when people work together in a high-pressure job. [By making Brennan pregnant] we avoid all of the [trappings] that people commonly associate with the Moonlighting curse, which is, “Oh, now they have to date,” or “Oh, now they have to hug each other and kiss and share desserts.” They never have to share dessert. [Laughs]
TVLINE | When you and Hart concocted this story, did you go to Emily and tell her that if she’s ever thinking of having a baby with husband David Hornsby now would be the time?
[Laughs] Not really. Because we still have the [prosthetic baby bump] that we used on Angela. We already bought that. We could easily re-use it.
TVLINE | How did Emily and David react when you told them this was the direction you were going in?
They were very, very happy. It allowed them to take a big step forward as actors with their characters. And it allows us to keep them precisely who they’ve been for the past six years, and yet move them forward without getting into the stuff where you kind of go, “Eww, now they like each other; there’s no point in watching the show.” Nobody really wants that happy domesticity. And I can’t foresee that ever happening with the two of them. Their feelings for each other are clear. Everybody’s known it for years, even though Booth and Brennan haven’t always copped to it.
TVLINE | Any concern about embarking on another season-long baby story on the heels of the Angela-Hodgins pregnancy plot?
We did have thoughts about that. But then we realized it can be an advantage, because this is really what happens to most people. Friends have a baby, and then they have a baby, and then you hear from the friends about how they raised the baby, then you want to kill those friends because now they’re know-it-alls. So the idea of them sharing the experience of having a baby could actually help the show, because they are not going to raise their children in the same way. And then we’ll also have other characters weighing in on it. We have Max around, who we think would probably be a very good nanny. [Laughs]
TVLINE | You pointed out that Brennan isn’t the marrying kind. Are you ruling out a Booth and Brennan wedding?
No. Not at all. That will be addressed and not resolved in the season premiere.
TVLINE | Did Fox freak out about this storyline?
As a matter of fact, no. They were fabulous. They were great. Everybody realized the [challenge] of getting them together. And we had to do it in a way that hadn’t been done before. And I do want to say that Bones is still going to be Bones. There are still going to be dead bodies and revolting remains. And [Booth and Brennan] are still going to be solving crimes. It’s not going to turn into a soap. They’re [personal] lives will be ongoing and we will focus on that, but we’re still a crime-odey.

Deep breaths, everyone. Deep breaths! Okay. So. The “Bones” season finale was pretty much a textbook example of a game-changer — by the end of the episode, the main characters had scattered to all corners of the globe for the next year!
But let’s take a Brennan moment and think rationally: This wasn’t a series finale, much as it felt like one. The next season will simply pick up a year later, and everyone will be back together again, right? RIGHT?? Good. Let’s just hope they “evolve” in the right direction, if they aren’t going to pick up right where they left off. But I’m getting ahead of myself…
The Case: This was definitely one of the more dramatic body reveals — a seemingly endless avalanche of junk breaks through an apartment’s ceiling, followed by a decomposed corpse. Sure, the kid in the apartment looked happy about it, but he’s totally gonna have PTSD flashbacks every time he gets something off the top shelf of the closet and everything falls down on him.
The victim, an agoraphobic hoarder, was hacked up by a fan before getting trapped under junk and starving to death. Sweets classifies him as a “level five hoarder.” If you level up to six, can you cast spells to lift piles of junk off yourself? Angela uses a fancy mass recognition program (picture Hodgins as Pac-Man and the most important pile of junk as a bunch of cherries) to lead them to a spot where something valuable was taken.
Apparently, the victim had gotten his hands on an extremely valuable Fiestaware gnome from 1941, which was made using uranium. Seriously? (Seriously.) A collector had stolen the gnome from him, but in the end it was a former coworker and lover who accidentally killed the victim, pushing a fan at him in the struggle that ensued after she tried to force him out into the sunlight. And that, my friends, was Booth and Brennan’s last case together. Well, their last case together for a year, at least…
Booth and Brennan: Bones is our first offender, getting so jazzed up about super important ancient remains found in the Maluku Islands that she’s distracted from the case, even making mistakes. (I know!) She at first claims to be questioning if the work she’s doing at the Jeffersonian is “worthless” compared to a historic dig, but then confesses that she just needs a break: “I’m worried all the time. Worried that Booth might get hurt on a case and I couldn’t prevent it, worried about what our partnership means … I just need some perspective so that I can view my life with objectivity.” Okay, that’s actually quite the admission on Brennan’s part, and absence makes the heart grow stronger, right?
When Brennan is asked to head up the project, she refuses to make a decision before talking to Booth, her partner. His mouth says “It’s okay,” but his lack of eye contact speaks volumes, so much so that even Brennan picks up on it. Booth, however, is himself being courted by the Army to train soldiers in Afghanistan. With Parker encouraging him to go be a hero he decides to bail on DC as well, rather than do his job without Brennan.
Brennan hopes they’ll pick up where they left off after a year, but Booth reminds her that things evolve over time. I wonder if he’s hoping they’ll evolve in a certain direction while they’re apart, or if he’s given up hope and is escaping into the Army as a distraction.
Caroline dispenses a lot of tough love, insisting that they clear the case before they leave and then confronting them after they protest that it won’t be their last case: “Trust me. The way you two are running from each other, you’d better be damn sure of these little trips you’re taking.” One of these days Caroline is just going to snap and lock Booth and Brennan in a room together until she hears naughty noises through the door, I swear to god. When Sweets suggests that solving the case might make them want to stay, Caroline tells him to “grow the hell up.” Awww, the anger is just her special way of expressing how much she cares about those two.
At the airport, Brennan says all her other goodbyes and looks for Booth as her flight boards. Suddenly he’s there, looking quite dashing in his Army uniform — he had to sneak off the base to say goodbye. Man, they beg you to come back and then they make you sneak out to say goodbye to the partner you left for them? Sort of? Harsh! He tells her to be really careful in the jungle, and she points out how much more dangerous Afghanistan is, telling him not to be a hero … not to be himself. Great line. Loving, but not overtly so.
It looks like Booth is going to kiss her, but instead he grabs Brennan’s hand and tells her that they’ll meet at the reflecting pool in one year — she knows exactly the spot he’s talking about, of course. He reluctantly lets go of her hand and they both walk away, and then both look back, so sadly. At this point I maaay have yelled something along the lines of “Why are they doing this?!?!” at my television.
Sweets and Daisy: Daisy has also been offered a spot on the dig in Indonesia, much to Sweets’ dismay. And she probably doesn’t make things better by saying her career means “everything” to her, and suggesting he become a pearl diver. Hodgins, always the romantic, thinks Sweets should go, but Sweets isn’t sure he wants to give up his entire life like that. Dude. It’s a year on a tropical island. You’re a supergenius with like twelve degrees — I’m pretty sure you could get your job back after a sabbatical.
And so he not only doesn’t go with her — he also thinks it’s best that they not wait for each other. Um, seriously? Weren’t they engaged? Even if he won’t follow her to Indonesia, he can’t spend a year doing the long-distance thing with the woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life? Sweets, Sweets, Sweets.
A) I now question any advice he’s ever given as a psychologist, and B) He really does need to grow the hell up. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the woman he loved! Maybe this is karmic repayment for Daisy suggesting to Brennan that she and Booth might be holding each other back. (…Or maybe Sweets was just looking for an excuse to get out.)
Hodgins and Angela: Angela’s dad is back, and he recruits Hodgins to steal his car from some bikers who won it in a card game. Angry dogs are involved, but Sweets mesmerizes them with his mad cat-imitation skills. Awesome. The whole thing was sort of a test, and after Angela’s dad and Hodgins escape (sans Sweets), her dad gives Hodgins the car as a sort of “welcome to the family” present.
He won’t be using it for a while, though, because Hodgins and Angela are headed to Paris for a year rather than break in a new agent and anthropologist. So … it’s just Cam and the NotZacks at the Jeffersonian? Bummer for Cam…

A word about the season finale of Bones, in which the entire Jeffersonian team — Booth and Brennan included — split up: whoa! That said, let’s ask executive producer Stephen Nathan one of the only two questions you have — and since “WTF?” is rather a rude query, I’m going with, “Okay, what next?”
“The start of the season will have Booth and Brennan meeting [12 months later] at the coffee cart, and the series will start again… though on very different footing,” he says. “There will be big changes.”
Big as in, maybe B&B don’t come back alone big? “Perhaps not alone,” Nathan teases, adding, “There’s a potential for a new recurring character or two next season.”
But don’t freak — or try not to, he pleads. When the Jeffersonian team reassembles, your favorite characters will all be there, and they’ll “be the same people, [just] with one solid year of independent life under their belts. So when they see each other again, they will be different.
“Our intention was to really shake things up,” Nathan continues, “so that we don’t just come back with the same dynamic.”

In a special encore presentation of this season’s emotional two-hour premiere, directed by HOUSE executive producer Katie Jacobs and featuring guest stars Andre Braugher, Franka Potente and Lin-Manuel Miranda, House begins a detox program to get the vicodin out of his system to stop his powerful hallucinations once and for all. Strong-armed into staying at the facility by his attending physician, Dr. Darryl Nolan (guest star Braugher), House develops a close relationship with his new roommate, Alvie (guest star Miranda), and Lydia (guest star Potente), a frequent visitor who helps House bend the rules. House resorts to his old tricks of blackmail and manipulation, but when devastating events ensue, he is humbled into reluctantly accepting help. As part of “FOX Rocks,” House plays piano and raps alongside Alvie in the Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital’s talent show. Plus, incorporated into the encore installment is new behind-the-scenes commentary from series star Laurie.

Hugh Laurie directs and Oscar nominee David Strathairn guest-stars in an encore episode that features new exclusive episode commentary from Laurie. When a newborn disappears from the nursery, Princeton Plainsboro goes on lockdown, preventing anyone from entering, leaving or moving within the hospital. While House and hospital staff are trapped in various parts of the building, new insights about the team’s personal histories, relationships and regrets surface.
KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “Fleming”
Chef Gordon Ramsay visits Fleming in Miami, FL, where a husband-and-wife team is in desperate need of help. Once a popular Danish restaurant, Fleming has been resistant to change and is now barely surviving. And after Chef Ramsay sees what’s lurking in the cooler, he is forced to shut down the restaurant in the middle of the dinner service. John Walsh brings AMERICA’S MOST WANTED to Chicago to see how the city and its citizens are battling an epidemic of violence by fighting back and to find out how AMW viewers can help. The Windy City has responded to its growing crime problem by installing the most extensive surveillance-camera system in the nation – more than 10,000 public and private cameras. The special episode will also include Walsh’s emotional meeting with a group called “Purpose Over Pain,” whose members, like Walsh, have lost children to senseless crimes and will ask viewers to help find them justice.

To add insult to injury, Freight Train dumps Cleveland as his best man in favor of Donna’s ex-husband, Robert (guest voice Corey Holcomb). In the September 17 season premiere: The episode features a time jump that’s longer than two weeks but less than six months. And an MRI holds the answer to one of the show’s biggest questions. (Michael Ausiello)
“Rosie is out of the picture for now,” confirms series creator Hart Hanson, who adds that “Angela and Hodgins belong together every bit as much as Booth and Brennan — perhaps more. And they will get there. But it’ll be a rough, rough road.” (Michael Ausiello)

The much-hyped Booth/Brennan sex scene which turned out to be little more than a figment of someone’s imagination came and went a couple months ago, but the cast of “Bones” is now back at work and we’re starting to hear a bit of intel on the upcoming fifth season premiere.
Will fans have a reason to smile again? Think so.
First of all, Booth’s amnesia? Not really an issue, at least not in the traditional sense. Apparently, when Booth asked Brennan who she was in May’s finale, he didn’t mean to imply that he didn’t remember her. Apparently Booth just wasn’t sure whether she was his partner, Bones, or his wife/baby mama from the hallucination/alternate reality he experienced while drugged up.
Because of his confusion, we’re hearing Booth will continue to struggle with romantic feelings for the good Dr. B throughout the season premiere and may even kiss her after rescuing her from a dangerous situation.
But just because B/B are sort of taking steps forward in their relationship, there’s no reason to think they’ll be back in the bedroom anytime soon. Executive producer Hart Hanson has already said that there won’t be any sex between them this season… a pretty daring statement to fans, many of whom are still bitter about getting blue balled by the season finale.
However, Hart and his cohorts were the ones who insisted the finale sex scene would be real, so it’s certainly possible that the whole “no sex this season” stuff could just be another bait-and-switch to prevent the surprise from being ruined.
Oh and p.s., on the non-relationship front, EW.com is reporting that Cyndi Lauper will be making her “Bones” debut during the season premiere as a psychic who attempts to help Booth and the squints solve a murder. Anyone else hoping this inspires Brennan to do an encore performance of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”?
Brennan was so on the baby train last season on Bones! How can she be going back now? She’s not going back as much as she’s staying undecided and unpredictable. (All the better to torture us with!) As Bones star Emily Deschanel told us when she was at the Monte Carlo TV Fest last week, “I loved the fact that Brennan was adamant about not having children, because with so many female characters it’s just a given that they want children, and I think that is a wonderful choice. I think its important to have people represented who have made the choice not to have children. But I also love and respect the fact that she’s unpredictable, and she did make that decision that she wanted to have children. These characters are so unpredictable, they have contradictions, and that was one thing I loved from the beginning of the show.” Source: E!Online

We caught up with Roxie (Nichole Hiltz) herself at the Los Angeles Times’ Envelope Emmy screening series, where she told us that she will not be back on Bones: “Not that I know of, unfortunately, but I loved being on that show. I loved playing that part. I wish it had gone on longer and been fleshed out a little bit more. Michaela Conlin is honestly one of the sweetest, loveliest girls I’ve ever worked with. Not only did Bones and Booth not have baby-making sex on Bones last season, they probably aren’t going to creating a l’il Brennan anytime soon, as Bones star Emily Deschanel says it’s unlikely her character will become pregnant anytime soon.
“There are complications along the way of [Temperance and Booth] discussing having children,” Emily explained during an appearance at the 49th Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco. “I think it’s very possible she will be pregnant in the future but I don’t think its going to happen right away. I think she has some growing to do.”
“Everyone is aware that once you get the two characters together you lose that glue that holds the show together, which is that sexual tension,” she said. “I think they are being very careful about how to move forward without destroying that tension.”
Emily also revealed part of season five’s guest-star lineup, which includes a very famous lady rock star…
Apparently performer Cyndi Lauper will be stopping by next year. Emily said, “I don’t think [Cyndi] will be playing herself, but I’m not sure what role she’ll play, they’re debating it now.” Emily says the guest gig came about when, “I sang ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ in one episode. She saw it and was interested in being in the show. She was an idol from when I was a child so I will probably be beside myself that day.”
Stephen Fry will also be back, and it’s still true that Emily’s sis Zooey Deschanel may stop by the Bones set one of these days. (FYI, Emily’s cinematographer father Caleb Deschanel has directed a Bones episode, and her mother Mary Jo Deschanel, an actress, guested on House last season as Kutner’s mourning mother.)
Emily says of the possible sister act, “[Zooey] is interested in being on the show, and I know [Bones executive producer] Hart Hanson would love to have her on the show. It’s just a matter of finding time where she’s available…It’s very difficult because she’s always working as an actor or touring as a musician or recording, she’s very busy. So just getting the time together to get her to work on bones has been difficult but hopefully by the end we will have her on the show.”

Today FOX officially announced its schedule for the 2009-2010 TV season, and some of the changes are huge. Aside from the great news that Dollhouse will be coming back for a second season, the other big story is that So You Think You Can Dance, which premieres its fifth season this Thursday, will air in the Fall as well for an immediate sixth season. The So You Think You Can Dance move is unusual, but helps to balance out the schedule since FOX has American Idol in the Spring. It also gives FOX the chance to do direct competition with Dancing with the Stars, a show that in recent seasons has taken several professional from former SYTYCD contestants. With three hours of So You Think You Can Dance on the schedule each week, there isn’t much room in the Fall schedule for new shows. House, Lie to Me, Bones, Fringe and Til Death all return in the Fall as do the Sunday animated comedies The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad.
New entries for the Fall include Glee, a new hour-long comedy that has a special premiere presentation tomorrow after the American Idol final performance show. The other new shows are half-hour comedies: The Cleveland Show, an animated spin-off of Family Guy, and Brothers, a Friday night sitcom starring Michael Strahan (yes, former NFL star Michael Strahan). FOX will also try a new Saturday night talk show by giving recent White House Correspondents Dinner host Wanda Sykes her own show.

FOX also revealed its plans for the Spring season which brings more new shows. Two new dramas, Human Target and Past Life, will premiere in the Winter. Human Target is an action series based on a popular graphic novel about a man who protects his clients at all costs while Past Life is about a psychologist who treats her patients by exploring their past lives.
The current Spring schedule keeps Thursday and Friday nights the same while adding 24, preempting Glee until the Spring, and introducing a new comedy on Sundays, Sons of Tucson, a live action comedy starring Reaper‘s Tyler Labine.

Fox’s official plan for the 2009-10 TV season includes good news for House and Bones fans: The two popular series are staying put on their respective nights. They’ll also boost two returning freshman series: Tim Roth’s Lie to Me has scored the plum afterHouse berth on Monday, while Fringe will lead out of Bones on Thursday. Dollhouse will remain in the Fridays-at-9 pm slot, where its new lead-in will be a pair of live-action comedies — Brothers, starring former NFL star Michael Strahan, and [groan] ‘Til Death.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has officially been powered down. Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly tells TVGuide.com that no matter how well Christian Bale’s Terminator Salvation theatrical release does, the TV series will not be baaaack.
On the reality front, So You Think You Can Dance enthusiasts can do a little jig to celebrate the fact that not long after the show’s about-to-launch summer season ends, a fall edition will kick up its heels, airing on Tuesday (with a two-hour performance show) and Wednesday. Kevin Reilly says that the intent is to mirror the network’s midseason lineup, when American Idol enters the mix. Wanda Sykes will host a late-night roundtable talk show airing Saturdays at 11 pm.
Among Fox’s new offerings, Glee — which gets sneak-peeked this Tuesday, following American Idol‘s Adam-Kris sing-off — will air on Wednesday, leading out of Dance‘s results show. The Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show will call Sunday-at-8:30 pm home.
Premiering midseason will be Past Life (a reincarnation-tinged thriller series airing Tuesdays at 9 pm), Human Target (with Mark Valley as an elite bodyguard, replacing Glee on Wednesdays) and the comedy Sons of Tucson (starring Tyler Labine and targeted for Sundays).

Remember when some Obama press conferences threatened to bump this episode of “Bones” to next year, and fans raised a stink to make sure we got to see it? Perhaps our president was just looking out for us…. Yes, “Booth” and “Brennan” get busy — naked busy. Yes, they proclaim their love for each other. Yes, “Zack” returns. Yes, we see all the various lab assistants, and Jared is there, and Max, and Carolyn… and none of it matters, because it’s either Brennan’s new book (which she wisely deletes) or Booth’s coma-induced hallucination. Possibly both. What it isn’t is any good. “People say you only live once — but people are as wrong about that as they are about everything else.” So sayeth Hodgins’ voiceover, which ushers us into some B&B nookie. They’re smiley and happy and the bom, it chicka-wows, for about 5 seconds. But this Booth isn’t our Booth, and this Brennan isn’t our Brennan, they’re married nightclub owners, and a body is discovered in their club — “The Lab.” Just about all the recurring characters we’ve run into are connected to the club in some way:
The dead guy was found in the bathroom, knocked out a shot in the head. Brennan — Bren in this incarnation — was working late but heard nothing. Cam thinks she must be having an affair, but of course she’s not because she and Booth — here it’s called Mr. B — are so very, very in love. The dead guy is was a mob heavy. Was he sent by The Gravedigger to intimidate Booth for not paying protection money? Was he sent by Arastoo to intimidate them into selling? Was he sent by C-Synch or his gangster brother to intimidate them into booking him in the club? Was he pulled bodily from the nether regions of the writers’ after a particularly bad Jägermeister-and-hot-wings binge? Who knows?
Everyone at the club thinks Mr. B did the deed, because he loves Bren so very much and would do anything to protect her. So they go about obstructing justice 3in various ways — Zach handles the gun, which he finds in Vincent’s DJ equipment, destroying any prints that may be on it. Angela neglects to show a map of the club she drew for the dead guy — she wants to be an interior designer, so…. she draws floor plans of existing clubs on napkins?). Zack and Sweets hide, then destroy, Bren’s coat, which was used as a silencer. The list goes on.
After some banter and a few clues — Max says Jared works for The Gravedigger! Cam says Jared has a thing for Brennan! Max tells everyone not to use cell phone, because They can track your every movement! — Bren, Mr. B and Cam figure out that Jared was the culprit. He killed the mob heavy to protect Bren, because he loves her. He looks like he’s going to commit suicide by cop/Cam, but Bren gets between them and convinces him to put down the gun. Then Mötley Crüe plays, and it looks like Jared will walk for lack of evidence, and everyone lives happily ever after.
All of which served to kill time until we got to the big moment — our Brennan, the real Brennan, at the real Booth’s bedside when he wakes up. The operation was a success, but he had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and he’s been in a coma for four days. Booth talks about how real that weird dream he just had felt, then looks at Brennan. “Who are you?” Dun dun DUN! Wait, they had to give us 43 minutes of pointless story just to get us to that one moment? Really? Sigh.

You know they’re just beginning to write that now so you know I know less than what they know and they don’t know very much. So I know kind of because it ends with a kind of cliffhangerish thing,” Deschanel said, adding: “I know a little bit what happens after that but it’s hard for me to talk about it without people having seen the episode. But definitely Booth and Brennan will have a new dynamic the beginning of Season 5. As you would imagine since we end up, we’re in bed together in the end of Season 4 but it will, we will have a whole new dynamic the beginning of Season 5. Our relationship will change.”

“Bones” fans were delighted earlier this year when it was revealed that — after four years of the will-they-won’t-they dance — Booth and Brennan will hit the sheets in the season finale. The powers that be have been very clear that the Brennan/Booth sex isn’t a dream sequence or a hallucination (as Booth is experiencing in tonight’s ep). But as information has been leaking out about the final episodes of the season, you have to wonder if they might be planning some other kind of weird move. When I talked with creator Hart Hanson back in May of ’08, he mentioned that he was hoping to do an alternate reality episode… an episode where we would be seeing fan favorites return and also get a glimpse of Booth and Brennan leading a more couple-y life together. Well, the season finale, “The End in the Beginning” is being called “an episode with a twist” and it finds “Bones”‘ dynamic duo as owners of a club called “The Lab.” Um, pretty safe to say that ain’t happening in Kansas, Toto. That’s definitely not the world “Bones” viewers have come to know and love… not to mention that there will be a bunch of returning characters in the hour — including Zack, Jared, and Max — which has me further convinced that this could be the alternate reality episode Hart Hanson told me about. So now, the million-dollar question is whether the Booth-Brennan sex happens before the weirdness starts or if it takes place in the alternate reality. I’m really starting to think it’s the latter. Considering that spoilerphiles know Booth is having some major surgery this evening, one has to wonder if this much buzzed about hookup will actually end up being an anesthesia-induced, alternate reality copout. If that ends up being the case, will you cry? Or be cool with it?

Emily Deschanel admits she finds all the hype surrounding Booth and Brennan’s hookup on Bones next Thursday a little mystifying. “It’s only a few minutes on camera,” she says, “so it feels weird to talk about it so much.” I couldn’t agree more. And to prove it, I’m not going to ask Deschanel… wait a second, did she say a few minutes?! Let’s dish, sister friend!
A lot has been made about what affect the sex will have on Booth and Brennan, but I’m curious what the whole experience has been like for you and David.
EMILY DESCHANEL: It probably strengthened our friendship, even though this kind of thing can probably ruin a friendship. Honestly, he was such a sweet guy. He was more supportive and concerned for me before we started filming than I would be. He had meetings about it. He’s like, “I don’t want anyone around.” He practically kicked out everyone — even the people who had to be there filming! And it’s a fairly tame scene. He was so protective of me; it was very sweet, actually. He wanted to make sure I felt comfortable. Of course, he also made jokes.
It must have been awkward.
DESCHANEL: It was awkward, but we were prepared for it. I laughed really hard during our kissing scene last season; it’s just really weird to kiss your co-star. I laughed this time in rehearsal, but I was really proud of myself for not laughing when we actually shot it. And honestly, it is a job. There were technical things we had to worry about.
How drastically will the sex alter the Booth-Brennan relationship?
DESCHANEL: It definitely changes the dynamic between the characters. But it’s done in a very clever way. [Series creator] Hart Hanson wrote the episode in a way that gets these two characters together — which a lot of the audience was waiting for — but doesn’t dissipate the sexual tension between them and, therefore, ruin the show.
Can you say whether Booth’s medical issues are a factor?
DESCHANEL: Let’s just say there’s definitely a twist. It’s not a dream, but there are twists. And there are [other] twists at the end of the episode that will be shocking as well.
Does the finale end with a cliffhanger?
DESCHANEL: A little bit, yeah. It’s not a matter of life or death, but it’s kind of huge. There’s a cliffhanger and it has to do with Booth and Brennan relationship. It puts their relationship in jeopardy.
Is anyone leaving the show?
DESCHANEL: Not anyone that people love.
Booth and Bones are getting together in the Bones season finale, airing May 14 on Fox! According to Emily Deschanel, “It should be surprising and good. The way it happens is surprising…I’m glad we waited this long. The Cinderella in the Cardboard – Airing April 15, 2009
When the image of the Virgin Mary is spotted on a bale of compressed cardboard at a recycling plant, Booth and Brennan are on the scene. They discover the image is no miracle, but rather an outline of dried human blood. Upon closer inspection, they find a flattened body inside the compressed cardboard, and must find out who the victim is and who may have wanted her dead. When they discover the victim had been planning the perfect wedding for years even before she even had a boyfriend and was finally engaged to be married, they trace her last steps and find that her fianc was not the only man in her life. With a trail of men from a cell-phone dating service in tow, Booth and Brennan try to understand the duplicitous woman’s dealings. Meanwhile, the pair grow suspicious when they spot Sweets’ girlfriend Daisy trying on a wedding dress with another man, and Hodgins and Angela come to terms with the status of their relationship. The Mayhem on the Cross – Airing April 16, 2009
When a real human skeleton is found being used as a stage prop for a death metal band in Norway, authorities determine the victim was an American citizen. The Jeffersonian team tracks the skeletal remains to an underground U.S. death metal band and identifies the victim as a bassist named Mayhem from a band called Spew. As Booth and Brennan venture into the unfamiliar world of death metal music to search for the killer and a motive, they learn about their own team’s surprising musical preferences and gain new insight into Sweets’ past. Meanwhile, when Sweets asks Dr. Gordon Wyatt (guest star Stephen Fry) for input on the book he’s writing about Booth and Brennan, Dr. Wyatt lends Sweets an interesting perspective on the pair’s unique relationship. The Double Death of The Dearly Departed – Airing April 20, 2009
When a Jeffersonian coworker from the Egyptology department dies of heart failure, the whole team attends the wake. However, upon viewing the corpse, Brennan insists the death was no accident, and enlists Booth to help her steal the body so she and Cam can get a closer look. A bizarre mystery develops surrounding the victim’s cause of death, and the suspects are as cryptic as the baffling death itself. Meanwhile, Cam gets a lesson in parenting when she tries to get her newly adopted teenage daughter Michelle to stop smoking. (Fox)

When a human body is found inside the strung up Otter mascot uniform of a rival school, Brennan and Booth investigate whether the body inside the costume was dead beforehand, or killed during a Middlesex University bonfire event. The body is identified as Jimmy “Beaver” Bouvier, a fraternity brother at Middlesex University. When Brennan and Booth question his fraternity brothers, they learn that Beaver had a money-making operation on the side and was making a killing of his own. Meanwhile, Booth offers to help his brother Jared (guest star Brendan Fehr) find a new job after being dishonorably discharged from the Navy in “The Beaver in the Otter” episode of BONES airing Thursday, April 30 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Is it true Stephen Fry is returning to Bones? Yes, there will be a bit of Fry in the April 16 ep, and Bones boss Hart Hanson tells us, “Stephen Fry is wonderful. He has a great chemistry with David Boreanaz, and he has scenes with John Francis Daley, who is ostensibly the guy who replaced him. It was a thrill to have him here.” Holler! In the new ‘Bones’, Booth and Brennan are on the case when shattered, pulverized human remains are found in a garbage bag.
Brennan and Booth get their hands on some science next week on “Bones“, but the former thinks the latter doesn’t live up to the expectation. In “Science in the Physicists”, Booth and Brennan are on the case when shattered, pulverized human remains are found in a garbage bag at on location at a photo shoot.
When the team discovers a meteorite shard lodged in the victim’s ear, they are led to the Collar Institute of Science, a famous center for physics research in D.C. When they discover the victim had been working on an extremely controversial project, Brennan and Booth investigate a multitude of death threats directed at her.
As the team tries to decipher the cause of her death, Booth and Brennan are on the search for the killer, but their scientific method leads them into a dangerous situation. Meanwhile, Angela’s father comes to town to seek revenge on Hodgins, and Sweets attempts to mediate the situation.
After this episode, “Bones” will catch up with the schedule preempted for the presidential event, by greeting the audience on Monday and Wednesday. Additional air time will be April 15 and 20 at 8/7c, but the show will be back to the Thursdays slot for the remaining episodes.

The death of a colleague triggers Booth and Brennan’s sense of investigation that leads to the stealing of the body, all new in ‘Bones’.
“Bones” preview for the April 20 episode is released, and this would be the first part of the double week airing. Booth and Brennan investigate the death of a not-so-dearly departed co-worker in “Double Death of the Dearly Departed”. When a Jeffersonian coworker from the Egyptology department dies of heart failure, the whole team attends the wake. However, upon viewing the corpse, Brennan insists the death was no accident, and enlists Booth to help her steal the body so she and Cam can get a closer look. A bizarre mystery develops surrounding the victim’s cause of death, and the suspects are as cryptic as the baffling death itself. Meanwhile, Cam gets a lesson in parenting when she tries to get her newly adopted teenage daughter Michelle to stop smoking. The next “Bones” will air in its usual Thursdays slot, April 23.

So, it looks like Booth and Brennan will get their bedroom time this spring after all. No doubt they have their vocal fans to thank for it. As Korbi reported last Thursday, because of President Obama‘s prime time address tomorrow night, “Bones” is in danger of losing a whole hour of its season to accommodate “American Idol“‘s schedule. And as of late last week, FOX’s tentative plan was to push the “Bones”‘ season finale — which includes the long awaited Booth and Brennan hook up — to fall. However, it seems the tentative plan has been tweaked. Though FOX is not commenting on “Bones”‘ schedule, insiders tell me that a revised version of their spring lineup was released earlier today and though “Bones” will indeed lose an episode this season, the finale hour is no longer the one marked for postponement. Instead, they’ve axed ep 4.18 “Beaver in the Otter” (otherwise known on fan sites as ep 4.24, episode numbers are wonky this season due to several year 3 episodes being pushed last spring). Perhaps the network peeped some of the fans’ helpful suggestions and decided to take their feelings into account. Of course all schedules are subject to change, but I will monitor the situation and keep you updated. Assuming the current plan stands, are you satisfied? So, apparently Booth and Bones may not hook up in this year’s season finale after all. Whaa–? Why? Ask President Obama. I just found out our fearless leader is kind of a c-ck block. Because of Obama’s press conference next Tuesday, a few prime time scheduling tweaks must be made, and the “Bones” finale could end up being a casualty. Though FOX has not yet made a definite decision, word is, the romantic crime drama will lose an hour to “American Idol” since “Idol” obviously can’t just cut an episode. This plan, which FOX is dead seriously considering right now, would push the much talked about “Bones” finale — the episode in which we’ve been promised some no nonsense B&B bedroom action — back to the start of next season. So, thoughts? If this is something you hard core “Bones” fans can’t possibly accept, you better start commenting, because FOX is apparently going to make a final ruling on this any time now… Source: Zap2It’s Korbi TV

As Bones‘ Booth ponders becoming a family man, he’ll get a visit from Family Guy‘s Stewie, in a “crossover” episode slated to air May 7. The set-up for this unusual merger of genres: When Bones‘ Brennan asks Booth to father her a child, the normally nonplussed federal agent becomes consumed by the prospect of procreating. That, coupled with an undiagnosed health issue Booth is suffering from, sets the stage for a visit from diabolical Stewie, who tenders advice to the prospective pop. Asked about his Bones drop-by, Stewie said in a statement, “Oh, have you seen it? Was I good? Because I heard they said I was amazing and they want me to replace Emily [Deschanel]. But that’s just a rumor.” Boreanaz, in turn, says that Bones‘ wisecracking guest star “was good during the actual scenes … but between takes he literally vanished — nowhere to be seen. “I guess it’s true that Brits and cartoons tend to be standoffish,” adds Boreanaz. “Or maybe it was a Method thing, I don’t know.” What’s your honest take, Bones backers, on this super-strange crossover?
Zach is most likely going to be in the finale on May 14. And he won’t be the only Bones alum appearing in the episode. “The finale is pretty much going to have everyone who has ever been on the show,” reveals executive producer Stephen Nathan, who says Patricia Belcher (Caroline) and Ryan O’Neal (Max) are among the cast members slated to join Eric Millegan (Zack). “It’s going to be an interesting last episode of the season. Very different for us, but it should make sense in the context of the season.” (Michael Ausiello)
The Doctor in the Den – Airing March 26, 2009
The half-eaten body of a doctor is found in the tiger cage at the zoo following a hospital charity event, and Booth and Brennan determine the death was no accident. The team soon identifies the victim as Dr. Andrew Welton, and Cam reveals that she was engaged to Welton and lived with him 10 years ago. Though she is devastated by the loss, she nonetheless joins in the investigation to help find Dr. Welton’s killer for the sake of his 16-year-old daughter who Cam once helped raise, potentially creating a life-changing situation for Cam. The team pieces together Dr. Welton’s final evening as they question the suspects, including Brandon Casey (guest star Lowe), whom Sweets and Angela must hypnotize in order to jog his memory about what he saw the night of the gala. Meanwhile, lust is in the air at the Jeffersonian and Angela is obsessed by sexual thoughts as she tries to maintain her self-imposed celibacy. (Fox)

Emily in Tulsa, Okla.: When the H are Angela and Hodgins getting back together on Bones? Seriously, we want a full-fledged reconciliation with some lovin’ to spare!
No time soon. As Bones bosses Stephen Nathan and Hart Hanson told us last week, there’s nothing coming in the finale. But Hart says, “We’ve always thought that Angela and Hodgins were a couple that should be together.
